Mapping the unknown

Glad you thought to mention our supply level, Natalie [I'd have thought itwould have ben brought up at 50% and 25% ... not 3 or 4 days]

OK, a quick survey for possible food items, Kyamoto, we'll need a verification of safety for anything we find, so be prepared.
If there is nothing much, we go on short rations and jump for Aegir  in 6 hours.

Mapping the unknown

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 27):

"Sorry, sir, reduced cargo capacity caught me by suprise."

It takes an away team less than a day to find suitable samples of food from the planet with life. They also report seeing several primitive villages, but the inhabitants either stayed in their primitive hide tents or otherwise eluded them.

Kyamoto clears some cacti for consumption, as well as a some kind of slow moving herbivore that feeds in the arid landscape. Dust and sandstorms seem common.

Duke glanced at the petty officer and then back to Cyril "Aye, we could collect some materials down there for the fab(ricator). If we get plenty more sand, we can start building more boards and i guess there's plenty of other stuff down there we could use too.

So long as we want to eat cactus pads and UI Herbivore ... we'll leave a gift for the locals too... not exactly sur what to leave... maybe some metal bowls or mirrors.

I understand, but it's not looking like they are much past hunter gather level.

Umm...perhaps ... but they may not have anything we want... it's worth a try I suppose.

Launch a contact mission...

Kat puts the Dastavka in a low orbit before preparing to head out.

Natalie, Kat, Armstrong, Sigorney, Hancock, Tonkin, Jo and anyone else who want to prepare to head off in the Ships boat. Illiam and Marcus are operating the craft, as usual, unless otherwise ordered.

She will suit up and head into the Ships boat. She waves to her hubby as she disappears. She has her pistol with her.

That's fine, although she should be in full contact at all times and have a beacon attached to facilitate rescue or reinforcement as needed.

True. So you should hear everything broadcast on the main radio and be able to track their location, though the personal radios won't have the oomph to reach you.

It indicates they have landed.

"Sir, the translator seems to have gotten a basic grasp of their language. It seems to take a long time, but since these primitives do not seem to have clocks, that does not seem to concern them in the least. They have met peacefully and invited us to join them for a meal. I excused myself to let you know, but I should return soon."
