Kassius:
"We won, but Rowyn escaped and can rally more of her men, and there's still no sign of that scum, Vanthus." Kassius comments darkly.

At the risk of removing some of the tension, I am calling time on this dungeon. The remaining Dragon Lotus men disperse when they realise that their leader(s) have deserted them. But you can choose from the following options about what to investigate:

- the Lotus Lady's quarters contain significant treasure but more danger
- the natural cave part of the dungeon (with the Dragon Lotus' avoided) contains a magical ring and a magical broach, but you will have to content with this regions inhabitants
- the secret harbour contains no cash or traditional treasure, but something that Kassius will value more highly than gold

Re: The Training Hall

It's a group decision, but my oppinion is that it would be most story appropriate for us to investigate Rowyns quarters, and if possible with the help of the elemental in the next 5 rounds. It could at least move in there and set off the first couple of traps(?)

On a less story appropriate, but perhaps fun(?) note, is going to the other two places, after resting, an option? I like dungeon crawling, but I don't know about the rest of you? Oppinions, please:-)

EDIT: Where does the gas cloud fly? Is following her gaseous form out of the question?

Re: The Training Hall

Definitely agree that it makes sense to check out Rowyn's quarters.

Kassius is also still wondering where the animals from the blue Nixie were smuggled off to, and I have a suspicion they may be what's at the secret harbor. So I definitely vote for that.

I'm indifferent on the caverns. Magical loot is always nice though...

Re: The Training Hall

Alohan released his anger upon seeing his former lover erupt into a bout of gas. It was perhaps perfectly fitting. She never bothered to finished him the other night, why would he expect her to do the same now? As before, he was left unsatisfied and out of breath. He looked about the thieves at his feet, all unconscious and slowly dying. He cared little. The only ones he cared about were out of breath and littered about this room. But perhaps more importantly, the woman behind him.

"Celene. ya be okay?" he asked, turning to his dear friend. He placed a hand on her stomach where the rapier entered her body feeling somewhat guilty for what his eel had gotten them in. He didnt know it at the time but the pain Celene felt was almost amplified in his mind. A mix of guilt and and something truer. Something a friend felt when someone he loved was injured. After everything they had been through, Alohan was becoming closer and closer with his companions.

Yes, that is an option and it seems like at least Kassius is up for at least some of it. It won't take long compared to what you've already done, although the holiday season is obviously going to slow us down a bit.

Celene:

It disappears down one of the many small drains in the room. No, it can't be followed without digging up the floor of the room.

The Lotus Lady's Quarters

You have seven rounds of the earth elemental left. It takes one round to gather everybody up in the room to the east (leaving six rounds), then Angati commands it to 'go through that door and don't stop walking!'. With a playful toot like rocks crashing together, little Earthy moves to obey.

Round 6/11

The door disappears as the elemental threads it to wooden fragments and walks into a small corridor - most of the elemental is in the rock wall but it moves as quickly through this as it would through air (which is not that quick, only 40' a round).

This corridor turns south and there are two doors at the end. One is marked 'toilet', and at Angati's command the elemental bashes this down - yep, it's a toilet.

Round 7/11

Though the eastern door is a medium sized room with a few chairs in it - looks like it mark have been a guard post. The northern door looks like a cupboard so this is chosen as the earth elemental's next target.

Round 8/11
The door is destroyed and inside is a tiny 5' room. A rhagodessa is chained in this room, with the end of the chain disappearing through a slot in the wall. The creature leaps to attack but is eliminated in seconds

One trap sprung!

Round 9/11
The elemental heads east and enters a room with a large hexagonal table made of oak taking up a majority of the room, and surrounded by large chairs. The north wall bears a huge map of Sasserine, which flutters in the breeze made by the elemental's gyrating rocks. On the map are dozens of tiny flags on pin, pushed into various spots in the town - the flags are different colours... green, red, gold...

On the southern wall is a five-foot tall and ten-foot wide huge slate with a mess of chalk writings on it.

We'll have to come back to this... no time, follow that elemental!

Round 10/11
The elemental heads east and comes into a 25' foot corridor. It keeps walking with Angati close behind.

Round 11/11

This room looks like some sort of den. There is a basket with blankets in one corner and food sitting in one corner.

Earthy knows that his time has run out. With one last friendly toot that sends a stinging spray of marble sized pebbles across the party, the summoned creature is sucked back into his own place of existence.

The Lotus Lady's Quarters

Alohan followed patiently behind the walking chunk of earth, giving it the space it needed to barrel through Rowyn's personal chambers. He marveled at the thing's strength. Had the circumstances been different, Alohan couldn't picture himself going toe-to-toe with such an incredible being. While he walked, he struggled to regain his wind. His knuckles had hurt, his legs felt like a gelatinous cube, and his heart stung. He hadn't expected the betrayal of a former lover to sting -after all, he was the one usually doing the stinging- and was shocked how much it hurt. Regardless, the deed was done.

