Commercial Vessel Destroyed, 145 Dead

The commercial Starship Inga Rhae has been reported lost with all hands. The apparent victim of a commerce raiders, the heavy transport was discovered drifting dead in space off the In'janni Shoals in Hyperspace.


The Shi departed Rhoan Hu twelve days ago with a cargo of raw ores and 110 passengers. The Rhanna class heavy freighter was last reported passing the Nav Beacon on the outer reaches of the In'janii Shoals. Due to high interference in teh region all contact was lost with the ship which failed ot report in on schedule

The Patrol cutter Burke responded and detected a distress call from the Inga Rhae and proceeded to te location at best possible speed. On arrival it discovered heavy wreckage, and signs of a significant engagement

Initial reports from maritime assistance patrols indicate the vessel came under heavy fire and was boarded by an unknown force. According to witnesses who were aboard the vessel teh crew and passengers attempted to defend the ship but were overpowered and killed by boarding parties.

Found near the wreck of the Inga Rhae were several fighters believed to belong to the raiders, along with the debris of the Inga Rhae's escort craft which appeared to have been destroyed while defending the ship.

Despite being out numbered, and outgunned, the pilots of the two light fighters carried by the Inga Rhae accounted for five enemy fighters. The pilots were also lost when their fighters were destroyed by enemy fire

 The Maritime commission has not released the names of the dead, or official details of the action. However Maritime forces in the area have been put on high alert, and letters of Marque are being offered to deal with the increased raider, and privateer activity in the Region around In'jannii shoals.

he Inga Rhae is, to date, the largest vessel lost to commerce raiders operating the region. The Rhae was a 2000 displacement ton vessel with significant self defense ordnance, and a number of armed crewmen aboard for additional security. In addition the owner had recently purchased two fighters for additional protection against raiders, and criminal vessels.
