Does Celene have cover on Kinstal's back? If so I would not provoke.

Sure. They have to go through him to get to her. The question is what are you going to do this round?

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

From Kinstals back Celene focused her will and warped the fabric of the seaweed until a hole opened in the spongy surface. It threatened to send four of the vine creatures tumbling into its depth. The sorceress then leapt from to the ground and ran towards the ship.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

One thing these creatures do not have is quick reflexes, but they seem to gain some advantage from the terrain...

18:46, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 11,20,19,18 using 1d20+1,1d20+1,1d20+1,1d20+1.  VH8, 6, 3 & 3 reflex save DC20.
OOC: Ohh... look at that rolling. And no MF since Angati is dead. :P

OOC: Damn, I forgot that 6 & 8 were slowed. In that case all fail :/

All four of the creatures fall into the pit. (Damage: VH8: 17, VH6: 10, VH3: 9, VH2: 15... and no DR of course)

Her work done, the sorceress climbs up into the Sea Wyvern.

Don't forget any vine horror that ends its turn adjacent to the pit has to make a save, with a +2 bonus, or fall in.

Kassius holds the bow to one side, and then calls forth his magic. The sargasso twists and churns even more, now turning against the foe to bind them in place.

"Get back up to the boat, and we'll try and shoot them down!" He suggests.

Kibeti meanwhile moves around, nipping at the closest vine monster.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Kassius places his spell perfectly and all of the seaweed men are caught in it (moved the spell focus to the best spot, didn't seem to be any disadvantage in doing so.) All but four of the vine horrors become entangled.

PASSES:
VH6, 3,  9 & 10
The rest are entangled.

Logan fires an arrow and nails the perfect shot - the missile lodges into the forehead of his target. Unfortunately the plant man seems totally unaffected by it! (0 hp damage after DR, remember they have DR 5/magic and slashing).

OOC: May I recommend taking over a ballista from a sailor or perhaps using some of the oil that is being brought up from the hold?

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

I totally forgot Kibeti's action.

The cat slogs forward, getting more and more grotty seaweed over himself. He bites VH5, does no damage, but shoots sprout from the plant man's body and entangle him.

OOC: Which is good, because VH5 wasn't caught up in Kassius' entanglement spell, although I treated him as being so. Now he is entangled anyway.

OOC: Note, also corrected my post above to note that Logan did 0 points of damage after DR, not 9 (type).

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

OOC: Moving Kinstal in DM-mode.

Kinstal wants to ignore Kassius' call to return to the ship and set up a line of defense. He is relatively undamaged, has good armor and his longsword is perfect for that task of cutting these vine men down to size. But he is adjacent to the magical pit that the sorceress has created and it would leave him open to attack if he were to change position. With a shrug he moves back up onto the ship.

Skald joins him.

Alohan shows no sign of stopping though. Unfazed by the unsuitability of his weapon (come on, no slashing weapons are all? Not even a little MSW dagger? Jeez), the man just decides to hit the creatures harder. He hits twice (11 hp on VH5 after DR).

Sailors crack open the barrels of oil and begin to fill smaller containers than can be thrown. Other sailors light torches.

OOC: So the flasks they are filling up with oil are going to act like 'Alchemist's Fire'.

<END OF PLAYERS' TURN>

All but three of the vine horrors are entangled, and two of them which are not are at the bottom of the magical pit (VH3 & 6 are free but in the pit, only VH10 is totally free and he is at the back).

The three vine horrors in the pit make no move to free themselves. Instead they jerk their faceless heads up to the sky and howl, they are joined by the three creatures at the back (10, 11 & 13). Suddenly the row of sargasso behind Kibeti and Alohan burst into life as seaweed seems to come alive as a tangled mass of flayling fronds and thick rope-like braided weed start thrashing around. The cat and the raging native suddenly find themselves under attack from all sides.

OOC: These patches of active seaweed are functionally the same as assassin vines, but normal sized rather than large.

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG...ry/assassinVine.html

Alohan is hit by one patch of seaweed (8 hp) and it gets a free grapple attack - of course it fails against the party's grapple specialist.

OOC: BTW Celene, can you please check Alohan's character sheet and recalculate his armor classes, I think there is an error.

Kibeti is hit twice (22 hp of damage) and then wrapped up in a grapple (by seaweed 'd'). VH5 attacks Kibeti but is too entangled to do any damage.

The remaining five seaweed men (VH4, 7, 9, 12 & 14) remain very still. Then their form starts breaking up as they loose cohesion and start squirming out of the entangling bonds.

OOC: Please remove their entangled condition and they will be free to move next round, although still inside the entanglement spell area.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Did 9, 14, 4 save vs. falling into the pit? I'm not sure how entangle interacts with that effect.

I guess it doesn't matter if they used their turn to un-entangle. They have to save at the end.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Celene called fire to her arms and then thrust them forward. A lance of purple flame flew from her hand towards the vine wrapped around Kibeti.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Celene:
Did 9, 14, 4 save vs. falling into the pit? I'm not sure how entangle interacts with that effect.

I guess it doesn't matter if they used their turn to un-entangle. They have to save at the end.

Damn, I totally forgot about that!

16:30, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 10,4,10 using 1d20+3,1d20+3,1d20+3.  VH4, 6 & 14 reflex save.

All three of them fall in...

16:31, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 10,5,11 using 3d6,3d6,3d6.  Damage on 4, 9 & 14.

...and take lots of damage. They still manage to squish their way out of the entanglement though.

Not sure if it matters but I hit a assassin vine. Don't know if the same 8 DMG to free someone applies.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Kibeti whimpers in pain as the vines strike it. When Celene's firebolt frees him, the cat glances looks up at her briefly, and nods in silent appreciation. Then he backs away from the remaining vines, scratching and clawing in a far more defensive posture then before. Seeing his companion in grave danger.

Kassius meanwhile continues firing arrows, hoping to shoot down the remaining vines.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Alohan forgoes his fists and draws his taiaha. The islander took the weapon in both hands and smashed down on the vine that had just released Kibeti. The weapon flattened the vine to the spongy floor and Alohan pivoted to strike at the vine that had been shot by Kassius; that vine crumpled to the sargasso as well. The frenzied warrior spun to attack the vine directly behind him the weapon struck once more fraying the vine.
