Back out to the unknown.

In reply to Raymond 'Duke' Vurhund (msg # 872):

Ok, Peter can camouflage the Dastavka, cutting down trees and putting them around it, then covering it with a light layer of snow to look like a small hill. To the casual observer, anyway.

Obviously Duke will be busy for quite some time. A number of folk are making recoveries, including Illiam, who is recovering the use of his arm at about the end of the second month.

Sterran similarly has a number of injuries, but he recovers remarkably faster. It would seem none of them were as serious.

Tanya and many of the rest of the crew are making good recoveries as well. As are many of the ex-slaves, who you find out are a mix of Vilani and Terran traders crews. Even some of the natives recover, though one does succumb to his injuries. The fact that many were saved at the farms does much to enhance relations, and as they learn the new technologies, there is a mix of fear and respect starting to show. Some of them can write better sentences and understand spoken sentences by the end of the two months, but they are unable to make the vocal sounds needed for speech, so Bill Gates is able to make small computers with translation software they can use quite well. He calls them Micro Software Computers and tries to sell them to the natives...

Umm, Bill, How much money do you have invested in this endeavor?

Once the defense is up, we start making DASTAVKA space ready; will we still need the Hero?

Duke, Could we add an additional reactor or two little ones to recover more of our performance? That may be limited by Passengers, we'll know more as we move along.

OOC- Duke; It Might also be a REAL good idea if Haveron Stormwahl logged in and posted on occasion ... or he may get a religious circumcision with a large broadsword.

In reply to Bill Gates (msg # 875):

Yes, except you are an employee working with things the company acquired on company time, so none of it is truly yours. That said, you have shown both initiative and inventiveness, which should be rewarded and acknowledged.  It does greatly assist our efforts, so we will give all but one of them to the natives. I will take the one we keep and give it to Mr. Kalishnikov with a recommendation and he will reward you appropriately, as he always has; It's how Duke has gotten where he is and the recognition he gets. I expect he could easily go into business for himself if he wished.

Duke grinned at the commentary Cyril had made. It was true that he could do make his own things, but he didn't really have the head for it. It was kind of boring, machines - and even computers to a degree - just kind of spoke to him and he felt most comfortable holding one in his arms. It made the man feel really connected to the world. Even as he considered his current situation with child, he felt far more at ease playing with tools than his own blood; it was a sore point that made him feel as if things came too difficult to him but there was still time to get used to it.

He mused the idea that Alexei and her own sister might have more of a mind for such things and grinned as he fantasised about the possibilities of their business acumen coupled with his own delicate touch. Quickly, though, his mind returned to the repetitive and soothing drum of metal on metal. Defintely not for him.

"I'll see what I can do Cap'n he said tersely.

OOC:

The thread in which haveron was playing seemed to die for a little while. But now that it's back on track, i'll be back and regular.

All spare working reactors have been used for planetary defences. You still have good performance, and can fire all guns, but the two reactors are just short of the original capacity. Additional reactors could rectify this..., if you had them.

Hmmm, that probably depends on whether Kat can resist carousing at some point during your stay...

Given Compulsive Carousing roll should usually be made daily, and you are there for at least a month (At the base with Dastavka, after you get Dastavka moved!) I am going to say that Cyril probably cant stop her, though he could slow her down...Kat, are there any special precautions you take to stop your new friends finding out about the Gin?

She will keep the gin on the ship and try not to let them get it as she is not sure how it would effect them and would not what them to get hurt by something poisonous to their systems.

Sorry, mobile answered.

Yes, you can take a sample to the Lab. Results should be back in 12 hours, after he has had some time to test it.

They will also pour Kat a cup as well and offer it to her. She still has to make the roll!
