Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Its is from the High Guard book, but it only available to High Command which is kind of a long shot. I was kind of hoping for Imperial Consort :(

I also rolled a cutter or 5 ship shares so technically I suppose I could get 25% of a ship. I am thinking of keeping the cutter though, give us a little more flexibility.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Nera if you take the 5 ship shares I think that puts us at 30% unless anyone else has ship shares.

Just as an example if we Gazelle Close Escort which is 217,800,000 - 30% puts the new cost at 152,460,000.

Mortgaged from the book at 1/240th of the cash price each month for 480 months puts us at 635,250 Cr a month.

Not sure what the minimum down payment would need to be but subtract that and the monthly would be less obviously.

So the really question is, how much can we expect to bring in monthly and pay the crew and the upkeep of the ship?  Considering were being billed as hero's there isn't much heroism in treasure hunting, merchant shipping, or mercenary work :P

I guess it comes down to how we expect to be getting paid?

I think you guys are focusing too much on the minutae. The gm would not offer us these ships if they were not available and outside our budget. It just means the threats we face will be bigger.

Hell with it, lets get the best damn ship in the game and we'll worry about selling our kidneys later ;)

Worst case scenario we end up on Operation Repo lol.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Some thoughts on ship:

I liked the sound of the barque. Is your experience that bigger is better than fast from the previous game?

To make sure the game is fun I think having lots of robots around to do everything diminishes the hero aspect.

Will we pick up a few fighters?

The ship choice directly connects to the skills package.

So I have a few ideas on allocating skills since we seem to be more people than skills and we are not sitting at a table so it's hard to be fair.
1) To each according to need: let the person with fewest sp pick, then next and so on
2) everybody gets 1 - let everyone pick 1 skill if any are not picked offer them out individually.
3) everyone gets 2 - why would I even say that? What a go away.
There are lots of other ways I'm just considering.

If we pick a really big ship with lots of guns and fighters then we can keep everyone engaged by making sure several people can fly and or shoot.

If we go with a smaller ship with less crew then among the players we will need not only a mechanic engineer but also an assistant for dealing with 2 problems or getting bonus from aid another.

Same with sensor operator and gunnery and maybe astrogation or even pilot.

These are all connected. I vote for smaller fast ship unless size is really needed and picking traveler or starship package and make sure we have any fighter/shuttle pilots as well as primary and potential extras for each combat station.s

For Space skills I've got: Astrogation-1, Sensors-1, Comms-0, Gunnery-0, Mechanic-0 and Pilot (spacecraft)-0.

My specialty is Pilot (small craft), ie. Fighters.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Mixtzin has: Medic 4, Pilot (Capital Ships) 2, Zero-G 2, Tactics (Military) 2, Comms 0 and Computers 0.  Great medic, OK pilot, and can lead a boarding party.  Otherwise, not much good on a ship.

I'd like a ship with good jump capability (2 or better), very good manoeuvrability, a very good computer (or even 2?), and plentiful hard points with top notch weaponry (even if we have to retro-fit it).  Lots of cryo berths would be better for carrying rescued folk: no life support or food and water, and with a good medic and a hospital/sickbay, little likelihood of death.

We might be able to buy decommissioned weapons to augment/upgrade those with which the ship is originally equipped.

A few spare staterooms would be useful, but not necessarily essential.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Wow Mix you are amazing too!

My best skill is telekineses 3 not always useful in spaceship battles unless you put me in my Cameleon combat armor and have me fly psionically to the enemy ship and telekinetically disable their engines or use machine symbiosis to mess with Thier life support sensors and what not.

I am mainly a stealthy streetwise pistol and energy sword warrior.

On ship I have computer 1, mechanic 1, engineering 0, all science 0, astrogation 0

I have a wafer Jack and get a couple new 1 skills for INT and EDU only for 1k each and can psionically add skill points for a round or three in extremis.

I could be assistant engineer especially with engineering wafers.
I could take pilot and be a fighter guy +2 on Dex ...
Or take gunnery and assist in shooting
or both pilot and gunnery if 2 skills
Or stick with sciences and take something like sensors 1 from the list.

I am glad to let T'risa or anyone give advice for direction to be useful on crew.p

To be honest, I don't have a roundup of your characters skill levels. It might be best for the GM to decide where we'd all best be suited.
T'risa doesn't have any directly applicable starship skills.
Leadership and tactics (naval) and tactics (ground) might be her forte.

Given events of the last game, she'd probably look at the roughest, toughest ship available that has enough cargo capacity to allow storage of mecha and fighters.

My character isn't a pilot, he can drive that's about it.  Rest of his skills have more to do with covert ops type recon work or over-watch.  he's quite specialized in his abilities however he would be a definite asset in boarding parties.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Hey I don't know if having a share of the ship provides any benefits but if it does I'll gladly sell one of my ship shares to you Tal (GM permitting) for your extra cash. I could buy some software and a Medkit for my armor.

If the benefit is only pride I'll give it to you for nothing. (: cause they're all going the same place. I won't take your money if that's the case.
I doubt we can trade but I'm open.

Yup sounds like the 600 - So I'm looking forward to the details on the choices.  But would like to assume we can put everything together in one loan - fighters, ships boats, ship, ammo, extras. We know we have 1 solid fighter pilot. A driver - for our ATV, a solid mechanic plus Poppy. More than enough leadership a witch(bridge) a backup pilot senior officer captain comm person. A rennaissance doctor .... Any gunners?

