So we seem to have an Iiken looking to get even with us... and they seem to have a very good ability to know where we are going and when.
Bonnie, Please go over the whole ship and look for a tracking device, likely one they can activate at will.

"Yes, boss. get back to you!" she says and heads off to scan everything, both direct trackers and for intermittant 'leaks' in other systems, including logs or signals in and out in case of any passive trackers.

No passive trackers or signals were detected. You go through the logs and note that on at least two occasions, they were waiting for you at the system you were headed for, but on one occasion a patrol foiled them, and on the other occasion, they were at the wrong planetary body.

Duly noted, but they do seem to know which system to go to... None of their old crew are with us, so either somone aboard talks too much or they have early access to or flight plans.

Many Thanks Bonnie, I am surprised we found nothing, but there are other ways to figure out where we are going.

She sets about trying to correlate where they were (almost0 greeted with what information had been listed on their light plans, specifically deliveries, including people! She lloks for common threads here, and includes Jurelda in the 'hunt-the-needle-in-the-haystack' task.

Not really . Just giving you a chance to do things now that you land here.

It will not be long before you are directed to a warehouse for the colonial supplies as the first step for your new contract. The warehouse is a non-descript building beside an old starport that is still functioning. You are directed to unload your cargo there before you go too far.

And the plot is in there beside the other supplies.  ;-)

We load up and check for any approved passengers.  I'll give the crew 12 hours to do any shopping they need to, but if not aboard in 12 hours, they are on their own util we return in four weeks.

The can have the cargo and four passengers loaded and ready to go in 24 hours this time, as it is the first run, but they do say in future there will be a 24 hour turn around period. Supplies are to be provided by the colony. They will refuel you though, as part of the agreement.

The area is a heavy industrial region, with plenty of slums and while entries and exits are heavily controlled, what goes on in the slums generally stays in the slums.

After a comforting few seconds' nestling she extracts herself and goes off to hustle the experts for some more insights into first aid.

With that thought in mind bonny trots off to see Jurelda. "Hey, hun, how you doing? Want a hand? And, uh, I was kindof wondering about suiting up and having a poke around the slums, you know, to see if anyone wanted to do some grey business. Hard to get stuff, you know. Very valuable elswehere.. Interested? Any ideas?"

In reply to Bonny Taching (msg # 47):

Jurelda has trawled through the local news and advertisements for a few hours before she responds.

"Sure. Let's try a few of the bars or warehouses that are open..."

She is ready to head out...with a suitably armoured business suit and concealed weapon.

There are 10 bars that are advertised as being open all hours.

1. Loaded Dawg. Advertises a good cheap local brew. Looks to be a place for port workers.
2. Wayfarers Hubbie. Definitely a seedy location that offers massages with the lot...you get the feeling you may get more than you bargain for here!
3. Iishuni Taijin. Just a bar. Nothing more is advertised.
4. Dark Corner. Someone was killed here recently, so a very rough location. Rumoured to be a mobster hangout.  Topless waiters every Tuesday and Thursday.
5. Good Cop. Sounds like anything but...
6. Handy Corner shoppe. This seems to be a favorite hangout for at least one mercenary gang.
7. Bent Inn. Non-descript place that has also seen it's share of violence. Seems to be associated with the Dark Corner in all the wrong ways.
8. Madaam Muffin's Place. Pleasures for guys and gals alike. All workers come with health certificates no more than a month old. There seems to be a medical practice in the same building...
9. Geonee Grease Monkeys. Lubricant for the tight tongued...cheap highly rated meals, non-Geonee may be asked to leave though.
10. Gentleman's Rest. There seems to be at least 4 cases of failure to pay child support that mention this location. The seem to have recently reduced their services...and possibly have the cheapest meals. Maybe to get customers back, or maybe they are just very cheap!

There are at least three locations that have been shut down in the last three months as well. Two due to drug abuse and a third due to child sex offenses, The latter one was burnt to the ground last week, when the emergency services were a little late in responding. Just 16 hours. They claim they never got the call, though the billowing black smoke just three blocks away makes that hard to believe. At least 6 of the alleged offenders were killed in the fire. Despite the crime rate, you get the idea that some crimes are not tolerated.

Bonny smiles from ear to ear as her morphbodysuit flashes between transparent and a business suit and she then gets Jurelda to help adjust the buniess suit so that it looks just so.

"Dark Corner? As if I want to stare at some guy's hairy armpits as he leans over the table. Yuk," she comments. "Good job on the research though, dear. Hhmmm the Wayfarers sounds a bit tacky. Muffin's is a bit better, but that's maybe not the sort of business we're seeking, right? Good Cop, Corner Shoppe and Bent Inn might be ok but might be very not.. Loaded Dawg sounds ok, Gentleman's Rest rather, um, downmarket. I'm drawn, obviously, to Geonee Grease Monkeys, but Iishuni Taijin is intriguing just from it not saying anything. A little like 'if you need to ask the price then this isn't for you..' So I think Grease Monkeys and see if they can put us straight? Maybe then Iishuni Taijin? But what do you think?" After a pasue bonny adds, "Maybe I should make this look like overalls?"

The tracker is passive until activated by being squeezed for 5 seconds. After a two minute delay it will then emit a ID pulse once every twenty minutes. Waveband and ID code are known to Bonny (but not me) and copied through to Sdian with a backup in Bonny's day log. It's a transparent round stick-on disk. Works for 72 hours but only ever tested on the ship. (Maybe available tech allows it to recharge somewhat from body heat.)

No problem.

You head out together to the Geonee Grease Monkey. Dress code is, as expected, not at all formal, but the bouncers ask for ID, and evidence of heritage, which is usually on every Vilani passport. As both of yours have Geonee heritage, there is no issues there. The male bouncers direct you to the women's section.
