Not sure. I have thought that too but it would be a bit of a drive and my old store has issues too. Just ask the Grey Lords. Lol.

His old store is hardly any better.
I'm dang near ready to walk myself. I've lost 2 VERY good people, in spite of every thing I've done, due to the rest of the store thinking my department is not important.

I run the cash registers. As in my crew runs the very things that actually rings up every sale and ACTUALLY gets money in the store.

Really funny thing. 2 days ago, just before I lost my second Head Cashier, The man who held my position just before me called. While I was at work he basically said that there is a spot open in the company where he works, doing basically the same thing, 3 blocks from my house. Not sure if it was fate, or insane coincidental timing, or what...

I'm, meeting with his boss on Monday.
My store wants to counter my efforts in keeping good people?

Maybe Angrboda cast a spell of good luck to you..be careful it might be chaos though...I want to open a gentlemen's club where it is medieval and fantasy based...reminds me of Angrboda always being naked in her chambers.. :)

Thanks Rael and Esyld...I will sure miss my stapler though :)  looking at these jobs where you can make money from home..posting for Facebook and such...are they all scams?

No...there are legit opportunities.    But, there are probably more scams, than legit things.

The easy thing to do is take the name of the program, toss it in Google, and see what people are saying about it.   Most scams get revealed pretty fast, these days.

I work a pair of part time jobs, one of which I do mostly from home.  It's medical recruiting, though, so it's more of a career thing, than something I picked up off the internet.

The current scene with Cirok and Berta makes me think of Scooby Doo.  I expect to catch the goat-head, unmask him, and have it turn out to be Mikkl...

"And I would have succeeded, too, if not for you damn kids!"   ^_~

For any sort of recruiting, medical included, it definitely doesn't hurt, and some places will require it.   But, that isn't necessarily so with all of them.

I got the position more based on some sales work I had done.   I don't think they cared too much about my (only two year) degree.

Welcome back, Berta!

I only have a 2 year degree two, sometimes I wish I went to more college but the people I know are in so much debt even though they have decent paying jobs now from college.

I sort of fit this bill.
I went into Anthopology, at at year 2.75 for various reasons I was forced to stop.
Went back several years later, changed majors to Computer Science - Information Security (with eCommerce getting huge I figured this was no problem to get a job) only to find that by the time I graduated (Magna Cume Laude) that I needed to have a Masters to even get the entry level jobs.... that is unless I ALREADY had 2 years experience.

The education system here is a joke, it has turned from "lets get people educated" to "How much can I fleece these rubes!"

Re: OOC Thread

I am in that boat I guess.  I have my BA in anthropology, while I have found jobs that only require a BA, they are few and far between.  Of course my teachers suggested I stay and get my MA but I wanted to go home, my intent being to pay off my loans and THEN go back for my MA.....:p  now I am looking at getting my MA online....:)

Re: OOC Thread

Yes, I agree --  if you're aiming for higher education, these days, it's good to do your homework before, and be as certain as possible it will be applicable to something once you're out.   Easier said than done...

In my case, didn't really have too much time to think about it -- I had a kid to support on my own, and had to start making more money.

So, you both went for Anthro?   Are we really descended from muppets?

Re: OOC Thread

Something about Anthropology/Archeology really drew me.

I knew I like it thanks to all the Zahi Egyptology stuff growing up.
Looking a bit further back I saw that most of the honest to god roots of western civilization (as a whole) was from Babylon/Assyria. Sadly thanks to me being an American there was no way in heck I was EVER going to get to see many of those sites of antiquity in person.

Then real life hit and I was forced to leave college for a bit.
Still a hobby and I like to ready articles when I can, but no longer a "passion"

Re: OOC Thread

At least you studied something interesting !  I got my degree - double major in Accounting/Economics, 3 years - but very much just drifted into that.  Thank all the Lords of Law and Chaos that very early in my working life computers started taking off and I ended up as a programmer and loving it.

Not knocking my degree and don't regret studying at all - it taught me research skills and got me a job.  :>

Re: OOC Thread

Strange how many of us have similar backgrounds in real life..I went to school for computer programming and changed to business management which I did get a 2 year degree in...kind of a joke for a degree not that I didn't like my schooling or learn anything but it is way too broad of a field, which I guess is why I ended up working retail sales for over 15 years...

back to important things at hand..did Rael just get shot by the capt?  Viktor can't leave his little buddy alone for 5 minutes...

Mythology has been a very strong area of interest for me, since I was a kid -- Egyptian being one of my favorites, along with Sumeria (which I've always favored over the later Babylonian).

I've learned something of ancient cultures/histories, in relation to that, but I'm much more up the mythology side of it.
