Jonathan is prepared to take the step out, to see assess the situation. But after George's remark he stands put, but kneels, gun in hand, prepared to meet what is approaching with a bullet.

Re: Saturday August 8th, 12:30am

Luna shuffles inside the room, a glint of anticipation in his eye, while Kit steps out onto the balcony. Below he sees the group from outside rushing towards the stairs, drawn by the recent gunshots. There are three of them, but one leaves Kit doubting his sanity. It is a hulking, scaled, fish-headed travesty of a man, with bulging eyes, gaping gills and sharp clawed hands.

Kit make a stability roll, DC4.

Jonathan is eager, but waiting to see the party climbing the stairs. He is certain Kit or George will tell if need be to go out.

Kit's eyes widen. Without hesitation, he raises his pistol and shoots at the fish-man-thing and then ducks inside.

"More coming! And one of them is...I don't know. Get ready!"

He moves behind the door, checking the chamber of his gun quickly to see how he's doing on ammunition.

Stability spend of 3, pretty much guaranteeing success.
19:21, Today: Christopher 'Kit' Cavendish rolled 5 using 1d6+3.  Stability check, spend 3.

Firearms shot at fish-man--TN 4 for 3 damage.

19:23, Today: Christopher 'Kit' Cavendish rolled 3 using 1d6.  Damage (if that hits).
19:23, Today: Christopher 'Kit' Cavendish rolled 4 using 1d6.  Firearm at fish-man!

Kit retreats into the bedroom, unsure of what effect his bullet had. There are muffled shouts from the entrance hall, and a stampede of footsteps up the old wooden stairs. Then silence...

I am assuming no-one is peeking their head around the door. If you are, post before the weekend, otherwise will move things along further...

The footsteps do not approach the door and the noise dies down, although your can hear whispered discussion taking place nearby. Then a voice, with an educated Bermudan accent, rings out.

"Lord Deville! May I come in and discuss this unfortunate situation. I am unarmed"

Re: Saturday August 8th, 12:30am

You hear heavy footsteps approaching, and into the room steps a corpulent, middle-aged, pale-skinned Bermudan, with an unusually large head hardly concealed by straggles of thin hair and bulging eyes that rarely blink. He is dressed in an expensive but conservatively cut suit with a golden pocket watch hanging from his jacket pocket. The man is carrying an oil lap which bathes the room in a ruddy red glow. He singles out Jonathan at once.

Dr. Goodman sees, to one side, the young American Kit Cavendish keeping a bead on the man with a gun. "Step inside and step out of the doorway" he instructs, his voice grim.

Despite Jonathan's admonition, Dr Goodman places the lamp on a cabinet by the door, keeping his hands visible.

Kit's eyes narrow. "Jonathan, move the lamp. Check it to make sure there aren't any surprises.." He cocks the hammer on his pistol, ready to shoot the man. "Start talking, sunshine. Start with how his Lordship's father got mixed up in all this."

Jonathan stretches forward, moving the lamp to see nothing fishy is going on.

He puts it where he best avoid anyone seeing him and the group, and yet Dr Goodman is clearly seen.

"My tale begins many years ago. I was a young lawyer..."

Goodman's voice drones on, his watch flashing gold in the lamplight. You seem to lose track of the conversation for a long moment, but suddenly Percival cries out, clearly terrified. "He's trying to put us into a trance!"

Made a 2 point spend of Psychoanalysis on his behalf.

Kit, already jumpy, doesn't think--he just fires. A bullet penetrates the man's chest...

Clean shot, clean hit for 6 damage (at least, assuming no bonus for point-blank range).

Kit's bullet hits the doctor mid torso, and, as in the police van earlier, there is a flare of light from under Goodman's shirt and for a few moments he appears unharmed, before Jonathan's bullet nails him under the heart and sends him tumbling to the floor...

The old man is breathing - just - but bleeding out. You all hear a roar of anger from outside and the rush of footsteps charging the room.

Have to go back and add all the point spends for the last year!
