Re: What's happening with the game?

I can relate to that.  I have about twenty at the moment waiting to be read but
the weather has not been cooperating to allow me that pleasure.

Re: What's happening with the game?

Yeah, I also can agree with that.  Currently I'm reading some of the New Jedi Order books, but after the last WoT book...not much can really compare.

Books

Since I have to spend two hours each day on a train I got quite some time to read each day. Right now I'm reading a Tom Clancy book. After all that fantasy book I needed something more ... uhm ... 'real'. Before that I read 'The Orcs' by Stan Nichols but I didn't like it that much ...

Have you read any of the Drizzt Do'Urden books?  Those are pretty good.

Re: Books

Actually I've read all of them exept the 'Hunter's Blade'-Trilogy. I hope that the first one of those books comes out as a paperback soon.

I also read the books by Elaine Cunningham about Liriel Baenre. Those two were really good.

Re: Books

Legacy was the last one I read.  I was always amused after those books came out the sudden craze to be a drow.

We'd been playing drow long before those books were written and had a number of unique characters but after that everyone had to be dual blade wielding drow and newbies to our group could not quite wrap their heads around why we were staying away from the Drow.

After all, nothing quite compares to the old thrills of the D1-3, Q1 series. *grin*

Re: Books

We never had that kind of problem. Drow are twisted and evil and there are not that much exceptions. It's nice to read 'bout Drizzt but play him? No way!

The books of Salvatore made me really want to play a dwarf. Ivan and Pikel were my favourites *g*

Re: Books

Our drow PCs were evil, but tended to be renegades in that they leaned between the neutral and lawful variety of evil and the campaign dealt with oddly enough having to prevent an even greater evil from being unleashed by a bunch of misled do-gooders.

It was quite fun at the time but in the end the entire group decided that being heroes was much more fulfilling. :)

Dwarves are awesome...my personal fav. is a dwarven barbarian.  So many loopholes in that class!!

Re: Books

The fast movement is nice when combined with any of the "slower" folk.  :)

I tend toward humans, halflings and elves myself with my mood determining the choice.  While I will play any class the most common tend to be rogues, clerics, and rangers.

Re: Books

I'm not even close to play in enough groups to try all the classes/races I would like to try. When you only get to play twice a month you don't want to change the chars you play too often :)

Re: Books

Understandable.  Since the advent of 3E, the choices available make it quite difficult to decide in some aspects so I find myself contemplating far longer what path I see the character taking and what I would like to try.

Oddly, I have never played a Bladesinger and have just started considering it for our next live campaign once the current one is done.

I think that as long as she doesn't.....vanish, she would be fine with you playing her as an NPC.

Re: Back to Game

When a player or GM disappears, it always makes it difficult as there are quite a few things that could be happening.

She may have lost interest in the game for various reasons.
She may have lost computer access.
She may be in the hospital or she may even be dead.

Whatever the reason she clearly has not been on in a month.  About the only thing you might be able to do is put a thread in another forum inquiring after the character's player and see if someone else here knows what is going on.

Right now, I have three games that seem to be dead in the water because their GM's have either disappeared or lost interest in running the games once they realized how much work and responsibility it was.

It is a hard call to make for a GM and one that is never a favorite to do but eventually for the sake of the game, a forced move will be required so that the game can carry on.  After all, the show must go on.  :)

When this happens to me and it has become pretty clear that the player is at least away for an extended period of time I try to work in a means to remove the character in such a manner that the player can resume with the character if he or she returns.
