Re: Aftermath

People showed up in two limos, since they were coming from two different prior locations. You could all fit in one, but it would be a bit crowded.

Where to?

At this point, it's about 8am in the morning. Walter has a meeting in 2 hours.

"I would suggest that we all head to the starport and prepare to leave planet." Walter said. "We can get a great breakfast at TAS and are welcome as my guests. Also, if we are in Imperial territory, any planetary law authority would have a harder time getting their hands on us after this latest escapade." he added, once inside the limo as he reached for a brandy.

"Sounds like a plan, we assemble at the TAS, figure out our immediate plan and then execute. There´s probably a couple of things each of us might want to accomplish individually, so we need factor that in."

With that said, he´ll head towards the TAS with whomever decides to ride with him.

As he rides, he´ll send a message to Maniko Kurasaga, requesting a meeting to appraise the knife, sending the location and data for the item to be viewed.

Rendezvous At TAS

Taking the limo or limos to TAS is easy enough.

Everyone has a breakfast that can't be beat, you all collect your money, and afterwards can sit around discussing further plans... or falling asleep.

Walter and Darrel both have meetings to go to.

Any personal errands you want to run should be dealt with in your Private Eyes thread.

Rendezvous At TAS

With the team sitting down for a good meal, Walter was having a hard time not yawning. Tapping his glass, he addressed the team. "A toast to our success, something I can now say that I have done, that I had never done before... he said with a sly grin. "I would suggest that we meet back here for dinner so that we are all refreshed after some sleep. I am not as young as I use to be, let alone use to staying up all night. The short nap on the way back did not help things and I fear that I will not be getting to bed for another few more hours." he said as he fought back yet another yawn.

"Something to think about for when we meet again. I guess it would help to get an idea as to what the rest of the group wants to do for the future. In this case, ones silence is not helpful. Input from everyone will be needed so that they can not say that they did not want to do a course of action that the others are doing." he said.

"Here are a few topics to reflect upon for later discussion. What's next? Do we wish to leave the planet? Do we wish to acquire our own vessel? If so, what kind and who do we wish to operate it, given the number of certified pilots this group has. Are we open to new members? What if someone wishes to leave? Getting these and other questions that will pop up answered now will help avoid serious problems in the future. I ask this as there is an old Vargr friend of mine that I had served on a free trader he was on when I was in the merchants, many years ago. He would like to talk about starting backup again as a merchant. " he said.

"For the time being, we can get some rooms here at TAS for the next few days while we sort things out."

Sam listened to Walter and then stood "I'm gonna get some shut eye, I'll see you at dinner. As to next plans - you get a ship, I can pilot it and help out in other ways. Just don't ask me to chip in the cost - all the money I have is what I just earnt"

She nod to everyone then heads off to her room

Rendezvous At TAS

Dinner is usually an earlier meal, around 5pm, but can be earlier on special occasions (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas)--as early as 1 but normally at 3.

Supper is the later meal, any time after 7, generally around 8.

These were distinctions made by different classes. Farmers and factory workers didn't get done work until 7 or so, which is when they got home and ate supper.

The 'upper class' tended to eat early so they could go to shows and party in the evenings.

As working hours decreased and leisure time increased, the two kind of blended together, particularly in States. So now dinner time is around 6pm. It can be earlier or later, though, in which case the time would be specified. If not specified, 6pm/1800 hours is 'standard'.

These are  human conventions, however; who knows what Vargr and Aslan do.

The only thing the Vargr book says about it is, "Vargr metabolism is faster and more efficient than the human digestive system, meaning that Vargr eat more frequently but they are able to fast for longer periods if necessary."

So they eat more often, but otherwise it's likely to come down to the local culture, and considering how Vargr are about that detail...

While everyone is making plans Khea pauses eating her meal which consists entirely out of sausages and looks at her personal computer for the humaniti definition of dinner.

OOS: Aslan usually only eat once a day right before sleeping and they sleep for 12 hours (1/3 of their 36 hour day).

"How about we say 18:00 or 6 PM. That will allow everyone downtime to get some rest and/or accomplish some personal tasks."

Makes sure his meeting is set and organized.

"There´s a couple of issues that concern the entire group, mainly being figuring out our ship, if we decide to do that, I´m going to be sending the most respectable independent ship investigators to the 2 ships which seem to be our most logical choice. Unless otherwise changed, I´ll have it set up for 8 AM to 12...to check both ships personally as a group, to ensure bright happy people are on duty."
OOC: To be covered in Ship Ahoy thread.

Relaxing, enjoying the flush of a successful mission and having the good company of his compatriots. The group should notice that although he is a "Count", his demeanor is very comfortable within the sense of, for lack of a better word, the crew.

Holds up his glass to toast.

"I want to thank the group TAS members for their hospitality, and to our continued commitment to each other. It´s easy to go through life alone, without a care or worry about others, from a smaller sense to a larger big picture....However, within us, individually, we are hardwired to seek social companionship. If you are willing,  why not now and why not us?"

OOC:Don´t forget, he´s an actor/noble (Almost a Duke)...This is his "natural" mindset. Imperial, high minded and somewhat pretentious. Hard to tell if it´s sincere or fitting the mold.

