With assistance from her magic, Angati manages to break free of the vine horror... but she climbs to her feet to find herself surrounded by the terrible creatures.
By some miracle, Celene actually managers to break free of her entanglement. She escapes from the grapple... And VH#4 jumps straight back on top of her.
Kassius casts his spell and Kibeti misses again and again.
Kinstal roars and tries to charge VH#4 in the hope of taking some of the pressure off Celene... but he has forgotten how difficult it is to move through the muck. (You can't charge in difficult terrain and all the seaweed is difficult terrain). Instead he ends up sloshing through to VH#4, ignoring the clumsy attacks from VH#2 & VH#3 as he moves past them (AoO miss) and attacking VH#4 normally... he misses.
Logan halts in his flight and sees that Celene is in trouble. He moves to F10 and also attacks VH#4. He takes the opportunity to sneak attack it while it is busy trying to regrapple Celene (flanking) but misses.
Urol grabs a flask from his belt, adds a drop of reactant and then lobs the bubbling brew at the nearest enemy (VH#2). It is a perfect hit and in addition to it blowing a good chuck of seaweed off (14 hp), the creature is frozen and starts moving sluggishly (VH#2 is staggered). The alchemist shakes his head sadly.
"Such a shame," he mutters.
Skald curses as he sees how little effect the rapiers of his friends are having. He drops his bow, draws his scimatar and leaps down onto the seaweed below (G5), almost landing on one of the creatures (VH#2). His leap is elegant but he misses by a mile.
Alohan bellows and continues cutting through VH1 - he inflicts great damage despite his weapon not being a smart tool for the job (18 hp after DR).
Celene:
Celene had been prepared to die as soon as she was grabbed. That didn't mean she was going out without a fight. She bucked and heaved with all her might trying to break through the vines that bound her.
OOC: Ugh. What was she doing down there anyway? When the DM asks who wants to get out and try and free the ship, the arcane caster should always be suddenly busy elsewhere. And she wouldn't have even been strong enough to help much in anycase.
OOC: Anyway, I think that is everyone.
<SEAWEED TURN>
(Map update latter).
VH1 attacks Kibeti and connects once (8 hp).
VH3 hits Kinstal even as the warrior tries to pull Celene out of the combat (9 hp). VH2 (staggered due to Urol's potion) charges Kinstal (as a full round action) but misses.
The two vine horrors attacking Celene continue - despite their staggered condition and Kinstal trying to stick his body in the way (bodyguard) it is hopeless and they both hit (13 hp).
The rest of the vine horrors surround Angati, seemingly singling her our for special attention. The oracle goes onto full defense and covers up, doing a good job of defending herself until one manages to get a lucky hit in (confirmed crit).
Angati screws up her face and draws upon her magical power to reverse the flow of time and find a better reality for herself. The first alternate reality that appears in her mind is very strange - a big hole appears in the ground beneath her and she falls into it. The hole closes over her. Not too worried, this sort of thing happens after all when you flash through random alternate realities, she flips to the next... it is the same.
In increasing panic Angati continues to flip again and again through alternate reality after alternate reality, always seeing the same thing. Eventually time runs out and she is forced to be sucked into the terrible and explainable fate that she seems to have created for herself.
A hole appears in the seaweed directly under Angati and she disappears into it. A split second later the hole closes over her and she is gone. The multitude of seaweed men around her pause for a second, looking down at where she has disappeared. Then they raise their heads to the sky and crow in triumpt, raising a terrible dissonant hissing scream. This is the first noise that they have vocalised.
