Re: Rumors and Violence
"Yes, this man helped, too. He was on the wall above the ladder and pushed it over. I'm not worried if you all heard different things; I just want to get your versions. I'm going to record this so I can do the paperwork later, OK?" Ali pulls out her smartphone though she seems a touch distracted as she does so. "I'm Detective O'Malley, but I don't know all your names. Let's start with those and how the department can contact you. Then tell me what you observed. One at a time, please." Ali starts recording using her phone. She speaks into the phone, "This is Detective O'Malley, interviewing three witnesses to the zombie event in St. Clemont's Cemetery in The Harrows the night of [insert date here]." She holds the phone toward each of them in turn.

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Fine, I'll go," Warrior Woman said. "I heard some of the talk about missing people and some of the bodies. Some of what I heard reminded me of Thanatos, so I came to check out the graveyard. This was the first that I went to. I bumped into you and then I headed in to see what I could find. I saw that guy and the zombies. I headed back to make sure you guys knew about it before I did anything and that's when I bumped into her." She nodded toward Kat. "We waited until the idiots came to the ladder and we jumped them. We took out the zombies and the guy surrendered. That's pretty much it."

Re: Rumors and Violence
Kat looks at Ali "Well, you pointed a gun at me, I told you then who I was. My number is..... There are plenty of other officers who know me. My father was one who was killed in the line of duty. But like wonder woman said, I just cut up the zombies with my knife and that was it."

Re: Rumors and Violence
OOC: Sorry!  fell behind, will try to comment on it all... My writing skill isn't up to James' flirting, he's coming across as more sleazy than charming, but I'm shooting for the second!

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of insulting your intelligence my lady," he responded to Warrior Woman in a low, smooth baritone. Not quite Barry White, but not far off from it. He smiled up at her and added, "although if I may, it is an especially pretty head at that." He was clearly, if not exactly flirting, at least showing some interest in the statuesque giantess. She might not recognize it though, James is a lot smoother than the boys in high school.

"Alls I know is what I heard. But sheeit, come on. Ain't nobody can say he didn't look terrified when the po-lice took him away. Whole lot more scared than anybody outta be jes for being arrested. And not to jump to any conclusions here, but he don't exactly look like he's smart enough or has big enough balls to be pulling some o' this necromancy shit hisself. Scuse the language. Seems like, even if I imagined what he said, he's gotta have a boss."

"James Popper, at your service," he smiled and bowed slightly towards Alannah, again showing his charming side. The thought of crafting a heroic identity hadn't even crossed his mind. "And I am more than happy to give a lady my number." He did so, rattling off the digits in a practiced fashion. "I aim to cooperate as much as I can with the hard working and talented ladies protecting our fair city, you can count on that." He nodded from Alannah to Katherine and back again, then settled his gaze on Warrior Woman again.

"I heard the same stories. Homeless been disappearing from the camp along the cemetery walls. Lots of 'em, some of 'em I knew. So I was looking up on them, came across a guy who said someone, or maybe someTHING is taking people from the camps at night. Then I heard the commotion over here so came over to check it out, saw a ladder and looked over. Thought it'd be best if the undead stayed in the cemetery, so pushed the ladder over on the other side. Sorry about that, ladies, taking your escape route, but I knew two impressive specimens like yourselves could handles a few shambling monsters."

"Sure. I'll get this sorted as best I can. Thanks for the help... Oh, did any of you touch the van? I saw you all near it, and forensics will be all over it." Ali looks a little frustrated with the women's evasiveness, but seems happier with James' openness. She stops recording and pockets her phone.

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Um... I don't think so, but the girl I was with earlier may have touched it, when she looked inside," Warrior Woman said, looking uncomfortable. "She just opened the door and stuck her head inside. I think that was about it."  If that was it, she headed over to the ladder, after making sure the creepy old guy wasn't gawking at her when she climbed the ladder.

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Nay, I didn't touch it.  See ya later" she figures if the woman isn't going to respond to her, she might as well leave.  She pulls up her hood and starts walking away.

Over by the cargo van, Warrior Woman looked a bit ludicrous as she grabbed a kid's bike that was left by the cargo van and rode off into the night.

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Guess it's just you and me, Detective," James replied as he watched Katherine and Warrior Woman depart. As he watched the amazon a look of shock crossed his face, then a smile as he shook his head and swore softly under his breath.

Out of earshot of the other police he added with a smile "I ain't gone near the van, but I think we both got some things to talk about, don't you? Well, all four of us really, but those two birdies ain't ready to sing jus' yet. You need to file that report right away? Or you got time to go somewhere and talk about, well, you know. You show me yours, and I'll show you mine. So to speak."

He flickered into invisibility for a second, then came back.

Re: Rumors and Violence
Ali keeps her voice down, but she's not whispering just having a conversation. "Sure you didn't." No attempt to hide the sarcasm there.  "But I don't think you touched anything, so you should be OK... No, no need to file the report immediately. There's a take-out Chinese place a couple blocks down the street that's still open; not a lot of room to sit in it, but there are a few chairs and tables." When he turns invisible Ali seems somewhat impressed and yet not surprised.

