Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Breaking her stealth Fiona comes from the shadows to appear behind the priest her blade leading. Through it slips in she is unsure if it managed to do actual damage to the undead, though if it fell into a pile that would be clear enough.

I am not sure if a 12 hits so did not embelish on it,...   ;)
10:38, Today: Fiona Quickseed rolled 12,11,11 using 1d20+6,1d8+3,3d6 with rolls of 6,8,6,3,2. Rapier + Sneak.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Korben calls out to Ulaa for her blessing and then moves closer to engage the enemy before too long...

Move closer and then cast Bless. Targets: Carrog, Tara and Fiona. Whenever a target makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw.

TARA, CARROG AND FIONA: Remember you have Bless active.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
With the cast of the fireball, Anton was left depleted, magically speaking. Though he was happy with the result, he noticed that the fiery blast had not destroyed any of their current foes.

His companions made quick work of the priests, however, as arrow and javelin flew through the air to hit their targets.

Anton's eyes, then, moved to Carrog and the two undead warriors that attacked him. Taking careful aim so as not to hit Carrog, Anton fired two blasts of energy at the undead warrior that was not targeted by Fiona. Both blasts struck true, hitting it with the force of a warhammer swung by a barbarian.

Anton cast Eldritch Blast; Attack 1: 18 vs AC for 10 damage; Attack 2: 19 vs AC for 12 damage.
16:35, Today: Anton Stren rolled 18,10,19,12 using 1d20+7,1d10+4,1d20+7,1d10+4 with rolls of 11,6,12,8.  Eldritch Blast x 2 vs Undead Warrior.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Crag again fell into a rage, hewing about him with Zalco and only barely maintaining the presence of mind to keep his shield arm up, more a testament to muscle memory than choice.

Bonus to rage, Attack x2

First attack: Carrog Shieldsplitter rolled 12,3 using 1d20+10,1d4 ((2,3)).
if that's enough to hit - Carrog Shieldsplitter rolled 12 using 1d8+9 ((3)).

Second attack: Carrog Shieldsplitter rolled 29,3 using 1d20+10,1d4 ((19,3)).
so close to a crit.
damage - Carrog Shieldsplitter rolled 10 using 1d8+9 ((1)).

Seeing the damage done by Fiona and Tara, Fargrim shifts his targets to the two warriors in front, sending two arrows at the one on his left, and a third at the dwarf zombie to his right.

08:55, Today: Fargrim Frostbeard rolled 11,6 using 1d20+8,1d8+3 with rolls of 3,3.  5th level bonus arrow.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Tara's javelins rip through the priest and it collapses in a pile of bones.

Fiona's attack nearly rips one of the warriors apart and then it is finished off by one of Fargrim's arrows.

Anton's magical attack causes significant damage to the last warrior, followed by Carrog beheading the creature!

There is now silence other than the puffing of your companions after running into battle.

Now that the threat of a second summoned devil is passed, you look around the room. The bunks against the walls fall apart when touched - the wood has dessicated over the years. The small chests next to each one are in a similarly poor condition, but each does contain a small pouch with a few gold coins in it.

The passage to the north is a staircase, most likely leading up to the room you left earlier. All the dwarves in the party are certain that it leads where you have previously been.

The other passage to the west continues downwards for further than you can see. There is a small point of light at the end which is likely another room lit by a continual light spell. Standing at the mouth of the tunnel you hear a constant thumping sound. It's reasonably regular but it sounds like there is more than one source.

The gold coins total 285 gp.

Perception checks to identify the sounds.

Hearing the thumping sound coming from the next room, Anton cocks his head to one side, attempting to discern more about what he is hearing.

The noise draws her attention, to which Fiona again dons her hood to get a better listen. Moving to the opening she steps in only a few steps.

09:24, Today: Fiona Quickseed rolled 22 using 1d20+6 with rolls of 16. Perception.

Crag's ears strain, and he moves opposite Fiona, never quite so silent, but still wih the skill of one used to stalking through caves on quiet feet.

Carrog Shieldsplitter rolled 15 using 1d20+3 with rolls of 12.  perception.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Fiona realizes that the sound is picks hitting stone. There's at least three of them and they are quite far away - further than the next chamber. Someone is mining in the tunnels.

Korben chuckles. "Probably more undead. I ken this place ha' a problem with 'em. Well, Carrog, lead the way--let's go greet them the way we did the others, eh? Into the tunnels!"

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Anton was feeling a might depleted, magically speaking and held a hand up before they all went gallivanting into the next possibly undead-infested room.

"Not that I'm not enjoying this constant series of forays into the depths, or that I'm at all trying to delay the inevitable, but I need to rest a bit. I fear I'm in no shape to summon another ball of fire at the moment." he says before looking over at Fiona.

"Perhaps you could scout ahead and determine numbers and the like? I'd like to mitigate the threat of any other demon summonings if possible, and knowing who and where to attack could be a boon."

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
"That would be me then. I can go have a quick look about. Be right back."
With a wink and a smile she dons the hood of her cloak then melts into the shadows, silent as the same.
Fiona goes off in search of the sound as well as to see what else lies ahead.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Before they are leaving the fighting scene, Tara collects her javelins. It is not so unlikely that she will have to put them to use again, although she prefers to fight in melee with her longsword.

When Fiona vanishes to have a quick look about the mining sounds, Tara looks a bit worried. Should Fiona get into a dangerous situation and should she need their immediate help, Anton wouldn't be fit. We should have rested first before doing any scouting, she thinks to herself, but doesn't say anything in order not to unsettle anyone.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Fiona walks ahead of the others in the darkness.

She reaches another circular chamber that is illuminated by a continual light spell. Arranged about the walls are twelve decrepit wooden beds. There are no signs of movement.

Investigating further she finds that the beds crumble when touched. At the foot of each bed is an unlocked wooden locker, seven of which contain treasure: 20, 37, 41, 8, 23, 89, and 39 gp respectively.

A passageway to the south beckons, and she keeps going. The noise is much louder down here. Walking as quietly as she can, Fiona stops about 100 feet from the entrance to another room that is illuminated the same way. She can make out several figures moving against the south west wall. There's at least three, possibly more to the east where she cannot see.

Map is updated.

Fiona has been gone for about 10 minutes.

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
'Not' looking to engage at all at this time Fiona figures she has been gone long enough and it is time to report her findings. Leaving the gold in place, trying not to disturb the area any more than she had Fiona departs.
Stepping from the shadows as she left she makes her reappearance.
"The were bunks for a dozen or so and at least three active figures on one side of the room with more opposite. I could not get a good accounting without taking risks in the light."

Re: Chapter 2 - Into the depths
Anton still looks a bit mentally frazzled.

"I can still cast some basic spells, but fireballs would be too much for me right now. It takes me about an hour to replenish enough magical energy to cast my more powerful spells. If you want to continue, we can, but I would prefer to be a full strength if we are to continue facing those demon summoning priests." he says to the group, blowing out a breath of air and steeling himself against the upcoming chaos that is bound to ensue once they enter the new set of rooms that Fiona found.

Korben holds up his hands. "Sorry, Anton, yer right. Let's rest up a bit to give ye a bit o' breath, and then we can head down."

He leans against a wall in the room, ready to stand watch as the group takes a rest.
