Mapping the unknown

It is not futile, we are here because we fought the Imperium and established ourselves. We have expanded at their cost and learned to fight off their fleets. Proof is that we are here. The Imperium is vastly larger than the confederation, but not at all concerned or committed to attacking us, aided greatly by the Imperium having no great leader to unify their efforts.  The confederation has found many dissident worlds, happy to shake off Vilani rule and join the confederation, so we grow at their expense. Their various governors of space areas look to their own concerns and the confederation expands in small steps.
As for becoming a part of the record, it is too late, your existence was reported when we were chased out before, and has been communicated to our allies that you are potentially hostile. We returned to again attempt to establish relations and trade, as I have said.

off line
Gun Da Bin, carefully scan beyond this system toward Remulak for an unknown planet or Brown Star. Curious if they jumped here directly or came the long way around. Scan passively at first, then actively.

Kat can't believe they found the most period people in the galaxy. "How did they hear so much about the Vilani if they are so isolated?" she says off line.

In reply to Katherine 'Kat' Steele (msg # 253):

There is another pause before the next response.

"Then we are likely in trouble, sooner or later. We were hoping you did not get any information on us. A small number of Vilani refugees, clearly not sent by the Imperial Government, came here several centuries ago and warned us of the consequences of their government finding out about us. As such, what can we offer you to remove us from your records?"

[OOC: Long range scans will take days, though they can be initiated now. Results will not be any time soon.]

In reality, you likely can no longer hide. If we hide your existence, someone else will come here soon enough, and if they don't return, you can expect another ship or two looking for them, and if those don't return, a fleet will show up. It is time you accepted that you can't keep hiding. We have offered trade , friendship and aid, including a treaty if you wish. No one can guarantee your safety or survival, nor ours; But we stand and expect to be seen as not worth the troubles to conquer. Between us, the Labrysians, and several other races in this area, we expect to be a seriously powerful alliance. It is the best defense we know of.

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 255):

"If we cannot remain anonymous any longer, then we will need to learn of universe affairs. We do not wish to make enemies of you or anyone else. Why don't you land and we can discuss our options face to face. Your fleet can remain where they are if they prefer.

But honestly, we have seen the Vilani destroy very powerful alliances before. The Vegans had a practically impenetrable defence system, but the Vilani still destroyed their planet through sheer numbers.

We will be glad to meet. With you , we will follow you to a Landing site.

To the crew - We are going to land and speak with these folks; I would like a representation from all the different groups aboard, I think it will help them to understand how many have resisted the Vilani and make them a bit more comfortable with their decisions.

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 257):

The fighters break off into two groups, with one group accompanying each of the two of the capital ships. The third ship, which scanners suggest is the one that initially tried to greet you when you first arrived in this system, signals for you to follow it. The rest of your fleet hangs back and allows your to leave.

The trip across the system takes nearly a day, giving you plenty of time to organize a diplomatic party. Mnwa and Armstrong are the most obvious aliens since the last Labrysian left the vessel.

Mapping the unknown

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 259):

You follow them to the plant, a flight of many hours. As you approach the planet, a small moon orbiting a gas giant with a meticulous defence system surrounding the planet that is remarkably solid, consisting of small space stations equipped with beams and repulsion systems. Scans indicate at least 200 such bases surrounding the planet, most disguised as rocks or debris, but many have small system engines to permit them limited movement.

The planet itself is cool, with half the surface covered by water. The mountainous terrain near the landing site seems to very cleverly cover the city, which on approach seems very small but ground-penetrating radar indicates is actually quite large. It is almost like most of the population lives underground in bunkers, and beam emplacements decorate the perimeter of the city, and the highest points within. While the fighters move to hangers deep inside the mountains, you are directed to a much more exposed location on a plateau, where Kat easily lands the Dastavka.

After you touchdown and turn off the engines, a parade comes towards the vessel. Whilst armed, it appears in behavior more like an honour guard than a boarding party.

I would suggest more formal clothes than military armour, in accordance with Vilani traditions, which they seem at least vaguely familiar with, albeit the more ancient traditions."

Might be good to have you along Duke, you can estimate their tech level. I agree that wearing a somewhat more formal attire rather than battle armor would be a good idea.

Duke frowned and retorted slightly facetiously that's the best tech anyone's ever seen. I'm proud of that battle armour - if anything they should be impressed with it he offered with a grin.

"Vilani would usually assume that full powered armour worn to the negotiating table is an attempt to intimidate, and the usually Vilani response to intimidation is to respond with force. I do not know how similar their culture is to Vilani culture, but they clearly have met. The creatures seem to be slender humanoids with four hornlike protrusions on the top of their heads and large ears that taper to points. Skin colours seems to be dark red and their seemingly pupil less eyes are bright red, so they are clearly not Vilani, however."

She says, zooming in on the approaching party with cameras.

I am opening the exit door, as they seem to le looking for a location to form up to greet you. It will take a minute to pressurize the hull a little...

The group quickly adjust their outer wear to the situation.

Cyril asks if the delegation approaching is armed at all (pistols, ceremonial blades, whatever)

He has his pistol belt and Holster ready to wear if it seems appropriate.
