OOC Chat

You are correct Thrir, the King has only commanded the presence of those who traveled with or knew Frálin.  Thrir is free to do as he pleases for the next day, including preparation for his trip or spending time with his Mother or other friends.  However, if Thrir wishes to find out more about what is happening he might be able to ask around or even sneak into the hall (I don't recommend that, but I've had players try similar actions).

Right now there are more dwarves there than the King has summoned, mainly because a lot of the common dwarves have heard the news and want answers, its a big deal when the son of a King is murdered in your own realm so they are understandably concerned; equal parts frightened and angry I'd expect.  They are waiting for an address from their King, but he is trying to gather all the facts first, as any wise leader would do.

Btw, Dwain responds positively to Thrir's earlier question and says he will reimburse Thrir for the price of a mount, if he will find and buy one to his liking. :-)

I'm not sure whether Noin would know Fralin, or if not whether he could have gained admittance to the hall (through the main entrance, not sneaking around)?

Noin is the son of Lord Balin, he is a noble and most certainly could gain admittance if he wished to Noin.   Also, as I mentioned there are a crowd of dwarves there waiting to here the King speak because they don't know all the facts, just like in real life.

Noin probably did not know Frálin, but then the crowd in the great hall didn't know him either.  You may know of him though.  He was the son of King Gálin Wide blade of Ered Luin who arrived that very morning to speak with King Thorin.

So if Noin wants to be there he most certainly can be.  Noin does not see Dwain there however.

Way to pick up the slack Noin!

Bound to get some good information with a roll like that.

Actually to make your Ability check, in second edition, you need to roll your stat or under!  Therefore a roll of one is a success while a twenty is a miss.   Having played third for years now I always have to remind myself of that it's different in second.  Low rolls in ability checks and initiative, high to hit and saves :-)

Oh, well it seems we have the bases covered between us, heh.

I'll go back and edit my post to reflect that.

Re: OOC Chat

Working on a post for Kronin and Noin, but was interrupted by a dinner invite lol.  On my iPad now and will finish when I get home.  Thank you for your patience as always.

On a side note I was thinking, which as you have probably guessed by now, is a dangerous pastime.   I believe weapon specialization should give a bonus to weapon speed factor say -1 and -2 for double specializing.   What do you think?

Re: OOC Chat

It makes sense and is another small boost for warriors.  It would apply to players and foes alike and be cumulative with the bonus to SF for magic weapons, so that is why I am asking for input.

Oh and, just in case anyone is curious, Thrir is currently in the middle of something in another thread, he's still very much around  :-)

Skills and Powers
Two Handed Weapon Fighting Style Specialization lowers speed factor.

Though I don't have a problem with it being allowed through other means.

Re: OOC Chat

As long as it's applied to enemies as well, I would be alright with it. I think the non fighters should have a stronger say on the matter however.

Re: OOC Chat

Excellent, then we shall consider it a House Rule that,  henceforth, those who are specialized in a weapon will receive a -1 bonus to that weapon type's speed factor, and any who are double specialized have that bonus doubled to -2.

Thanks everyone for your input, I always appreciate feedback.  Alright I'm going to post. sorry for the delay but work has been long and hard lately with all the hurricane relief orders we are doing.  Thank you for your continuing patience and I hope that, if anyone lives in the areas being affected by these terrible storms, that they and their loved ones are safe.

Crafting some posts now, very sorry for the delay; these six day work weeks are wearing me down.  I'll have something up in a bit, and yes, Kronin and Noin are only a room apart, they can and should talk things through.

Re: OOC Chat

I know things have gotten a bit crazy in the Great Hall of Thror, or more specifically the Chamber of Nain.  I think Kronin and Noin (Hanar and Bosi too) are nearly done with the "scene of the crime" and are likely returning to see the King.  Just let me finish off...er ahem I mean finish with Evia and Brogur, and then perhaps I can get everyone together in the actual main Hall :)

By the way, I am thrilled at how well you've done with the mystery so far, you guys took to it with a will and figured things out pretty handily.  Seriously you didn't miss a thing and you've gotten most of the puzzle pieces I think.  Just one more left to go :)

Oh and Thrir I'm thrilled you've survived this long :P I'm just kidding.  I'm having a lot of fun with your thread too, you're character is bad ass my friend :)

Ymir, I promise we'll gather the troops soon and get you back in there, I appreciate your patience believe me.  Its always a challenge when the party spreads out, but it does happen and you've been very understanding.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this all ties up, I seriously have an excellent group of players here :)

Re: OOC Chat

You are doing well, Thrir.  Its a tough taking on two opponents and the dice roller isn't helping lol.

I'll post for your thread tomorrow my friend, its almost midnight and I have to be up for six am as usual.  I meant to do it tonight, I just ran out of time and energy.  Sorry to make you wait, I promise it will be the first post I do tomorrow :)
