Act 5-C: The Violet Hour
Chris K, Samindi
The man's eyes flick between Samindi and Chris K. After a moment's consideration, he settles on Chris K. "Not buddies. Just one, Wallace. And I figure you've killed him already."
"What makes you think that?" Vivian asks flatly.
"Because he's the one that went into the house, and the only way you'd ever stop him would be to kill him. And besides, that's his gun."
His gives a meaningful look to the revolver in Vivian's hand. She's let it hang at her side, and looks down at it as if she'd forgotten it's there. She appears sheepish for a moment, but brushes it off.
"As for why you're here, you can probably guess."
He lets that sentence hang in the air for a moment, looking at the group as if to challenge them. As the silence drags on, however, he apparently doesn't get the reaction he's going for, as he gives an annoyed look before continuing.
"I ran into Wallace a little over a week ago. He told me his ex-wife had kidnapped his daughter and ran off with a pedophile who was using her. I told him I got nothing else left in this world, might as well spend my time doing good. He never said there'd be all of you here - I don't think he knew. If we'd known there was a whole bunch of you here, I'd have taken my time to make sure I took more of you with me."
He pauses to look at Samindi, then Sid. When he speaks again, his voice is lowered. "Except you two. Whatever they told you, whatever they made you do, you're victims in this. Don't let them - "
"What are you talking about?!" Sid interrupts. "What the hell are you talking about? We just got here! We don't know anything about this!"
"You want us to believe," Vivian says slowly, deliberately, and with generous disdain, "that you thought there was a child molestation commune operating out of a farmhouse after the end of the world." She gestures to the group. "And that we're all involved with it."
The man glowers at Vivian for a long moment. "You know...I wouldn't have believed it if it weren't for Wallace. He was driven, the way only a father can be for his child. Even then I wasn't sure. Not until I got here...and I saw what you were doing to her."
He points at Samindi, then leans forward in his chair towards the rest of the group. His frown transforms into a mirthless, very grim smirk. "I don't see him here, by the way. So I guess that one sick fuck less in the world."
