Re: Table Talk

Is that directed toward PTSD, or the plot trap into which Westra and I seem to be leading the party?

Re: Table Talk

PTSD, I suspect. Your characters currently have no actual knowledge that this bear bears a striking resemblance to a bear the other PbP campaign had to bear.

Re: Table Talk

These puns are bearly tolerable. This could get grizzly, and leave the party quite polarized. Someone's pants are likely to turn brown.

Re: Table Talk

I don't see why the DM won't just panda to our needs by providing a mob we can all fight. Must have a black heart indeed.

Re: Table Talk

Perhaps we could write up some kind of contract and include a "no flamestone bears" claws.

Re: Table Talk

I accidentally clicked on Chris's image in-game, turned around to do some stuff, then turned back to see Youtube playing Ylvis. I was fortunate that mute was on.

Re: Table Talk

Wow, didn't even notice it was a link. Also, the polygon tool has some kinks to work out, like the part where it totally lies about Ctrl+Z doing anything. Also also, it's really hard to trace gray gridlines on gray terrain.

Re: Table Talk

You're welcome! I'd stay to help you climb out, but 1) Str dump stat, 2) thing that laid trap is likely to bullrush any aides into the pit along with you.

I'll be out for a wedding (wife's sister), so my posting will be sporadic, if at all, until Monday. Happy 4th!

Re: Table Talk

I am just now revisiting this board after running from this bear for over a month. While I feel like I did have a healthy fear of the bear before, my appreciation and fear seems to have increased after reading statements like:
quote:
As for the flammiferous ursid, it may yet make an appearance in Ir. It would be an excellent inhabitant for this setting, though encounters at this level would end very poorly for the players involved.

Also like:
quote:
He neglected to mention that it was stealthy, invisible, intelligent, and completely immune to magic. We never reached a high enough level for encounters not to end some level of poorly.

In short, should I start rolling a new character now, or wait for the battle to end sometime in the next week or two?

Re: Table Talk

I am surprised that nobody remembered that it breathes poison gas, too. (No, not actually surprised.) BTW, 5e totally does have ability damage, it just uses it less frequently. The mobs handle it inline, along with what it takes to cure it. Greater Restoration, for example, removes those penalties.

Re: Table Talk

Since it's not in the glossary, here is the definition for “slowed”...

Slowed: Your speed is halved, you have -2 to AC and Dex saves, and you can't use reactions.

Re: Table Talk

The nice thing about being completely ineffective in a combat is that if you try something stupid and it doesn't work, you've hardly lost anything!

Re: Table Talk

As opposed to being completely ineffective at diplomacy in the case of Ethic. Though in his defense he is still pursuing diplomacy, just by a different means.

Re: Table Talk

Kind of hard to move the story along when Westra and Aldridge hate each other, but they seem to be the only ones talking. Just sayin'. We should do a poll. Whose character wants to punch Aldridge in his face? Say aye.

Re: Table Talk

While I vote against punching Aldridge in the face, he is willing to part with the party due to split differences, if they decide they want nothing to do with him. Votes for the party to go south and send him on his separate route?

Re: Table Talk

On this map, the light scattered stones (like what the party is currently standing on) are difficult terrain. The dark flat stones (you can see them just north of some light stones on the map) must be climbed. The giant stones on the map are big columns in the cave. You can't go over them, although some of them might be climbed if you had reason and were particularly athletic.
