Re: OOC Chat
Hello everyone. I know it's been a very long time since I've posted anything on RPOL, and for that I sincerely apologize. You guys deserve better and I will be amazed if anyone is still around. You're certainly owed an explanation at the very least; an explanation that is, not an excuse, for I have no excuse for not reaching out sooner. I have had a series of unfortunate events occur going from bad to catastrophic. It started with my PC, the one I used to write on, for hours at a time. My hard drive completely died on me; in fact I still cannot get online with it or even onto it to retrieve my files. I'm actually typing this on my cellphone. Even so, that's something I could have gotten repaired, and would have, except I have had a far more pressing concern.
My wife's health has been deteriorating for some time now, and after several bad falls and calls to 911, finally one night last year things got bad enough that I had to leave work call 911 and go with my wife by ambulance to the nearest hospital. There we stayed ( I took a leave of absence from work) for about a week while my wife endured treatment for severe anemia and infections. She has long been unable to take more than a few steps, but now she is so weak she can no longer get out of bed without assistance. Eventually she was discharged and sent to a rehabilitation facility, since she could no longer physically get into our apartment except by stretcher. And so, while I visited her as much as I could, we were forced to find another place to live.
We finally found an independent retirement community that had trained personnel to look after her needs while I am at work ( which I definitely need to keep doing because none of this is cheap). So I continued to stay off of work as I now had to pack up our two bedroom two bathroom apartment to move into our much smaller unit here. I swear I NEVER want to do that again! Seriously it's one of the hardest things I've ever done. I'm frankly amazed I got it all done in time.
So we have been living in the retirement community for about five months now. My wife receives regular nursing and both physical and occupational therapy. She's making some progress and is finally able to stand for about a minute and transfer to a wheelchair with supervision. We are hopeful that she can eventually transfer completely on her own, but even so, our world has irrevocably changed.
That's the abridged version of what's kept me away from RPOL. I am truly sorry it took so long to get back here. I'd like to get back to this campaign. I loved writing for everyone and getting to know each of you. Honestly though, I'm not sure when I'll be able to do that, and I will not ask you to wait. When I do return, however I would be honored if any of my players wished to continue with this extraordinary campaign. I will check in periodically and let you know how things are progressing. Hopefully in a month or two I can get my PC fixed, it just depends on my finances and availability.
Contritely yours: Eru.