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

I thought I'd take a moment to explain a few points of interest. I never planned of this to be a typical Traveller campaign, gear, money, moneymaking etc.... were not the primary focus.  You'll have pretty liberal access to all the nice toys. and making money is not a real issue...what ever you have for your character is yours to customize gear, pick up things that the Quartermaster.(poppy) overlooked. Or to use for your own private purposes.
as art of the operation, S'viim and Poppy came up with a standard gear package for players.

In short one of the features o this game is you get to play with all the toys you may never have gotten to play with before. You guys are going to find money and support easy to come by by the typical Traveller scheme.

Ya wanta fighter, Battle dress, phased plasma rifle in the 40 Kilo-watt range...Odds are you can get it..without weeks of game pay, jumping through hoops or dealing with shady loan sharks who will happily repossess your frontal lobe should you miss a payment.

Ship Shares: instead of using them to buy the ship once you have decided on what ship you want I will figure up how much all available ship shares are worth and let you buy upgrades, and extra vehicles/small craft to use on missions. if you don't have a ship share, hold onto your cash, or let me know how much you are giving poppy/S'viim to invest, or use for equipment purchases.

From experience I know that T'risa is not one to say.."no shares..no part in decision making" in effect if I know T'risa all of you are in on the command decision process and will probably be tapped on occasion to take charge of your own little niche in the game...after four years of playing with her I noticed a few trends...

I will assure you if a character spends money oh his own gear I will make sure that that expenditure makes his toys better than standard issue gear...

Such as "Mix" who gets a spiffy set of specially fitted Battle dress for his use, and Alex who has Nephilum manufactured gear when he pays for it...Tal on the other hand can through his contacts secure untraceable off the books hardware..etc...

I have astrogation, vacc suit, zero gee and gunner at level 0, mechanic at level 2  along with pilot small craft i.e shuttle craft at second level.   Jack of all trades is at level three.    I had thought the rest of you had picked a group skill set already, hence my taking carouse, but if not, I really don't care which package set is chosen.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Cain- you pick any skill you want for connections. Can't boost higher than 3

Tal- JOAT at 3 is awesome - you can do anything -

Wow! Is all I've got to say for the GM. what fun.

So far nobody is a gunner 'cept Tal who can do anything. Pilot small craft could make Tal our second fighter pilot if he wants.

This will certainly help me think through where I want to be.

So on the bridge is Nera who may be the best starship pilot and Comms. T'risa as witch.

In engineering is Lynn

Fighter pilots; Cain, and Tal - if he wants to do that

Boarding party with stealth bonus Kendrick and Alex of course I'm sure we will all do it sometimes.

Medic Mix has skills that can move him anywhere and he can fly capital ships if we ever steal one.

Gunnery: ? Nobody yet.

Bridge crew: Sensors, astrogation, Comms: who's Mr Spock?

Am I understanding? If no one steps into those roles I could support gunnery or mr Spock when not sneaking and boarding.

Tal,could be, the gunner or weapons officer as well as the second fighter pilot when something happens to Cain, like when Cain needs a break, is in the hospital with appendicitis or something like it, you know we all could catch a cold or the flu, who know what Prometheus will throw at us.   Or happens to be in the latrine when the fight starts, in short anything can happen to our small command crew so it behooves us to be cross trained in many functions,

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

the Corvette up for sale has been posted..The image is one of my new models so I hope you like it....

The ship needs more crew than you currently have so NPC crewmen will fill in when players are not available..they are currently not detailed, but You can ask for details as you wish, recruit better NPCs, or create secondary characters to take over those slots :D

as soon as you guys are ready I will progress the game briefly to allow you to purchase a second ship....this one wil cost the party real credits, not virtual credits earned form the last game series...

By the way your ships shares are worth about 3 million per share in upgrades or auxiliary craft/fighters for the ship.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Awesome, but image is a little dark for my phone.

I would love to create a secondary character for those slots. Just not sure if I would likely make one worse that the one you would use.
Are we better off not trying to use a Broker roll on this stuff? I did buy Broker expert software and can emulate broker 1 on my water Jack or use all my psi points and maybe get a strong broker skill for a short time ...

By second ship do you mean fighters and ships boat type things or another main craft?

Are all these weapons Gunnery? Or are some Capitol Weapons?

Can we finalize the package skill selection ?
I think people were leaning toward Starship skill package vs Traveler.
Both have Pilot, Gunnery, Sensors, Comms, Medic
Starship has enginering, mechanic, Astrogation.
Traveler has persuade, gun combat, and stealth.

There are 8 skills in one package and 10 of us.
Do we each just pick one?, or start with greenest person or youngest or whatever let them choose then go person to person until all are gone? Do skills get chosen twice? Or maybe include both packages 11 seperate skills and we each get to take one in some order?
We need final say from GM.

Re: OOC: Chat and Silliness welcomed

Since there are 10 people, teach person gets one skill even if the skill has been picked already.

a second Ship would be a Starship. But this one would be up to the players to financed and pay for. The primary ship is paid for by the group trust  fund, with busy little goblins doing the paperwork and making payments on schedule...

fighters and shuttles are also available...especially Valkiir fighters...The Valkiir love to fly, and love to fly fast agile dangerous as hell toys.
