[Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

As you determine standards for how the team operates, equips, communicates, or parties, post 'em up here.

Re: [Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

A note on TF47 organization:

White Cell - intelligence and direct action team #1; 7 personnel

Grey Cell - intelligence and direct action team #2; 6 personnel

Blue Cell - HQ, admin, intelligence analysis, and flight operations; 40 personnel

Green Cell - logistics and technical and scientific support; 30 personnel

Amber Cell - operations support; 20 personnel, split evenly between White and Grey Cells

TF47 also draws on various nations' special operations units to provide security for deployed Amber Cell detachments.

I'm not sure where I shoulda put this, but I think it's worth sharing. Teg, feel free to move or prune this post as you see fit.

Re: [Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

OK, have updated this from an OOC perspective...IC it won't come into effect until Spartan's new PC officially joins the team. All I've done is have Durand replace Kowalska, with his place being taken in turn by the new guy (Wilson), although as we saw in Libya team allocations will remain extremely flexible.

Rae, as Butch consists of Choi, a guy new to Grey Cell and an NPC (sorry Crewe!) I've switched radio call signs to make Choi Empire Five and Wilson Empire Two.

Also, in keeping with her status of possibly returning at some point, I've left Dancer on the team roster.

Let me know what you think and if there's anything that should be changed, otherwise I'll delete this message at the end of the week.

Cheers

Re: [Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

FYI, I may be recruiting one or two additional writers from my old (like, late 1990s) gaming group, but we'll adjust for that when and if they join.

ETA: Crad is now three-dimensional.

Yeah, that never really worked out as envisioned.  It was supposed to save us from having to spout off three names during radio comms.  'Team one flank right' is just as effective if we just designate people in advance.  I'm fine if you want to scrub that entirely.  I'm not sure it adds any value.

Re: [Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

In reply to Karolina Kowalska (msg # 13):

Hey boss, nice to see you up and about. Hope you enjoyed the vodka that Seb smuggled in to the hospital.

I think keeping the teams flexible dependent on who has the best skillset for particular mission parameters is probably best - I don't think we ever used the designated pairs / threes at any point in Libya but everything worked out OK.

And Croeso peintiwr. Which I believe is Welsh for Welcome painter.

Re: [Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

Colt Wasp

A derivative of the Colt SCAMP prototype with more modern materials engineering, the Wasp suffered the same lack of commercial success as its parent design.  The limited production run languished in Colt's vaults until Task Force 47 identified a need for its combination of portability and armor-piercing capability.

The Wasp fires a 55-grain tungsten carbide projectile at 2,200 feet per second.  The nonstandard round isn't available on the open market, making the Wasp a collector's paperweight outside a very selective logistics chain.

Ammunition: 5.56x29mm

Weight: 1.4 kg

Magazine: 27

ROF: 3

Damage: 3

Penetration: 1-1-2

Bulk: 2

Recoil: 3 single/4 burst

Range: 22 (26 w/ Trijicon RMR)

Re: [Meta] Grey Cell SOPs

Standard Deployment Package

The following is a palletized load for Grey Cell deployments with a typical Amber Cell support complement (1 mission controller, 5 intelligence support personnel, 8 security personnel).  Operatives remain free to augment this standard with mission-specific items, subject to availability by TF47 command staff.  Personal sidearms remain open to individual preference.

Weapons

• Colt Wasp* x4
• Glock 21 (suppressed) x8
• H&K MP7 (suppressed) x8
• Mk.18 CQBR rebarreled for .300 Blackout (suppressed) x8
• Sako TRG-42 x2
• Remington 870P (14" barrel) x4
• H&K HK417 x28

Non-magnified optics (red dot or holosight) are standard for Wasp, MP7, and MK.18.

Variable-power magnified optics are standard for TRG-42 (4-16x) and HK417 (1-6x).

Miniaturized thermal imagers in offset mounts are additional standard for MP7, Mk.18, and HK417.

* Classified item.  Avoid deployment in view of persons lacking FRAGARACH ALPHA clearance.
