In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 654):

The vessels position is corrected easily by Kat, making it look deceptively simple.

The vessel enters hyperspace, coming out a week later at the outer limit of Chrysolite.

[OOC: Let me know of any actions in hyperspace now. If important, we will deal with them before moving on.]

Mostly just training on the ships systems so we aren't hopeless ... it's obviously a different set up...  a Note to Andrew; stretching this ship 10-12 feet would allow a significant increase in storage for little additional cost or size increase. Handling could use improvement as well.

The Empire strikes back

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 656):

As Cyril familiarizes himself with the ships systems during the hyperspace trip, the rest of the crew follow his example.

By the time you come to Chrysolite, you are at home with the ships systems. After the Dastavka, it seems little bigger than a fighter. The planetary patrol craft is a modified Karl Marx fitted to act as an escort carrier, and it sits on the far limit of the planet to make an easier escape if outgunned. A quartet of fighters clear you soon after arrival, with a warning to follow all rules and keep your noses clean.

Chrysolite is an ancient world, with a very high proportion of it's atmosphere saturated with water. Spectacular lightning storms greet your approach. Despite the fact that this probably houses more colonists than all the other colonies in this sector combined, with the exception of Thalassa, it seems rather an inhospitable place. 52,000 people call this planet home, and it is known as the unofficial base of exploration into the new worlds beyond.

Mesa is the planets only large town of significance, and it houses a bar known as the Golden Stone, renown as the place to meet explorers. It is on the shores of a large lake.

There is a moderate range of alcoholic drinks, as well as an unusual variety of juices.

[Ooc: All have been visited, but not explored. Biology is not known, and suitability for a colony has never been properly assessed. That is your task.]

You are poured a drink, and charged $20.

There are four groups in the bar: a single chap in the corner looking a little soiled, a rowdy group of young folk around the pool table, a group of middle aged folk talking quietly near the bar and a old man that looks like he has had more than everyone else put together to drink.

He then goes over to the quiet man ... Mr. Bonicelli, do you have a few moments to talk about some of your exploration trips?

"Not really. Except take along a Biologist to gather supplies. Several of them have plant life, some of which is edible, and we even heard of some carnivorous animals there too. Check out the atmosphere before landing too.

Oh, and watch your navigation. If you have a survey system, use it. If not, well, good luck. Sometimes aiming for the star can be the best shot.

Well much of that is good advice and common sense... or is it uncommon sense? I won't have a biologist, but have the ship crammed full of supplies. Hopefully that will work.

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 677):

"Heh, nice theory. You would be surprised how under equipped some folk are. All armed up after coming through Vilani space, but bugger all survey or survival gear. Had several vessels pass through here this year, that have not been seen for months. A couple dissapeared last year too. My advice would be to go back and get yourself a biologist. Or hire one here. Most doctors have sufficient biological understanding, and I hope you are not dumb enough not to have one of them, at least."
