"Oh, come on, you need to try modern things. What is kosher?"

"Well essentially, pure and fit for human consumption according to our laws."

I can assure you that it is pure ... as to whether it is fit for Human consumption, that's a whole different question.

"Sure, it is legal on the ship, where you are, ask the Captain" and she glares at Cyril "You don't have any problem with it or me drinking it"

No, No... after you drink it you are very easy ... to get along with of course. As for me, I don't drink the stuff.

"So where's my bunk then, and what duties do you need me to carry out?"
"I'm rated as expert in camouflage, cartography, planetary navigation, surveying, earthlike geography, tracking, and rifles. Can also handle myself with basic biology, mainly specimen collection and preliminary processing."
"While on the New Tel-Aviv, my duties revolved mainly around the operation and maintenance of the communications array and computers, including external repairs, and as the medic for my damage control team. The room offered to Meir is one of the nicest on the vessel, suited to a captain.

Once Kat has finished her gin, both heran Cyril return to the bridge, where the rest of the crew are waiting. The Dastavka lifts off effortlessly into orbit and leaves the planet.

"Back to Aegir, then?"

Aye Tanya, Lay a course for Aegir.

The navigtion is fairly simple. Dastavka easily moves to a jump point Tanya designates, and Duke activates the jump drive to enter hyperspace. The stars seem to streak from view as he does so.

Kat pilots the ship up into space and moves to jump.

The vessels time in hyperspace seems a long time for Meir, as he spends a lot of time reading about new technology, and talking with Duke about how it works. The hyperspace bubble seems particularly weird to him.
