Te city has a small criminal section as expected. Unlike most cities where it is prostitution, gambling, black market goods. The Valkiir "Nyhmdrahg" (Silent Circle)specializes in services, information peddling, data intrusion, physical "Intrusion and recovery"

The Valkiir loose and light laws on substances, weapon, personal entertainment, and weapons makes most illicit goods/drug trade groups unprofitable. The sort of things illegal on a Valkkiir world are usually very nasty, and the Valkiir police are utterly ruthless on that sort of thing, with Psion support.

he local Circle has a nifty little scheme going to milk the local entertainment  center for money. mostly bet rigging , organized professional gamblers, and money lending/loan sharking. They also provide hired muscle for outside agencies such as Human or Tau Omaeda groups who are busy in their own schemes...usually off planet operations.

this is fro just conversation, overheard conversations, and checking news stories...The Nyhmdhrag is the worst kept secret society in history. The police know about them, know most of their members, and so do the operators of the casinos who in true Valkiir fashion see it as a very rough, but friendly competition.

There is an Omaeda Coven on the planet. a much less friendly group of professional criminals who run less harmless operations including DNA theft/trading, kidnapping, extortion, and information  extraction, and brokering. as well as a rumored hit  team they hire out to off world clients. ( onceagain the local law enforcement is more than happy to bend the hell out of the  rules and beat the hell out of les than cooperative informants..standard accepted procedure for Valkiir...who are by nature a bit rough on serious/violent criminals. (think about a police force made up of Mike Hammer, and Dirty Harry)

Alex from communing with the ship:

She's is well worn, and reasonably well maintained. Whole sections have been replaced from heavy battle damage. There was a boarding action, no more than one, a failed ingress and two changes in command..internal laser, ballistic, and plasma scarring adds to the story but many young people met the end here, before it was over she was taken back by her people and brought to port.

... a strong Psionic...residue from violence, and aggression. if an inanimate object has an aura this one has an aura, and feel of not only battle, but a feeling it is looking for a fight.

Nearly all the cosmetic panels, and  linings were stripped out long before she returned to port. Engineers needed fast access to vital systems. the quarters are military spartan, with a good bit of  wear and tear, The bulkheads held the firm grip of white knucles before battle, and the bed niches heard so many prayers as to be hallowed ground.

Like most ships that are fifty years or so old, it has its own fragrance. nothing new for anyone serving on a warship, but noticeable to a person who hasn't enjoyed wandering the vastness.

It has had several systems replaced and upgraded over time. so where older larger systems were installed there are small spaces, and voids where items an be stored, or hidden.

She was named by Julien, he was a Janitor in the shipyard where she was assembled. He used to bring dates over in the witching hour for picnics on the bridge and sometimes sex in the back rooms.
