Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

The party walks through the zigzagging corridor and out the stone door at the end of the entry hall.  The sounds of screams and torture still fill the area but are less than before as they spill out into the fortress.  They look about but decide to enter through the first stone door on their left as they come in.

A stone fountain stands in the middle of a grand plaza, its sides sculpted into the shapes of dwarves bearing drums and horns. Near the fountain, several figures in feathered attire play a shrill, discordant tune on flutes made of bone.

A bit surprised by the sight the party approaches their weapons still left in their scabbards. Upon their approach a half moon elf looks up at them and all of the music stops. "Oh good, replacements I hope. These Musicians are just plain awful, care to tryout and join the troupe?" the other musicians he is referring to look like some of the initiates back in the tower and they pass the party and the half moon elf a look of fear and acknowledgement.

Og just glares at the man. "No I lack any musical talent unfortunately."

Akraliph shakes her head. "I much prefer to listen to the talent of good musicians rather than participate in the activity. Good luck with your search for better talent." She smiles hiding her disgust for these elemental worshippers.

Yarabon steps in front of Og and looks the half moon elf in the eyes and reaches out her gruff grizzled hand. "Names Yarabon" Yarabon says with a straight look on her face. "Windharrow" the man responds

"You should get a new band, this one is pretty bad." Yarabon says bluntly

Windharrow snorts in derision "Im well aware, now unless you're going to pick up an instrument please leave us to practice.'

Not having accomplished anything but also avoiding any form of violence the party exits the room with a varied plethora of goodbye greetings then they proceed to the stone door they came in through a bit confused but prepared for what next they must face as they exit the room.

Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

The party heads east skips over a hallway that heads north and approaches two separate doors one directly in front of them and one to the north followed by a hallway between the two.  They enter the northern door and see

Two massive stone pillars thread holes in the floor and ceiling of this vast chamber. Stone crossbeams pierce the pillars to form spokes, creating giant wheels. Two robed figures whip five sorry-looking humans into pushing against the crossbeams of the westernmost wheel with all their might. As the wheel turns slowly counterclockwise, you hear the grinding of enormous gears hidden deep below the stone floor.

One of the robed figures with a whip looks at the party as they enter the room and says. "What are you doing here!?" as he pulls a scimitar from a holster at his side along with his partner.

"Putting a stop to this madness!" Og says loudly.  Yarabon roars a battle cry, Taten pulls out his glaive ever keeping an eye out for any valuables he can find and Akraliph says a prayer to Ilmater as her eyes go black and she sears her own flesh with her eldritch magic. "Oh Broken God allow me to bear the burden of these creatures sins and send them to your eternal plane of martrydom to learn of your teachings away from this elemental filth." Akraliph says with loud emphasis.

One of the robed figures shouts to the men pushing the wheel "Prove your worth to us, fight to the death and slay these outsiders!"

Each of the men and women on the wheel grab clubs and turn ready to enter a brutal melee.

Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

In the midst of the battle the party manages to get three women to back down and not risk their lives while the others along with the whip wielding cultists were killed in battle.  The party then ties them up and drags them out towards where their hippogriffs are when they reach the entrance tunnel and the screaming continues followed by a series of arrow shots flying out of little arrow slits in the walls.  Through the slits look like black bird faced creatures and inside they loudly can tell these creatures are the ones making sounds like a man being tortured.

The party has to choose quickly which way to go to try and find these Kenku and they get lucky and pick the back door to reach them and kill them all but not before 2 out of the 3 women they had saved previously were murdered by arrows of the Kenku that ambushed them.

The party gathers outside for a breather before heading back inside.

Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

After catching their breath the party heads east down the hall and opens another stone door skipping past one of them next to the room with the wheels

These buildings are more or less intact, although the furnishings and decorations have long since been removed. Shards of rubble, broken pottery, and bits of bone litter the floor.

they search this room but find nothing of note inside.

