Mission 2: Lonely Moof

Onyx exits from his quarters. He pulls out his rifle, and seeing Dienton switch to stun he does the same. Nicely done. He says noding his approval. But we're just getting started. With that Onyx exits the ship. Moving slowly he keeps his rifle scanning the cargo ship daring anyone to show themselves. They reach the locked door and Onyx drops to a knee for the extra stability. He keeps his gun trained on the doorway, ready incase it opens. Onyx whispers to those who came withAnyone got any ideas on getting this prick to open up?

Dienton moves up to the door and examines the locking mechanism.  Flashbacks of his time trudging through the ship near Mos Espa made him wince.  This had better not be a repeat!  Opening the panel he reviews the wiring and it seemed very familiar.  He thought he could see how to hotwire the doors mechanism.

The memories of that horrible experience makes his hands shake slightly, he has to take moment and breath deep before his nerves begin to calm.

Before he triggers the door, he wispers to the group "Ready?"

OOC

The door slides open. Inside is a pair of males wearing spacers' coveralls. One is leaned against the door and falls forward. The other is at the comm station. He spins around in surprise.

Caddy nods to Dienton, Onyx and Ikki (and Forim if he's there too!) ready for the opening of the door.  These people had constantly defied her and it was beginning to erk.   Her blaster is most certainly not set to stun and she holds it lightly in her hand while she waits behind Dienton.

And then the door open and the man leaning on it stumbles, surprised... so she steps from her moment of cover to place her blaster firmly on exposed flesh... throat, forehead... somewhere where he'd feel the metallic cold of the weapon and hopefully stop him dead (without pulling the trigger).

She raises other hand and points an accusing finger at the other man in coveralls, "Where is the Captain of this ship?"  Her voice is cold and demanding and despite her pink hair and pleasant appearance, she cuts a start picture.

Coercion: 08:44, Today: Caddanra 'Caddy' Manitu rolled 1 success using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1a 2p 2b 2d.  Went with 2d as though I suspect he's only 'untrained' (according to the chart) - just in case.   I added 1B for the surprise arrival and 'simple' opening of the door they expected would remain shut.  And 1B for the gun on his partner the guys around me with trained rifles on them.

Also, I'd like to flip a destiny point to have the guy at the door (and with my gun pointed at him) be the captain?  Not sure if that's possible, but it would expedite matters :-)]

Forim joins the group on their foray to the communications hub.  Instead of being in the line of fire, Forim lets the others open the door and takes some cover further back.  He is watching their rear, waiting to hear the sounds of combat before he pokes his head up.  No sense getting both pilots and mechanics shot at the same time.

ooc: Short range from the door, full cover behind some crates.  Focusing on ensuring no one surprises us from behind.

Caddy interrogates the crew members. He shudders involuntarily.

"Th-the captain is probably still on the control levels. She keeps the armoury in the aft of the ship, in the officers' cabins. She's probably arming her security team right now."

The crewman glances involuntarily up at the security holocam in the corner.

Forim hears and sees something he wasn't quite expecting. The door at the far end of the cargo bay slides open. He takes aim, but the target is somewhat shorter than he was expecting.

It's an astromech droid. Probably an R2 or an R3 series, judging by the cylindrical chassis and domed 'head'. It appears to be painted mostly black, with an odd white whorl on its dome.

The droid rolls into the cargo hold.

Forim shouts to be heard "Droid.  Stop or you will be fired upon" loud enough that the droid can hear him, as well as informing his crew that there is activity in the rear

Spending 2 maneuvers aiming this round.  2 next round.  Then another on the third and firing.
Confirming that shooting a droid on stun in your game also stuns the droid (eg overloads their circuits)

Stunning droids is substantially less effective than stunning biologicals. To stun a droid, you're better off with an ion weapon.

This droid doesn't seem interested in fighting, though. It gives a surprised 'meep' and spins around. The droid rolls back towards the door it came out of.

"All Clear" Forim says to his team.  He takes this time to find new cover, so that if the droid reports his position, he will not be in the same place.

Ideally full cover from the room that the other PCs are in, and partial cover from the door.

Dienton moves into the Comm room, ushering the occupants outside under the guard of Caddy and Onyx.  Momentarily flipping his blaster to a higher setting he blastd the holocam in the corner "I hate those things" he mutters.

Sitting at the controls he flips some switches trying to shut down any current broadcast, but the crew had locked that piece of software.  The broadcast rang out uninterupted.

Cursing, Dienton flipped a few more toggles so they could hear the broadcast and determine its impact.

Fortunately, the ship's comms aren't currently broadcasting. Dienton is able to ascertain the most recent comm history.

A textual summary emerges. It seems to be comms between the ship & its escorts.

Ikki pushed the other one against the wall, gesturing with his carbine towards the cargo bay "What's in them boxes?" He puts on a dumb sounding tough guy voice to try and fit in with the dumb muscle of Caddy.

Watching the holocam shot down by Dienton, he looked over at Caddy "Looks like we'll have company, ma'am" He looked at the two males "Want them dead or as bargaining pieces?" He asked her as a henchman would ask for direction. However to his team, they all knew the kill part was an act.

Onyx pulls Ikki to a side. Far enough away that their hostages wouldn't be able other what he had to say.

