The Keep- Helen and Elizabeth's room

A smallish room near the set of stairs. There are two beds and a trunk inside.

"That's what we are here for," he said softly as he opened the door. Soon the village will be as it was, if not better."

"I dearly hope so," Helen replied. She walked into the room and turned to face Xavier. "I'll see you later," she said, smiling.

He bowed slightly. "Until later. If you have need of me before, just send any of the knights to find me.  Meals aren't at any specific times, by the way, Mrs/ Gerthrim and Mrs. Spenser are there from dawn until nearly midnight." He lightly touched Elizabeth's nose playfully before taking his leave.

Helen closed the door behind her and looked around the room. She saw 2 beds and a trunk along the back wall. Simple, but satisfactory, she thought.

After tucking Elizabeth in for a nap in one of the beds, she went to the trunk and removed her satchel. She placed it in the trunk and closed the lid. "There, now that's safe," she said to herself. She climbed into the bed with Elizabeth and dozed off for a nap.

Helen abruptly woke a little while later to screams down the hall. "What on earth is going on?" she cried. Making sure that Elizabeth was still asleep, Helen quickly opened the door to her room and raced down the hall to the kitchen to see if anyone could tell her what was going on.

The Keep- Helen and Elizabeth's room

<---From Main Hall

Helen walked back into her room and went over to the bed. To her relief, Elizabeth was still sleeping soundly among the blankets. She tucked the covers over her again, then kissed her on the cheek and walked away from the bed.

Going over to the trunk, Helen opened the lid and removed the satchel. Opening it, she pulled out various scrolls, bottles, and herbs. She planned to make herself useful while she was here at the Keep, and this was a good way to start.

Organizing everything into piles on the floor, Helen opened up one of the scrolls and read its title. "Basic Healing Potion: Cure Minor Illness and Injury." This will probably be a good starting place, she thought. Gathering her various herbs, she realized that she needed some blue daisies to complete it. She set down her things and headed out the door towards the garden.

The Keep- Helen and Elizabeth's room

Elizabeth woke up, and finding her mother gone, climbed out of bed and began to look for her. "Mama? Mama?" she said as she walked about the room. "Mama! MAMA!" She screamed in terror and slammed her tiny fists against the door, trying to get it open.

In her fit, though, she accidentally stepped on one of her mother's bottles, and a strange fragrance was beginning to fill the room. Oblivious to the damage, Elizabeth continued crying at the door.

Elizabeth was still crying, but she was now beginning to cough. Not little coughs, but heaving, dry, hacking coughs that threatened to send her lunch shooting right out of her. In agony, she pounded on the doors again, hoping that Helen would open the doorknob which she couldn't reach and help her feel better.

The fragrance was completely enveloping the room by this time, and it made a sort of greenish fog. The liquid contents of the bottle began to disappear into gases, and the fog was escaping the room through every crack it could.

Ertzel saw the fog escaping and she tried opening the door. Thankfully it wasn't locked. She covered her mouth with one arm as it opened. She spotted the little girl and reached for her hand. "Come on," she said against her arm.

Elizabeth looked up as the door opened. But instead of seeing her mother, as she had expected, she saw a horrible spider-like monster! Screaming in terror, she ran to the corner of the room and huddled in a ball, still coughing violently.

The fog spilled out of the door and slowly spread throughout the keep. It got less potent as it went, but it still gave hacking fits and strange visions to everyone it touched.

Ertzel succumbed to a coughing fit. She started going in for the girl, but as the fog took over her mind, the girl changed into a large horrifying bear about to attack. Ertzel screamed hoarsely and ran.