They then check another room they passed over back down the hall to the west and again find very little but furnishing and decorations.  This appears to be homes to the cultists they fought previously.

Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

Though the fight with the air mages is hard and they are battered by the wind and the smell of burning flesh and burnt gear from lightning bolts fills the air everyone survived and they take another short breather and pass around healing magic.  They then exit the apartment and head further east where the path splits off south to a wide hallway and around another building to the north.  They decide to loop around north and find a room where

Cracked flagstones of ultramarine marble pave this plaza. An avenue to the east ends at a wall of fallen masonry and stone. To the west, a pillared colannade stretches across a moat to a step pyramid.

Residing in the this plaza toiling away at cleaning up the room is an air djinn who turns towards the approaching party and as he does he says "Yes what is it you want from Ahtayir this ti...?" he pauses mid sentence. "You....are you lot in league with Aerisi?"

as he finishes his sentence and the party enters the room they can hear voices approaching and the beating of wings from a connecting hallway to the west.

Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

As they move farther into the room and look down the hall to the west they see This stone colonnade spans the moat surrounding the step pyramid. Stone pillars line the way like enormous trees, engraved with the names and likenesses of notable dwarves of the past. Broken pieces of wood and stone litter the floor.

The colonnade ends at a walkway enclosing a step pyramid to the west. Perched atop the pyramid is a large draconic creature with a humanoid rider. The rider wears a feathered cloak.

Seeing the party the draconic creature takes to flight and lands with a loud crash near the party.

Yarabon pulls her axe and snarls ready for the oncoming draconic creature and mage of the air cultist.  Taten feels unsure as he looks back at the Djinn and Og then back at the obvious threat to the west.  Akraliph just has the djinn in view a ball of eldritch magic curling between her fingers.

Og responds to the Djinn "No were not even sure who Aerisi is." He then points towards the draconic creature and the approaching cultist. "I think that's further proof were not with these fools."

The djinn continues to work at carving the boulder as he speaks. "I cannot aid you in this fight, but if you meet Aerisi and you destroy the horn in her possession I will gladly reward you for your aid."

Ogs face shows clear concern and disbelief at the truth of the djinn. "Why would I destroy this horn? What does it do and how can you be trusted?"

The djinn looks at Og with a smile. "Well I haven't decided to aid in attempting to kill you but otherwise I have no proof i'm friendly.  The horn entraps me to her will, break the horn and I will reward you for my freedom."

Og pulls out Lightbringer and starts facing the oncoming battle as he has one last comment. "We will do the best we can, but I cannot make promises to you Ahtayir"

"Very well, I will take what help I can get for my freedom" the djinn says continuing to chistle away

Enter the Temple of Howling Hatred

After a long hard battle with the wyvern and it's rider the party heavily wounded decide to return to Red Larch upon their Hippogriffs with plans to come back shortly after they recover from their wounds. Their trip is uneventful though it takes a bit of explaining and coaxing the guards when they arrive on hippogriffs they are eventually allowed into the town without an issue. They first head to the town guard where they turn in the surviving woman from the cult who they helped escape but must still answer for her crimes. Harburk Tuthmarillar thanks the party for their hard work and they go their separate ways.

It is not long after they arrive in town that a messenger arrives with a letter for Og.

The note is brief but it is from Maegla the clothier and secretly another member of the Lord's Alliance.  It says "Og, I have been tasked with watching over the Bargewright inn 24 miles down the Cairn Road to the south east. Nalaskur Thaelond its owner is gone on business but I have taken over more than I can chew.  Please come see me when you arrive, I could use someone I can trust to handle the situation.

- Maegla
"

The letter is finished with a stamp of the Lord's Alliance logo.

"We should go learn what ails Maegla, and hopefully gets a nights shut eye." Og says to his companions.  Though Taten gives an irritated look, Yarabon and Akraliph seem game so the majority wins out and they hop back on their hippogriffs and head towards the Bargewright inn.
