Urol misses with his crossbow.

Liamae assess the situation. She is heavily wounded, unarmed and has just used her last spell. To make matters worse, the bullywug on her left who is currently terrified out of its brain will no doubt recover in the next round or two so this might be her best shot of escaping the corner of the room.

She picks her moment, waiting for the rust monster to be distracted by Alohan, then tries to rush past it (triggering an AoO). The beast is not fooled, and attacks as she passes, biting at her legs (2 hp damage) and only stopping when Alohan's blows force it to turn away to defend itself. Liamae stumbles, but manages to get to the other corner of the basement where she is protected by Alohan (1 hp remaining!).

The chieftain then starts working his way around the elegant Harliss (5' step) as he swipes at her with his club. Despite a pretty good attack the pirate is too nibble for him and his blow goes over her head.

BW1 continues to cower in fear.

BW5 takes a 5' step to the SE and attack Celene. She is an easy target and the startled cleric suddenly finds herself winded by a strong blow to her stomach that leaves her bruised and bleeding (8 hp damage).

BW3 does his best to follow his leader's instructions, and flops to the SE where he attacks Angati but misses.

The snarling rust monster tries to break past Alohan to the more tasty Liamae, but the barbarian stands firm and blocks the creature's biting attacks.

OOC: not such a good round for the BW's this time around. BW1 is no longer afraid though.

Urol misses with his crossbow again (we really should've given him a better secondary weapon John) as does Kassius.

Kibeti savages BW3, but does not quite kill it.

Alohan considered grappling the rust monster but decided against it. They were short on time and he didn't want to risk endangering anyone needlessly. Instead he set his feet, baiting the rust monster forward. He swung his taiaha down in anticipation but the rust monster didn't budge. A pity, as the force Alohan put behind the swing was enough to split a coconut.

Seeing Alohan's disadvantageous position, the rust monster shuffled a bit, opening itself to Alohan's quick flourish. He brought the jade pointy end to bare and clipped the monster. Was but a flesh wound and Alohan readied himself, confident his hardened -bark-like- skin could withstand any future engagements.

Angati swings and misses

OOC: Wa-hoo! Welcome back Beni! Yes, please do treat go ahead and cross off 2 x lesser restoration - this might help Angati survive to the end of the adventure without changing into a savage beast.

Celene sprays magical purple flames over her enemies. Harliss laughs and flips out of the way of the fire in such a way that it seems as though the flames are moving sluggishly (automatically passes DC check and takes no damage at all due to evasion feat). All three bullywugs do not manage to move with the same level of grace and take full damage. Both of the regular BW's scream (croak?) and fall to the floor, only the enticing smell of fried frogs legs marking their presence. The chief takes some terrible burns but keeps moving.

Harliss slips a dagger out of her belt and attacks with both it and her rapier - the chief neatly side steps. Liamae stays pressed in the corner behind Alohan. Without a weapon, with no spells left and heavily damaged there is not much she can do.

No map update this time. BW1 has moved to B8, otherwise the remaing opponents (the chief and the rust monster) remain where they are. BW3 & BW5 are dead.

Angati moved onto Chief Lorth, stepping over the carbonised remains of one smaller bullywug, without even noticing the crunch under her boots. Her eyes were of a dangerous green just as she approached and the morning star started its dangerous sweep in a downward arc.

Mid swing however, Angati's eyes seemed to focus again breaking the movement and loosing all momentum. "What ?" was all she could say as the ball missed the bullywug.

Okay, acknowledged. Bah. That means you're both probably gunna be okay, i.e. not turn into horrible creatures before the end of the adventure. How dull.

Angati misses. Celene actually hits with her little flame attack (7 hp damage). The short-sighted gnome thinks he has finally lands a hit on the old bullywug chief, but the bolt has in fact just embedded itself in the penetrates the creature's thick hide armor (5 hp). (Heh! With the -4 penality for Lorpth being in melee, Urol actually misses). Both Kassius and Kibeti miss.

Okay, just Alohan and the NPC's left I think.

Liamae continues to take shelter in the corner. Harliss begins to hum a tune out loud as she capitalises on the distraction that Kibeti and Angati are now offering. Her remarkable swordsmanship becomes obvious as she starts cutting the bullywug chief apart (confirmed crit, 30 hp damage!).

Chief Lorpth staggers back, his throat pouch struggling to inflate and deflate quick enough to keep up with his gurgling breathes. [Language unknown: "Ate! Miun isio no!"] he screams, and barrels towards the door - choosing a route that will at least void Harliss' reach.

He triggers AoO from Alohan and Celene. If you hit AC19 and do more than 1 point of damage you kill him.

The last bullywug foot solder rushes to comply and makes his own way out of the corner.

He triggers AoO from Kibeti and Angati. If you hit AC17 and do more than 21 points of damage you kill him.

The rust monster, not knowing any better, keeps attacking Alohan and actually manages to bit the barbarian for the first time (3 hp damage).

I'll pause here until the AoO are resolved.

The rust monster's hide was thicker than he had anticipated and Alohan found himself taken labored breaths in-between slams of his taiaha. Chief Lorpth -in his effort to avoid Harliss- stepped a bit too close to the Islander. He was not over exerted enough to throw a swing out but he was too far away to be effectual. Out of hte corner of his eye, the last bullywug began to flee. This one wasn't about to dodge his weapon as Alohan brought it back around to crack the bullywug on the side.

Satisfied with the results, the Islander turned his attention back to the rust monster.

Angati tried to catch the frog thing as it passed next to her, the swing of the morningstar was slow however and the thing managed to duck away below the big ball as it hummed over its head.

@Ron, hang on, I am confused now. Doesn't he only trigger one AoO from Alohan? This occurs when he enters the square threatened by Alohan from the square threatened by Harliss. Alohan doesn't get an AoO when he LEAVES Alohan's threatened square does he?

Also, I don't think he triggers an AoO from Harliis, am I right?

Also, maybe he doesn't trigger an AoO from Celene since she isn't carrying a melee weapon?

Would it be different if he was making an attack at some point along his escape route? Would it then not be a 'withdrawal' but a normal 'move' meaning there would be different AoO triggering rules.

Oh, and Ron, none of your three AoO rolls would have been high enough to hit him anyway When am I gunna see you roll higher than 10 on a d20, eh bro? :D :P

Celene now with dagger in hand moved until she could see around the corner of the room into the hallway where Lorpth had fled. She casually pointed her wand at the chief and fired a mote of energy into his lumpy body. The frogman pitches forward mid-step and falls to the floor skidding slightly before stopping.

Chief Lorpth comes crashing down, falling just short of the little stream running through the basement.

The remaining bullywug is brought down in a hail of arrows, biting, clawing and morning-star attacks and Alohan finishes off the rust monster. The cellar, now awash with green blood, is silent except for a gurgling rasp coming from the pierced throat pouch of the giant old bullywug. Harliss steps forward over him, the tip of her rapier pushed against the end of the frogman's nose.

[Language unknown: "Il sheanyica som oulndevir il bewas ard miilncel, ulanbe nt are ll,"] gasped Lorpth.

Harliss rams the point of the blade through the back of the creature's skull. "This is my way of asking Lorpth," chuckles the swordswoman.

Liamae grabs hold of Alohan's arm. "Thank you, thank you to all of you," she cries. "But we need to save the rest of the Jade Ravens, and Lavinia too of course." She pushes back he long dark hair and looks around the group. "I have used all my spells, but I have some wands that could be useful. If you could just provide some healing, then I can help you..."
