Re: Out of Character Discussion
But how does one KNOW that he actually ascended? I mean, people keep saying it sure... but the only possibly proof that I have seen, is the Quest in Oblivion where you need an artifact of Aedra blood. But, I can't think of any other reference in game, other then him being labled as such.
As for the Thalmor/Altmer. I agree. While I agree with the Dominion (Unified Mer kind), the Thalmor are... Racist. As for believing they have a right to Tamriel... they sort of do. I mean, this land was almost exclusively elves, till the Humans showed up in the first Era. So to say they have as much right to it as the humans have to the throne, is true. It was a Human that created an Empire, it would be a human that has the right to the Imperial throne. As for the MMO, it is interesting to see the Dominion more for how I see it, then as just a bunch of bigots. Also, their are various factions within the Dominion, the Thalmor just happen to be the ones in power.
As for the Graphic design yes. I understand that, most shops looked very similar. But, 3d dungeon maps, non-linar dungeons, and the Random Dungeon Generator? Come on... those were awesome.
Plus... I wish they had kept some of the skills... like climbing. And time had more of a factor (Time sensitive quests). Their is no sense of urgency in the newer games.... A dragon attacked the Watchtower! Eh... I am going to go fishing, then go to Markarth, and kill some forsworn, and then skip through the lilly's while I join the Dawnguard! What? It's been almost 2 years, and the dragon is still at the watchtower?
Time should matter.. things should move along... and hell, quests should be be able to be failed. Some can, granted, but most can't.
Also, factions... I know their are some mods that add to this, but I wish that their were factions. But I guess that's me thinking beyond the scope of the game, and thinking it more like an Open RPG and less like an RPG Adventure... And the guilds... are kinda empty. Not in like, their aren't any people in them, though.. that is something, but also they sorta just.. are their to fill out roles.
Brotherhood is sorta shoehorned in almost. But, really, it plays allot like the Oblivion questline, and more or less ends the same (you become listener). But instead of just getting money from your hommies who are doing the killing, you gotta do it yourself.
Companions has the Werewolf thing, which was kinda cool. But seeing as that is the only way one can become a were in the game, and the few extra totem quests, once your done with their line... its just a place to go sleep and possibly get a follower. Also, legendary mead hall, and their are....8 people?
College is SO over the top. And Becoming Archmage really doesn't do anything except give you another set of sleeping quarters. Though, with the removal of magic item creation being an exclusive mage guild thing, and spell crafting all together, what else could they have? I did like the staff maker in the Dragonborn DLC... that was nifty.
Then you have the Civil War questline. Regardless of who you pick, the game plays out mostly the same, and your rank means nothing. You can never recruit Imperial/Stormcloak Soldiers to be your followers. You can't wipe out the camps dotting the landscape, can't kill the enemy Jarls, and even after you START the questline, you can still walk into enemy towns like nothings happening.
Guess I am just overthinking things.. or just want more.