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Well lead on, my lady." he said in a low voice. Now visible again, he followed her wherever the Chinese place was, with long easy strides. While they walked he talked.

"So how'd you see me there? I got the invisible trick, plus a couple others. Whachoo got?"

Ali leads the way. "I didn't see you until you showed yourself. You were noisy, so I knew you were there." She looks at him a little, trying to gauge him and accepting his own openness. "Well, I thought you were noisy, but then again everyone is noisy. I've got a good sense of hearing, really good. You said you can do more than the invisibility trick?"

Re: Rumors and Violence
"That depends, we layin our cards out, or we being coy?" he said with an easy grin and a little laugh, worried he was being played to reveal his secrets. Coming from his background it isn't always easy to trust the police, but his body language with Detective O'Malley shows he's open to talking to her. It was his idea, after all.

"Really good sense a hearin'? That all you got? Sheeit," he chuckled as he shook his head. ""Ain't the first time my big feet have given me away.  But somehow I don't think it's just your ears. Like I says, you show me yours, I'll show you mine."

Re: Rumors and Violence
"I don't think anyone's ever accused me of being coy. Tell you what, test me. Walk to the end of the block, around the corner, and dial a number to someone who will answer with a store or business name. Hang up right away and come back." (OOC - Let's say the end of the block is 100-200 ft away (50 yards, give or take) at this point.) Ali stops where she is on the sidewalk. </Blue>"When you get back, you can tell me if you think I could hear you well enough to notice you earlier."</Blue>

Re: Rumors and Violence
Kat had walked away and stopped a block away. The one woman seemed odd and there was really something odd about the guy. She didn't know the cop lady. She would have to ask her friends about her later. She turns and walks back.

She walks back as the cop woman and man where talking. "Hey, I had a question for you James, how did you stay so well hidden?"

Re: Rumors and Violence
OOC: going to play this as we get interrupted by Kat before we get to Alannah's test, hope that is ok.

"I guess it's like they say, you accuse other people bout things you see in yourself. Sheeit Lady, coy might as well be my middle name. he smiled and scratched his chin for a minute.

"I believe ya, detective. I was jus wondering what else you could do.  But hey, far be it for me to deny a pretty lady a chance to show off." He started to walk away, but noticed Kat coming back so postponed the test.

"Another time. One a our friends is coming back."

He greeted Kat and answered her by going invisible, saying, "Pretty much the same way you managed to carve up the bad guys." he faded back into existence.

Re: Rumors and Violence
Kat looks at him  "But I knew you where there. But you didn't smell like them, so I didn't bother you. But I have a very good, OK, great sense of smell, I can track people with it." she shrugs "You don't believe I did it with my knife?" she asks with a smile.

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Oh man, you can smell me and she can..." he hesitated, not ready to give away someone else's secret. "Well, let's jes say being invisible ain't worth shit around you ladies. And damn, you harsh if you was able to smell me over top a the nasty ass funk those zombies was putting out. I know it's been a long day since I had a shower this mornin', but damn girl!"

When she mentioned her knife he laughed. "Sheeit, that little thing?" he said, teasing a little as he looked at her. He'd watched her use her claws, he knew what she had, but he didn't feel comfortable giving away her secret with Alannah standing there. No, that was something they would all have to do for themselves. And no better way to foster trust than to show some.

"OK, show and tell time. Les clear the air, find out what we all can do, then we can see about helping out the ones who be disappearin, and all. I guess in this case it's gentlemen first. Y'all know about the invisible thing. I can put people to sleep too, if I concentrate and get lucky, put em right out. And ... well..." he hesitated.  He didn't like telling people about this last one.  He sure didn't want anybody in his head. "You see, I can also read your minds. Not deep thoughts, just whatever y'all are thinking about at the time, and your emotions. Thas it for me, otherwise I'm just a charmin' good lookin' black man tryin' to do what's right."

"So who's next?"

Re: Rumors and Violence
"Well, I an't ever told anyone about my abilities. I have like really sensitive smell, I can run really fast, more like a cat. And I am, got claws" She holds out a hand and pops out 3 long blades from between her knuckles. The blades cut though her skin but it closes up. "Oh, I see in the dark and talk to cats, I mean I can really talk to cats and I am stronger then I look"

Re: Rumors and Violence
"James, that sounds intriguing, but you better stay out of my head... Katherine, everything you've described sounds a lot like a cat. Do you think it's all connected?... Like I just told James, here, I have really, really good hearing. That's it... Katherine, do you want to join us at the Chinese take-out place up the street? I figure it's a better place to chat than out here on the street."

Re: Rumors and Violence
Kat shrugs her shoulders "Sure, I love Chinese. and yes, I am cat like. They tend to follow me at times. And of course, I am not wild anymore about dogs. So how far is the place, I am starving"
