Chapter 13b: Tower Hill Residence of the Wilbur Family
The Wilbur family was once renowned in Empire City. They've come down a bit over the years, but their mark is still all over the city. The Wilbur wing at the hospital, the Wilbur chair at the business school at the college, the Wilbur prize for music, and the countless other signs of the family's philanthropic giving over the generations. The last two generations were haven't done the family any favors: business reverses, a harder time hiding entitled children's misbehavior in the age of the internet, and not enough business acumen to weather a global financial crisis.

The brownstone in Tower Hill looks like it had seen better days, but still had a certain threadbare dignity.

Before they get there Ali asks John, "How would you like to approach this? It's easy enough for me to go to the door with a badge. You could be an 'expert' I've brought along. You could go in on your own separately while I'm at the door. Of course, you could do that afterward if the first way doesn't work, too."

Chapter 13b: Tower Hill Residence of the Wilbur Family
(OOC - As Ali has a job, she'll need to be doing normal police stuff for most the day. She'll end her day early doing what she can with lunch break and the like. I would guess (unless the GM brings up something in the work day) she'll head over around 4:30 in the afternoon.)

"I was planning to look for skeletons in the closet."  John says. "Was there a picture or something in the police report?  Or the insurance paperwork?"

Chapter 13b: Tower Hill Residence of the Wilbur Family
After getting to the station, Ali can get the robbery report and request the insurance filing without much trouble. The patrolmen that took the call were perfunctory at best. The gem is listed as an antique estimated at $2,500.

(OOC: the operator might be able to help, but sadly earbuds don't really have a print option.)

Chapter 13b: Tower Hill Residence of the Wilbur Family
Ali walked up to the door at 4:30p as planned. Knuckles is no where to be seen, but he whispered that he's here as Ali passes.

Ali knocks on the door and a few moments later a woman in frumpy pants suit comes to the door. "Yes?"

When Ali showed her badge and introduced herself, she nodded. "Your colleague is already here waiting. Mr. Wilbur is entertaining her in the library."

She escorted Ali down the hall and up the stairs to the library. It's a stunningly opulent library redolent with the scent of aged leather and paper.

Inside there was a late-middle aged man with thinning hair and a cravat showing from his sport coat. He doesn't notice Ali's entrance as his attention is an an awkward looking Warrior Woman wearing a pant-suit and flat. She held a drink in her. He's doing his best to try to find out about her and whether she'd be interested in being his date to a gala fundraiser this evening.

WW looked over at Ali, as she came in. "Detective O'Malley! I'm sorry, I was a bit early."

To say John was surprised at seeing Jane's alter ego would of been a bit of an understatement.  Only Ali would have heard his silent gasp.

Chapter 13b: Tower Hill Residence of the Wilbur Family
(OOC: Run by the GM for this post.)

Ali nodded slightly, when Knuckles spoke to her, then she turned toward WW. "A moment with my colleague, Mr. Wilbur?" she asked.

"Of course. Would you like anything to drink?"

"A cup of coffee would be wonderful."

The woman that escorted Ali into the room scurried off. Mr. Wilbur moved to the other part of the library to work on a computer.  Ali gestured for WW to join her in a corner, her anger was obvious.

After talking with WW, the two of them rejoined Mr. Wilbur. Ali introduced herself and said that she was here to try to find out about the missing antique.

Mr. Wilbur nodded. "Thank you, the uniformed officers that took the initial statement said a detective would be coming by but that never happened."

Ali gave him a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry, but I'm here now." She pulled out her notebook. "Can you please go over everything from the beginning?"

Wilbur sighed, clearly unhappy that even things like a gang war or zombies were considered higher priority than a crime against Empire City's blue bloods. "We were preparing some of great-grandmother's jewelry for an exhibition at her alma mater for the anniversary of the opening of the family wing. We had some people from the Empire City Museum and from the insurance company appraising the pieces and arranging the security, provenance, etc... before they're shipped out."

"Do you have any pictures of the jewelry as well as the appraised values?"

"Of course." He brought them over to the computer and flipped through some pictures. There were several of the jewelry collection, as well as the individual pieces. A couple showed people in the library with the collection.

The servant came in with the coffee for Ali.
