Once they have finished up in the rhagodessa lair (feel free to back post what you do in there) the party continues through the last rooms of the Dragon Lotus guildhall.
They find the barracks room, now bearing the remains of a hasty departure, with bedsheets and personal belongings left strewn over the dozen bunk beds. Angati notices with concern that all of the sheets are spotted with mildew - if she's going to make this her lair she'll have to sort out the dampness problem.
There is the 'rum room', which true to its name is stocked with numerous barrels of the cheap dark spirit. Logan notices that the door to it is not locked - presumably there wouldn't be much point locking it in a dungeon full of thieves - so there must have been another system to ensure that the Dragon Lotus guildsman didn't overindulge.
FYI - those found drunk on duty were fed to Cruncher.
The visitor's quarters are unremarkable except for what Celene finds wedged between the bed and the wall - several pages of paper folded up with line after line of the following written on them:
eye / choker / aboleth / ettin / beholder / render / spider
eye / choker / aboleth / ettin / beholder / spider / render
eye / choker / aboleth / ettin / render / beholder / spider
eye / choker / aboleth / ettin / spider / render / render
eye / choker / aboleth / spider / beholder / render / ettin
Each line has been crossed out, the early lines tidily and the later lines with an angry scribble.
Then they reach the place labelled 'secret harbour'.
The sound of lapping waves fills the chamber, which is a natural sea cave that incorporates a large sloshing tidepool. The beach on the south, where the party enters, is made of large, coarse pebbles and runs smoothly down into the water - the bottom here is clear and sandy with none of the thick seaweed and sea urchins that made the last sea cave so dangerous.
To the north is a thin strip of beach which seethes with brightly-coloured crabs, tapering into an illusionary wall like they had seen in 'The Cauldron'. From this side they can see through it into the open harbour beyond - it looks like the cave mouth exits under a pier (this is the pier under the 'Shivering Cat' tavern, location no 16 in Sunrise district in case anyone cares).
There is a short wooden jetty protruding from the beach into the sea cavern, and at the end of this is a simple barge loaded with crates. Kassius' heart leaps as he recognises the contents... the psychedelic colored hypnotoads... the chameleon-like brass mountain snakes... he has finally found the animal contents of the Blue Nixie that he saw two days ago. Everything he needs to realise his dream of starting a dangerous critter ranch!
OOC: Seriously dude, did you never see Jurassic Park? It will all end in tears.
As they step out onto the beach from the corridor, a figure appears on the jetty. I say 'appears', because he literally shimmers into view. He is a man dressed in the leather armour of a Lotus Dragon, but with seaweed in his hair.
"We're ou' pay?" he asks in a peculiarly accented form of the common tongue.
"End of month. You give gems," he adds firmly. Angati notices that his words don't line up with his lip movements correctly.
Kibeti whines and nuzzles Kassius, drawing the hunter's attention to the bottom of the sandy sea floor in front of them. Although they have tried to disguise themselves into the coarse yellow sand, they are still visible in a few spots... There are about a dozen devil-rays lying just under the bottom of the tide pool.
