Re: Pre-game

I built a controller Druid, sub AoE (like most controllers). He can't heal. He can only prevent you from getting hurt.

Sorcerer, primarily intended to deal damage, particularly of the burny fiery variety.

Link for the roll20 campaign:  ← If there is no link here, please log in.

You'll need to create a free account, if you don't already have one. When you first arrive, you will only see black. This is because you can't see anything until IĀ attach your account to your character, which I can't do until you've logged in once.

Re: Table Talk

I changed the title of the thread to make it more relevant moving forward. We don't need a bunch of OOC threads, one will do.

Re: Table Talk

I'm a druid who will eventually have the ability to turn into animals, either for combat or reconnaissance. I'm also the party's primary healer.

Re: Table Talk

Marvellous. You all have control of your characters on roll20. We won't always necessarily use a map for combat (especially short ones), so I'll let you know when there's a map for combat or other situations. You can move yourselves as well as see what your character should be able to see.

Re: Table Talk

BTW, it is not necessary to language tag River-tongue. We'll just assume that if you say something aloud, it's River-tongue unless you tag it. Everybody does speak it.

Re: Table Talk

To be clear, don't use the checkbox that says Private to DM. Instead, use the Insert a private line: dropdown and put the entire contents of your post in it.

The checkbox turns the reply into a private message to me. The other one will create a message that looks empty to everybody but me.

The message box will throw an error if the full message is private to the GM. Include a small bit of text for public perusal, as well.

Re: Table Talk

FYI, only Westra can actually heal with healing kits, and it's limited to one heal per short rest. If the party takes a short rest, however, everybody can heal up by spending hit dice. Your hit dice refresh every long rest and you can heal with them every short rest.

Re: Table Talk

IĀ believe the party has enough XP to hit level 3 now. Go ahead and level your chars.

Re: Table Talk

Reminder, since your char's would know this. Excerpt from the setting guide:

quote:
The social contract of the Wanderer, which not every clan respects, is that Wanderers can expect food and lodging from a clan, but they must act according to that clan’s interests while they are there. Since Wanderers are often more capable warriors and sometimes even magic users, this means clans may ask them to participate in hunts or even go take out dangerous creatures that threaten the community. A Wanderer can typically decline a request by simply moving on.

Your chars wouldn't think that you're being asked to settle down, merely to act as though you were members during your time there.

Re: Table Talk

Signs I've been playing D&D too long: I see signs of a wolf, a bear, and some squirrels that are acting funny, and I'm most concerned by far by the squirrels.

Re: Table Talk

I don't know, I've only been playing for a month and I'm just as concerned. I'm just unsure how we're going to address them, figure we can get a bear while we wait.

I know exactly how to address them, and any other unusual animals/NPCs, but I can't do it until level 5 :-(

Happy to inspire, especially for something as metal as a flaming bear.

Re: Table Talk

Let's not encourage Chris on the subject of flaming bears. Might induce PTSD from previous PBP campaign for Joe and me. Speaking of previous campaign PTSD, NO TINTINNABULATION!

Uh oh. While I hate to stir up PTSD, I feel like I ask what tintinnabulations have historically indicated.

Re: Table Talk

The players once confronted an entity that could be identified by the tinkling sound of bells as it passed by. It was a horrifying creature that would suck out your insides and use your body like a puppet to lure friends to their doom. It is unkillable, as far as anyone knows, and this is “unkillable” to a series of adventurers that has disposed of, resurrected, and reassembled large portions of the pantheon to better suit their interests. It is the author of a series of population-destroying parasitic plagues, many of which result in catastrophic sudden cranial explosion. It starts wars on a semi-regular basis, either on accident or on purpose, it's hard to tell. And perhaps worst of all, nobody can pronounce it's name: Uluu Thalongh.

As for the flammiferous ursid, it may yet make an appearance in Ir. It would be an excellent inhabitant for this setting, though encounters at this level would end very poorly for the players involved.

Not that that stopped him before, mind. He neglected to mention that it was stealthy, invisible, intelligent, and completely immune to magic. We never reached a high enough level for encounters not to end some level of poorly.

Re: Table Talk

Well, in that campaign, it wouldn't have been so bad if the entire party weren't devoted to magic. I seem to recall a certain telepath that wasn't all that useful against things that didn't blow up or succumb to mind control.
