'Not a bad day' thought Max. Nobody gave him the full story, but he figured they'd made about forty tons. It was heartening, at least to him, to realize that producing the steel from scrap had lowered the carbon footprint to an almost non-threatening level. Pushing such concerns away, Max headed for home. The Pearson family was expecting number eighteen, and they were going for an ultrasound on tonight's episode. No one else at work watched the stuff, but they had their own families. Max still wasn't sure his mutation would allow that.
At least, watching the Pearson's show, he could engage vicariously with his dream.