It took some time but his breath returned to him. Now, with the elemental leaving him and his companions in silence, he turned to them. "I... I be owing ya an apology" he began shrugging his shoulders. "I be tellin' Rowyn much about my... my friends when we be... between de sheets. Dis was wrong. Had I be knowin' she be using it against us dis day..." Alohan shook his head in frustration. "I be sorry"

Kassius tells Alohan with a shrug. "Who knew she'd turn out to be the Lotus Lady herself? Besides, as I said she could find out how we fight easily enough through other means. We won, so there was no harm done."

Shrugging, Kassius heads over to the basket, casually rifling through for anything of interest.

Alohan frowned at Kassius's bluntness. He knew the half-orc was right but still couldn't help feeling responsible. Shaking his head, Alohan looked to Logan in hopes he at least felt the heart behind them. Although he was losing his mind, Alohan recalled Rowyn spewing some pretty hateful stuff towards his friend. And then there was Celene -nullified by Rowyn's magics with relative ease. Perhaps the way Alohan spoke of Celene made Rowyn pay extra attention -forced her to channel her hate towards someone in particular.

Pushing the guilt from his thoughts, Alohan joined Kassius in his search, taking his time. He back tracked to the room he saw earlier, trying to make a mental image of whatever it is the Lotus Dragons were trying to find.
Finding Stuff: Alohan wants to back track to the 9/11 room (chalk writings, flags). Taking 20 should be an option, no?

The Lotus Lady's Quarters

OOC: All search rolls ignored... These are made by the DM in secret :P

The party spread out and search each of the five rooms – (1) the training room, (2) the room with the table where Gut-Tugger died, (3) the guard post with the little Rhagodessa room to the north, (4) the war-room with the hexagonal table and (5) Gut-Tugger's den.

Logan searches the training room finds every possible type of equipment that one would need to train a thief. Nothing that can be converted to hard cash though

OOC: Logan, do you want get a decent set of thieves tools or something similar? Here is a chance to pick up some masterwork quality equipment...

The next room was a sort of back office with a table - now battered to splinters. Angati searches it very carefully, but the room itself does not hold anything interesting. A search of Gut-Tugger's pulped corpse reveals a fully intact fine metallic collar with intricate runes on it. Angati checks and confirms it is magic.

OOC: It is a collar of armor +2 (functions as bracers of armor +2)

The next room was probably a guard post. Alohan searches it and finds nothing.

OOC: Sorry Ron!

The room with the hexagonal table contains a lot of VERY interesting stuff, and Celene takes her time shifting through it:
1) The map of Sasserine has dozens of flags pinned into it. There are red flags, mostly clustered around the Azure district and the outer harbour. The sorceress notices that there is a red flag on the Vanderboren mansion in the merchant district. There are many blue flags - mostly in the noble district and in the various district watches throughout the city. There are a couple of gold flags on the map as well - the only one not on one of the city watches is on the Kellani estate in the Sunrise district.

2) The slate board on the other side of the room is covered in all sorts of notes written in white chalk.  The coming and going of every ship in the harbour for the last couple of weeks is noted - several have been, or are scheduled for 'holing' - whatever that is. A note in large print in the top right hand corner, circled three times says "Make sure to pay the ixitxachitl at the end of the month!!"

OOC: What is an ixitxachitl? Anyone know without googling the answer?

Kassius and Kibeti search Gut-Tugger's lair. It is a lot cleaner than Cruncher's thankfully. In the basket Kassius finds a small collection of semi-precious stones worth 500 gp.

OOC: And that is it. Not an impressive haul, but there is a door leading east out of the "dragon's" den, maybe that is worth a shot.

Loot thread updated.

Logan nods to Alohan.  "Well, we made her run in the end, so all of her vaunted preparations didn't account for anything.  Or at least that Earth Elemental caught her by surprise.  Look, I can't say I'm happy that you were sleeping with someone who was trying to kill us, but you didn't know.  And you broke up with her, which probably explains some of her anger over the whole thing.  But I can't pretend that I've never let anything slip to the wrong person."

Logan pats Alohan on the shoulder before setting off to search.  "I guess what I'm sayin' is, maybe think before you start talking in bed next time!"

Logan inspects the training room, pocketing a set of very-well made Thieve's tools before returning to regroup with the others.

He looks around, and shrugs at the loot.  "Not bad, I suppose."  The rogue grins and barks out an uneasy laugh.  "And none of us had to die to retrieve it!"

MW Thieve's Tools added to Character Sheet.

The Lotus Lady's Quarters

Logan does the usual, and finds no traps and hears no noise. Through the door is a short corridor with a door on either side at the end...

<AUTO DUNGEON EXPLORATION MODE ENGAGED!>

...and the party heads through the left hand door (after Logan's checks review nothing). The walls, floor, and ceiling of the 15' chamber they enter have been covered in white marble tile; every inch sparkles cleanly. In the middle of the room sits a five-foot-by-ten-foot pool of clear hot water. Iron braziers sit evenly spread around the room, making cheerful reflections bounce off every surface.

