You gain a +1 RS to your agility rank, strength rank and endurance rank when they are used to perform actions associated with athletics; for example: feats of strength for climbing and jumping, feats of agility for acrobatics, horse-riding and gymnastics, and feats of endurance for swimming and distance running. This does not apply to attacks in combat.
Contacts
Contacts are people or organisations that your character is friendly with and who can provide your character with information or help you out in emergencies. These contacts can range from established super heroes to government organisations to military groups or corporations. You can even have super villains or criminal organisations as contacts, although as a super hero you obviously need to be careful how closely you associate yourself with such groups.

Maxwell was an average kid raised by average parents in an average small town. After high school he started welding on the line with all the other average joes trying to make a living. Despite working himself near to death and having no life outside the extra shifts and additional odd jobs, he wasn't getting rich. After they shut down the plant, and he spent half a year trying to find work, things were looking bleak. Moving to the big city, Max thought he might have better options and more opportunities. The school system hired him, as a janitor.
Rather than give up, Max worked hard all night and looked for more work during the day. Answering an advertisement at one of the many "payday loan" establishments, Max was involved in a robbery. The men trying to steal the cash were nervous, twitchy, and probably dangerous. Max raised his hands and backed to the wall, saying, "Ok, no problem here, no need to have a problem here."
The gunman fired, and Max saw red. Only he wasn't seeing blood, he was just mad. He lowered his hands and stepped from the wall towards the gunman. Somebody was shouting "OK NOW YOU TICKED ME OFF!" Max didn't know it was him till he saw the security footage, but he didn't admit it. The gunmen hadn't walked away with the money. The businesses security system didn't show the man at the door (Max had been identified by the employees, but they hadn't seen what happened). It showed a gunman firing at someone who had come in, and man made of living mirror shouting at the men with guns, blinding them with glare, then hooking two fingers of each hand in the front of the gunmen's shirts, and bouncing both of the gunmen off the ceiling.
Eventually, Max figured out he was a mutant of some sort, and decided he could help. Maybe if he did enough good deeds, he could turn his own life around. His code name was uninspired, but he stuck with it because no one else wanted it. Somehow, that was becoming a theme.