In reply to Darrel Cromwell (msg # 37):

"I must say, Sir Walter," Vonon said around a bite of...some local fish called 'kippered'..."I'm both pleased that you found more than one offer of a ship for sale on this backwater -- pun intended! -- planet, as well as being surprised that you found any ship for sale here! This planet really is the back end of nowhere. If I were to believe the data in the library, this planet wasn't settled too long ago -- maybe a century -- and most of the colonists are from that big star-state, coreward of here...the, uh, Principality of Caledon."

Vonon chewed thoughtfully for a second, "In fact, as I think more upon it, I'd be willing to bet a fistful of my stock shares that, when you get those ships checked out, they're probably Caledon-built leftovers from the initial colonization effort.  Not that there's anything wrong with a hundred-year old ship, mind you, but my personal preference is for trusty, Imperial-built ships."

"That's why..." Vonon lifts and sips from his mug of Kaff; a Viliani style, hypoallergenic mild stimulant beverage, before continuing, "...when I was finished vacationing here on Planet Grendal, I'd planned on going to nearby Planet Outpost. There is a de-facto Imperial Naval Base there, and I was going to look into possibly purchasing something from their mothball fleet."

"I'm not talking about buying a warship, of course." Vonon returns his attention to the fish on his plate, "But remember, there are more to naval assets than warships; I'm talking about scouts, supply ships, troop transports.  All of which could be turned to civilian applications, but are built to military specifications. Although...I suppose, if an Imperial Destroyer were offered for sale, then I'd consider it. Hurr-hurr."

"Of course," Vonon finishes the last bite of fish, "If we could find an appropriate ship here, then we could forego the expense of a jump-three trip to Outpost."

Re: Rendezvous At TAS

Khea listened intensely to Vonons plan while chewing on those poor meat substitute the Humanities have and which probably has been dead for days, if it had lived at all at some point.

Finally reaching the Imperium, even if only an outpost. Khea would have jumped at that idea if it weren't for Vonon being, at least in spirit, very much like an Aslan male.

After thinking about it a bit she says, in an overly neutral tone "The ships here do seem to be suspiciously cheap even in case the case that they are hardly working. And finding two such offer at the same time? Thats suspicious."

"Well Vonon, I have a feeling that a lot of that has to do with Grendal being the most densely populated system in this part of Drexilthar that can be reached with a jump one vessel. It might also be that the owners did not factor in the cost of operations." Walter said  "There are many factors that the average merchant can not factor in when they start off. It also does not help that the bankers believe the projected profits that the potential owner shows them." Walter added. "I have not been home in a while and do plan on visiting Outpost but not as a passenger." he said with a smile as he finished up his meal.

"If you will all excuse me, I am off to the port bar to meet an old Vargr friend of mine. You up for a trip Vonon?" he asked.

Re: Rendezvous At TAS

Sharik was tired and dozed for a bit in the limo after tossing her repacked kit bag in the trunk.  She listened to the light conversation in the car for a bit, but having stripped of vacc suit and put back on her more casual attire after the meeting with Ceruleanne, the diminutive socialite let the fatigue creep in and didn't bother trying to stay too awake.  Another tumbler of Sylean brandy from the wet bar in car and she was catnapping for a bit, her head resting on Vonon's shoulder.

Once back at the TAS hostel, she agreed to meet with the others later once she got a touch of rest.  Dinner time was fine with her. but since the party wasn't breaking up yet, Sharik did stay to eat a touch of breakfast.  But it wasn't much - and though she did partake of a touch of coffee to try file off some of the rough edges of fatigue, she didn't want to be too wired once the meal was over.  So, she chose decaf.  The diminutive socialite held up her mug to both Walter and Darrel's proposed toasts, though vocalized little more than a seeming approving grunt as she chewed.

As the youthful Kaagira scion chewed slowly (one might think thoughtfully, though one could also interpret it as wearily), Sharik contemplated Darrel's words.  "I'm in." she noted simply, her tone and demeanor seemingly almost unrelated to - let alone actually convinced by - the Count's actual arguments, "I have enough friends to keep me here..." and she glanced in the direction of Vonon for emphasis, "And know enough of you and Sir Walter by reputation that any venture involving the two of you intrigues me."  The lithe socialite shrugged slightly, "I have been travelling for a while now..." which was likely an understatement as it had been over a decade, at least, "and novel ventures always intrigue me."  Having shown the ability to make a comfortable life on the go, it seemed pretty certain that Sharik travelled by choice and not by any necessity.

Her attention turned to the conversation of Walter and Vonon, "Either system will probably have potential leads for both ships and jobs; I am not convinced that Outpost will have a much better selection.  And I, for one, am more than ready to move on from this particular planet.  I won't say that we are persona non grata here, but we have the potential to become so rather quickly."  The smile on her lips turned a touch wan - which blended frighteningly well with her weariness, "I rather we not wore out our welcome here completely..."

"Do we intend to - or will we be required to - finance any ship bought here through a local bank here on Grendal?" Sharik asked idly, "That might influence whether we purchase here or not..."  Ultimately, she trusted Zeller to do due diligence, it was his reputation.  And she knew that he'd likely forgotten more about finances and trade than she had ever known.

She nodded curtly, when the noble merchant excused himself.  But then a slight frown touched her expression, a gently aggrieved mein showed when the man invited Vonon to accompany him.  Even if the man's contact was another vargr...  "Why not invite your friend to meet us here, Sir Walter?" Shar prompted the former majordomo, though she was obviously tired.

OOC:  Edited to be back in the proper timeline.  Thank you, Samantha.
