ITSDA Prison - Remote, Impregnable Fortress (Location 9)
The ITSDA's prisoners trice-weekly "social hour" was just beginning. It took place in a simple meeting room that sported agonizingly bright fluorescent lighting, a large table, a full compliment of Gifted guards, unthinkably dense carbon-fiber walls, and thick windows made of transparent aluminum. Ash, Zenith, and Spurt all sat near each other.
"And they cripple us; they took everything...My freedom, my Gifts," Spurt shook with rage as he stared at his hand, desperately gripping and flexing it in a hopeless attempt to force it to explode into the monstrous appendage he knew it could be.
"We know, okay?! We know! You don't have to remind us; they took my Gift away, too," shouted Ash. He scanned the room quickly, making sure that no guards were focusing on him, and waggled all of his fingers as he leaned in to whisper. "But not forever, see? Zeni says Dieter's crew gots a plan."
Spurt shot up, sliding his chair a couple of feet back, and gritted his teeth. Zenith eyed the guards as they turned to face Mr. Tsing's outburst.
"Don't toy with me," said Spurt. "False hope won't rid us of these parasites!"
"I've no intention of filling your mind with lies, Daniel. I simply suggest we speak with him and the others. The expanded minds of the men and women locked in this facility all yearn to be free. And, as they say, two heads are better than one," Zenith leaned back in his chair as he spoke, blowing his breath up into the air before flashing Daniel a twisted, little smile.
"Yeah, yeah...so who's our first partner?"
"Well that's an easy one, dear fellow; every great enterprise needs some muscle..." Ash held his hands out and sarcastically presented Spurt to his boss. "No, no, my friend. We need Kane. Where is he?"
Ash shrugged and mumbled "I don't know." Spurt growled under his breath.
