Re: [OOC] The Tavern

Okay, thank I will check it out.  I really was just trying to have something to say to someone before heading to the boat as opposed to just letting the GM bring us there.

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

It's all good, to be honest I don't mind a little banter like that between our PCs. It let's me build/establish how Kalia's personality and mannerisms will be. :)

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

I always appreciate banter. To me its real boring and kills the immersion / mood when nobody interacts with each other. As the two of you have probably noticed, the post where you interacted with me opened up a can of worms.

Tali Zorrah: What was that?
Wrex: Don't worry little Quarian. I will protect you.

I'm leaving her out so you guys can talk. I'll leave that thread open so you can finish up but I'll kick off the big return.

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

If she is far enough away Xao will bring out the map so that we can all see and commit what we can to memory. But if she's within range of flitting back I'll keep it pocketed for the time being.

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

So as part of the return trip you'll once again have one last chance to use the downtime to get to know one of the crew. You can decide if you want to try and befriend them or undermine them in some way. Studying the map is also an opportunity but one that will take the place of getting closer to an NPC. It is hard to find private time on a ship in order to look at it safely without someone else finding it and most of the time is spent working out situations where you can have a bit of privacy in the first place.

I dont remember who all I had talked too except Fatty Ass, Rosie, and Ratline. There was one other neutral girl, trying to keep her head down, but I can't remember which she was, or that you even gave me a response about her.

Any chance we leveled up yet?

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

To the other players: What are we thinking? I don't want to do something reckless and just grab the first mate and throw him overboard, right now, while it shouldn't be terribly difficult to do.

On the other hand I am absolutely abysmal at rolling over and getting punked by weasels and shitheads. That dude needs to die. And soon. And he needs to look like a complete bitch when it happens. He ain't no Little Finger. He doesn't get to survive to the last season. :P

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

Honestly (and it's not a criticism of the DM so don't take it there) I don't think we have much choice unless we're all prepared to say screw it and risk a TPK / Game over. We're level 1. Level bitch. We were getting our asses kicked by insects and a single shaman even though it was like 6 on 1.

My play style is "Awesome." What I mean is, I'm the power gamer. I don't do well not being able to crush my opposition. I don't like, fail, fail, fail, try again, fail, DM finally feels sorry for me so I get a Rocky montage, Yay look at me I finally overcame extraordinary odds. We are the champions. Roll credits. That is a stupidly boring trope to me that also takes foooorever to accomplish on a play by post game. Some people like it! I was just talking to one of my players yesterday (@Pearl: Jasmine). He actually likes the Zero to Hero trope.

That is okay!

But to put it into context for me... I never was that kid. I wasn't bullied. I wasn't socially awkward. I didn't have trouble finding girlfriends. I didn't suck at anything I put my mind to, and I had the mentality that if somebody was better, I got out of their way. I don't relate to that type of character, so it isn't enjoyable.

The second half of it is that it's all I ever get stuck playing, too. So I'm sick to death of it. I hate being challenged by things that suck. For Goblins to challenge me, I have to be playing a scrubby character. Even our cool DM made a joke about this being a candy land challenge or something. Well, in a way, yes actually! But context is king. If I'm to be challenged I want to deal with something meant to be a challenge - a squad of Illithids where 1 is a psychic warrior, 3 are assassins, and 2 more are War Priests that had time to prepare! Or a pair of Death Knights backed by a Necromancer with a Skeleton Warrior bodyguard and 10 Wraiths making the front line. Now we're talking! Now we're cooking with peanut oil! The best part is that even if I'm playing a jacked to the gills Conan the Barbarian character with sweet, sweet gear, it's still an, "Oh shit. I might actually get my ass kicked..." moment IC as well as OOC.

Which comes around to the 3rd aspect of my style. I'm a narrator and actor. I like a lot of interaction and banter. I like strong drscriptions. I like a cinematic view of things. Because I spend 98.8476% of my time being a DM, I couldn't care less about spoilers. Give me the script. You want me to do something? Act a certain way? Treat a specific NPC like they're royalty? Let me know! As a pro wrestler, part of my job was doing the job!  I'm not the enemy. I'm in it for the story. As the DM you've got this story. You've cast me a role. Direct me!

/rant

Zug Zug's goals are simple. 1. Keep talking like he's an idiot so everybody thinks he's dumb as a box of rocks and seriously underestimates him. 2. Occasionally be funny. 3. Kill the first mate in such an anti-climactic non struggle that it's actually epic. 4. Flay the current Captain and then keel hull him. Yeah. Salt water will make it really suck. 5. Attain an appropriate level so badassery isn't a bluff. Hoard lots of treasure. Finally go home. If along the way things happen to improve this list, sweet!

For now, I dunno. Unless we're all prepared to say screw it if we die we die its what happens when the options are be bitches or die, I'm at a loss. I think we're stuck getting screwed over and being punked, and it sucks worse than having to eat the rotten, moist, asshole of a roadkill rhino left out to rot in the sun for 3 days. :P

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

I think we need to get more of the neutrals on our side, and then start picking off the mutineers one by one. Mind you, I say that because my character is Chaotic Neutral, aspires to be a Free Captain herself, and despises treachery and thinks all those foolhardy b***hes should be fed to Drakar for dinner.

Re: [OOC] The Tavern

Blanket general statement. My real life has gotten very busy these past two weeks. Work stuff, some people were let go and I'm picking up their slack. I think it is dying down as this week looks pretty calm and in general until mid-July things should drop back to normal.

I am still here. I am still dedicated to play. My free time ebbs and flows and this is an ebb time. I will update when I can but try to have some patience with me this month.

Was that going to be before or after we resolve the treasure issue?

As I said to the DM when I joined up, I was thinking I'd eventually replace Rafe with a character of my own creation, and this does seem like a splendid opportunity for suicide. :p

To borrow a line from Kevin Costner's Charlie in Open Range... "There are some things that stick in a man's crawl worse than dyin'."

Though perhaps Tombstone's "You called down the Thunder?!? Well now you got it! Run! Run you cur, tell all your friends I'm comin! And Hells comin with me!"