The party search but find nothing but some pleasant smelling bath salts.

The door on the other side leads into a chamber with décor so opulent that it's jarring. The smooth plaster walls are painted violet and delicately crafted silver lanterns flicker softly on the wall, lighting the entire room. A shelf to the north holds several books, statuettes, stuffed animals, a crystal ball with a smoky red light at its core, and two coffers; one of darkwood and one of iron decorated with tiny jade bats. A five-foot-wide landscape of the city of Sasserine hangs on the eastern wall, yet all of the ships in the harbor fly flags depicting a serpentine dragon coiled around a lotus.

A pair of overstuffed chairs sit beside a low table heaped with fruit and bottles of wine - next to the table is a polished liquor cabinet. To the south stands a lone wooden cupboard. The floor itself is adorned with a thick, deep purple carpet. An open door to the south leads to what appears to be a bedroom so the party continues cautiously.

The floor of the bedroom is carpeted with luxuriously deep purple woollen rugs, and the walls are smoothed with plaster and painted a soothing light velvet, except in one section where a large floor to ceiling mirror has been bolted on - its worn edges being the only thing in the room being anything less than perfect. A delicate crystalline chandelier hangs from the centre of the ceiling. To the south, a dressing table sits next to a padded stool, and a large canopied bed with silk sheets looms to the southeast. Between these two objects sits a heap of oversized cushions.

The party pillages the rooms... opps, sorry, searches the rooms and finds the following:

Books
All novels, mostly adventure stories or erotica of the type that the old ladies in the Shrine of Liir tended to favour. No particular value.

Statuettes
A large collection, all made of the same strange sort of polished purple stone -> no-one in the party has ever seen anything like it. All the little statuettes are of things like succubuses, displacer beasts doing unpleasantly sexual things to unicorns or other mythical creatures... Not a nice collection, but worth 1,000 gp to the right buyer!

Stuffed Animals
These consist of small but dangerous creatures like stirges, cobras, Small monstrous
spiders, and even what looks to be a giant shrew the size of a cat. None of these are worth much more than a few gold coins.

Crystal Ball
Darkwood Coffer
This box is worth 150gp by itself and inside are a dozen silver and gold necklaces worth a total of 500gp.

Iron Coffer
This box is also wroth 150 gp. Inside are dozens of rings and earrings worth a total of 750gp.

Painting of Sasserine Harbour
Considering what this picture depicts - every ship in the harbour taken over by the Lotus Dragon thieves guild - and you just killed most of the potential buyers who would be interested in that, this painting is now worthless. That said, Angati feels there is something familiar about this watercolour. What is it?

Perception check to figure it out or if you are man enough Beni, have a guess! :P

Wine
Two bottles of Alphatian red. The best! How on earth did it get all the way to Sasserine? 50gp or just enjoy them

Liquor Cabinet
Full of liquor! Good quality top shelf stuff, time to get the party started!

Wooden Cupboard
This contains lots of clothing sized for a human woman - ladies take up to three sets of any clothing type you feel like. Also, it contains three particularly spectacular outfits: a ball dress worth at least 75gp, a flowing robe of shimmering lavender silk worth an amazing 450 gp - but the cut of this is so scandalous that it could only be worn in very intimate company. Actually, Alohan actually recognises this last item of clothing :D

Crystal Ball
Celene gets all excited - for about five seconds until she realises that the smoky shimmer in the middle is just a simple illusion. With disgust she figures out that this trinket isn't worth more than 100gp.

So, 3,225gp in total, which isn't as good as Parrot Island. Who would have thought that zombie pirates would have more treasure than the real thing, but maybe the profit margins in the pirating industry were a little better back then.

Players? Bah, who needs 'em! I'm gunna explore this dungeon all by myself!!

Logan hurries from new cache of tiny treasure to the next, his eyes glimmering like a youth set loose in a sweets-shop.  He passes over the books with too-eager haste, stopping to turn over a few of the deviant statues.  "I'm going to have to expand my list of fences...they're going to start asking questions..." the rogue muses to himself.

He smiles as he runs his fingers through the necklaces and rings.  "Jewelry is much easier..."

The rogue hefts the bottles of wine and sniffs at the labels, then puts them down, shrugging.  His eyes, however, light up at the liquor cabinet.  "Now this I can appreciate!  Alohan, maybe we can drink enough to forget about Rowyn.  Think of it as her parting gift."

The rogue slowly whistles at the silk robe, and he shakes his head, blushing when his gaze passes over Alohan.  "Can hardly blame you for talkin'.  That lady knew how to dress!"

Celene has a look, grabs the edges and tries to move the mirror. She feels it budge a bit! Logan is called over to check for traps. The thief decalres it safe and together they manage to slide the mirror to one side. The mechanism is in need of maintenance and it is quite hard work, hence the sides being worn down.