We aren't going to last long here if we let them assemble. I think 1 us needs to get to the navigation system so that we C a get out of here. I think that should be you because, Onyx motions to the axe. Things get pretty tight on a ship. While you do that we can set up some kind of obstacle here and try to last until you get the data. After that, well, we'll improvise.

Mission 2: Lonely Moof

Dienton dove into the mechanics of the communications terminal, looking to eliminate any possibility of outbound communications from the bridge.  Peering beneath the console he was able to pinpoint where the bridge controls were routed through this terminal.  He disconnected those pathways and removed several vital components, which he pocketed.  That should prevent an easy repair if they were flanked.

He tossed the stolen components into the air, then slipped them into his belt pouch.  "Argh, Comms are down mi'hearties, lets get ta plunderin!" said his new Pirate persona.  "Ill get'ta the computer an start extracting data."  looking at Ikki, "Care't join?"

OOC
Rolled 3D Mechanics - 3 success

GM - per the map, the sensors, navicom, and main computer all appear to be right next to the comm system on this same level, so access should be easy, right?  Let us know if thats not the case.

If all these systems are where the map says they are, then Onyx is right, lets set up a barricade of sorts while I and anyone else with decent computers rolls, works on the getting data from the navicom and main computer.

Ikki nods to Onyx, whispering as well "Gotcha, Keep them safe." He agrees with the bounty hunter and swaps his carbine out for his axe "Let's get out of this alive."

Nodding to Dienton as he looked him "Aye, lets get our loot." He slips back into a pirate speech thanks to Dienton's. Following him with his axe out, hopefully the sight of him would put most comflict off and if not, Dienton could stun and he had his fists....

Dienton enters the main computer room and begins a download. In only a few minutes, all the ship's navigation information will be on his datapad.

For the time being, you're stuck.

You case the rooms and decide that there isn't much here worth stealing. Someone has left some loose change lying around; you pocket 7 credits. You also gather a spare datapad and a glowrod.

You'll have to do a more thorough exam to be sure, but the hanger bay doesn't look like there's much in the way of valuables. There's some scrap metal that doesn't look like it's plated in chromium, and that toolbox probably contains hydrospanners rather than glow-pearls.

Dienton has a direct tap into the ship's main computer, though. According to the cargo manifest, the other bays have actual goods in them.

Bay 2 apparently has refined materials, ceramics, and droid parts. Bay 3, the lowest level, is apparently building materials and factory equipment.

Even as you peer over the ship's files, you are interrupted. Your download stops at 17%. Suddenly the screen changes display.

"I think we can do without the mess right now."   She is a very 'posh' pirate. "Please tie them." She produces several large cable ties which she expects the two crew will gladly accept given the alternative.

Then to the pair, "And where exactly would environmental be?" She'll remove their pass keys (or demand pass codes) and hand these to Dienton before he heads out for the main computer room. Hopefully if they got control of the environmentals and the gravity, there'd be no fighting.

[OOC She will assist Dienton with 3A or a 1B for computers to both take control of environmentals and get data.]

"And yet you had access to and to lock the comms room?" She had to wonder if this man was lying all things considered, but she led them back into the cargo hold and after taping their mouth, she left the pair of them in a 'hidden' corner where Forim could still keep an eye on them.

Then, with Dienton, she sees the console locked remotely.   Comm-ing the ship as a whole (since they control the comms this should be easily possible) she speaks, <"Captain Vinjagga... You've defied me three times.  Your people's lives are being sacrificed for your idiocy.   Your two escorts... your gun man.   And now the first of your comms-men.">  She fires a single shot, the whine of the blaster clearly not set to stun heard over the comms.   <"Crew of the Royal Prize.  Your captain has failed you.   I offered her your lives and she's thrown them away.   I now offer you your lives.   Bring your Captain and Haruko to me - alive.   Bring them both to cargo bay.  This is my final offer.  I will give you 10 minutes to decide before your second comms-man will fall....">  She flips the comms to an automated 'ticking' sound allowing the seconds to pass.

She then taps the desk where a small sticky-note may give Dienton a clue....

[So a total of no successes and 7 Advantages.   The ruling on advantages->triumph conversion would need to be considered here.  Regardless, I could use one advantage to notice something important.  A post-it note with a password stuck underneath the keyboard :-)

Dienton was staring at the screen, deciding whether to attempt a hack or not.  In reality, he was not a great tech, just the best they had at the moment and this was likely beyond his skill.

Caddy points out the note with a simple phrase on it and Dienton shrugged, probably wont hurt to try it.  He inputs the data and waits . .  hoping . .

The crew members are obliging enough.

"The captain recruits a few drifters from every planet we come across. They don't get paid much, but they get three hots and a cot."

They seem to have come to the conclusion that whichever one is more helpful is less likely to be used as a shield.

"They get guns and clubs to use. Haruko teaches them the basics, but they're mostly to scare off the gangers in the rougher ports."

The word 'terrifying' is not often associated with chandra-fan, but you get a pretty good result.

"S-seven!"

"I think we're up to eight now."

"Yes! Eight! Eight more. And then the captain."

"And Haruko."

"So that's ten."

There's a pause. "Yes, ten."

Another pause. "What about the droid?"

"He said 'hands.' Droids don't count."

"He's an employee, though."

"Okay. Ten and a droid."
