I think I'd be interested myself after considering for a few weeks on the possibility, if you're willing to take me. I know I haven't exactly shown the greatest degree of consistency and creativity when it comes to posting so I understand if you'd rather keep me out of it.

In reply to Black Magic (msg # 12):

I'd be interested in transplanting Brianna over to your game, but I do have some questions. Primarily, how much of a fresh start will this be? Will the canon of Gift of Power and each character's experience be writ as backstory in the new game point-for-point? Or will there be some flexibility in re-establishing some of these characters, their Gifts, and the story?

It can be as much of a fresh start as you like, all the way down to the bare bones of your character(s) and built back up again in even a different form if you like. Or the exact opposite is true, and you may keep them exactly as they are here. From my point of view your characters are your rightful property, to be remade, edited, or transplanted as you see fit.

I'm still here, and waiting with baited breath.

I guess now's a good time for a role-call, to see who's keeping an eye on this game.

It's alright, actually. Working from home has been pretty busy, and I got a VR headset- so I don't miss the outside world.

It's given me a chance to binge the Mandalorian as well. Pretty great.

I think we should have a pandemic every year. It's been pretty chill so far.

A lot has been explained in my life.

Meh, university was a pain but it was good. Of course, university was like a decade ago for me? Well, two decades if you want to count my freshman year of Uni.

At least I ain't got COVID to worry about over here! Ha!

Been rereading some of the threads here the last couple days. Man, I miss the writing this game generated.

I've been okay. In the tail end of my Undergraduate now, so I'm hopefully a bit wiser. I've been thinking about these old games, and trying to revive another one.

Also, Lockdown is killing me, but at least I'm not sick.

Same, this game had some good times. It was getting a little dense plot-wise towards the end, but I loved the characters. All of them.

I'd be up for a reboot, if that's ever on the table.

I've been real busy over the lockdown with a new job, but I still can't wait until they let us outside again.

Without Scripts, I am unsure how much of the original plot exists. Perhaps Black Magic was in on it a bit?

However, I'd be up for a light reboot where Schwarze Augen is the main antagonist. Not sure how we'd manage the backstory... but that could be fun.

Half the problem, in the end, to my thoughts, was all the secondary stuff and dead characters cluttering things. If we could boil it down to the core characters/writers and a centralized plot. Could be a hoot.

I recall the plot being mainly character-driven. Everyone kind of bouncing off of one another, acting and reacting as made sense for their character. I loved that part of it, to be frank.

Oh no, Scripts had a plot at the beginning. It got lost. Something about Numidias being behind all this for a reason.

OH Namidias! I forgot he was an actual person. I always though of him as an explanation for how all these villains got their money and henchmen and the like. Kind of a Kane way of thinking, really.

Still, I'd love to give Kane a dusting off and some chaos to cause.

It might just be because I joined late, but hell, I could barely figure out what was going on...it helped me stay in-character, admittedly.

Also, call me a stooge, but I am starting up an old Yugioh rp called The Call of the Duel that was always made better by well-written characters. If piecing together a plot for this is going to take a while and anybody wants some light rp to write in to help shake off the dust, I'd be happy to have you.

I don't know that much about yugioh unfortunately, besides a bit of the abridged series. So I probably won't be able to contribute to that. @Brianna

Part of what I liked about this game was the option to have multiple villains to play as/against. 'Namidias' was the over-arching threat of the game, but I think that was just a mechanism for Scripts to stir the pot if things weren't moving. The best parts of the game IMO were always what the players came up with, and we had some great independent stories based on those interactions.

In a reboot, I think we could re-analyze the system. Judging the outcome of a fight based off writing quality is a good idea on paper, but the 'battles' ended up being quite long towards the end. Also, the stories that ended up being 'canon' often ended up having to use various plot points blended together from different stories, and have the gaps filled in by the GM writing OC, which I didn't really love.

Maybe in V2 a word limit and a hidden voting system might be the way to go.

Not a problem either way, Commander.

I think a word limit is definitely a worthwhile improvement; battle-posts being longer than a graduate thesis paper was one of the things that hobbled me as a relatively new player. It could also just be that Gaultown was a nightmare when I joined, and in all of those battle posts, I just wanted to make sure no Namidian offhandedly killed Brianna.

In that same vein, it's worthwhile to consider a TLDR after-action report at the end of each battle-post to go over the salient points; who died, who escaped, who's injured/captured, etc. I've seen a lot of the canon posts do this, but making it official for the non-canon ones as well might go a long way to getting these things better organized.

I am sorry I failed to notice this sooner, yet I was unaware of any plot Scripts had; in truth it seemed they were very fluid, when I would try to hold something they had in place against attempts to change it they would thank me and say to let the players contribute.

I have no ideas how you saw me as a GM or player in the game, yet know that if you do want to restructure it I will do all I can to help you.

Stay safe out there, one and all.
