"Understood, see if the sniper has any credentials on him. Anders out." Anders taps Forum on the back to get his attention and then relays the information over to him about the sniper being down as well as Caddy.

The man's pockets are empty of everything but credits. He has two thousand credits in various denominations. He has no ID card or military insignia to be found. On his belt is a trio of stimpacks, a long-range civilian commlink, and a set of electrobinoculars. His light blaster pistol has fallen near his body.

He is also wearing a strange mechanical backpack harnessed to his torso. The hydraulic arm holds his heavy blaster rifle.

Forim nods and pulls out his com "Xyklo, are there any enemies near you?  I can come pick up the princess on the bike and get back quicker."

Slipping off the speeder bike, Kraken made room for the injured.  Unsure if they were turning back, or continuing, Kraken waits to see what comes next, following the group back if that's what was needed.

Xyklo can't help but laugh, everything except what he was looking for! Gathering up the various items into pouches and his pockets, he leaves one thing he had been hoping to find out, one of the stimpacks. He'd used one of his own to patch up Caddy, and only had one left now, these extras were timely.
Perhaps the Force was with them.
"Actually captain that might be good, I can probably carry her if I need to but, well, she has been tucking into her food these last few days.
No enemies in sight...  yet." Another anxious glance around, this time using the electro binoculars.

Xyklo applies the stimpack to Caddy, and returns his attention to the rifle and harness while he waited for Forim. He can't figure out how to remove the harness rig from the ruined armour, instead he settles for detaching the weapon.
Finally he crouches next to Caddy and uses another of the stims on himself, turning his mind back to the rather treacherous nature of the power cells he'd been issued with.

OOC: Today: Xyklo Voozul rolled 1 failure, 2 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1P 2A 2D.  Mech check for harness salvage.
Use the advs to recover the rifle from the rig.

As Xyklo is attempting to detatch the harness, a small panel slides open on the back. A Fist-sized cylinder slides out. On the upper face, a circle of green LEDs light up. As Xyklo and Caddy watch, the circles start turning from green to red.

Vigilance 2d, athletics 2d, or mechanics 2d.

"Aw Krillik!" Xyklo curses, as the lights turn red.
Desperately he starts pulling at wires...

Forim says to Anders, "Looks like I need to do a pickup run" and then hops off the bike to help Anders get off.

"You guys keep walking, I will catch up with the Princess in tow"

With that, he turns the speeder and heads back toward the battle.

Once he gets closer he sees the split in the canyon "Can you give me directions to your position Xyklo?" he says, not knowing which route they took, or if they even went along the canyon floor.

Unsure of where the others were exactly and unsure just how far the Imperials might be from landing again, Kraken takes cover, watching and waiting.

The lights on the device continue to tick down even as Xyklo frantically attempts to disarm it. Caddy leaps away, tripping and stumbling before the bomb detonates.

8 Damage presoak.

The area around the valley in the maze has gone quiet for awhile. Blaster bolts and detonations have ceased, leading to a troubling stillness in the air. Then, from away, you hear a few more blaster bolts that quickly go silent again. Just as you are beginning to relax, another explosion breaks the silence.

Forim flinches at the explosion and says "Are you all right?  Did more Imperials find you?" into the com hoping to get an update.

Xyklo lies on his back. His head buzzing, and not in a good way, explosives always messed up his antenna. It took a couple of moments before he could pick out the voice of Forim.
"Captain? Yeah...   yeah sorry. Nearly killed us both."<Green> he finally managed to get the stimpack applied, before crawling over to Caddy.
<Green>"Yes Caddy is still breathing, though she is pretty messed up. Her hair needs a wash..," and Caddy also gets a stim, though not enough to bring her around.
Sitting next to the young woman, Xyklo waits patiently for Forim to arrive, idly playing with the snipers pistol and rueing his failure to get the rifle before the bomb went off.
"Captain...   don't suppose we got any more jam?" he asks hopefully.

Yes... Caddy had approached and then failed to retreat from the explosion, being knocked flying once again.   The third stim of the day brings her around but barely so - but enough to talk.  "Was that the last one?  Did we get them all?"  It sounds a little feverish if Xyklo thinks that way.  "Are we safe?"  The way she's feeling right now, she had to wonder if her sacrifice for the team was to be the eternal one.

Xyklo looks round and smiles.
"No I got one more from him and one more in my...   oh you mean was that the last Imp?!
I doubt it. There's always more of them, and it's only a matter of time before..,
You know.
So no, I wouldn't say safe either," despite the gloomy words, the young Verpine seems quite cheerful, if a little scorched and covered in dirt.

Forim follows the directions to where Xyklo and Caddy are, going to pick them up.

As he approaches them he waves, grim faced and says "Good to see that explosion didn't kill anyone.  This is going to be tight.  Caddy, you look like you are about to fall over so you sit in the middle.  I will stand and pilot at the front, Xyklo you hop on the back and make sure she doesn't fall off."

The sniper's body and his remaining gear have been completely destroyed. Whatever use that hydraulic harness might have been, it's in shards now.

There were at least a few minutes where the sniper was free of jamming. He might easily have gotten a comm call out to his commanding officer. At least there are no Imperials in the vicinity for the moment.

Seeing Forim approach to rescue them covers her with a wave of relief.  "Forim....   Thank you."  She groans as she moves, it's painful and she covered in scratches from the debris of the explosion, the rock, and the burn marks from the shot, "We got the sniper.  Are the troops around the carrier dealt with?  We can't be letting them recover and communicate out or this was for naught.  We need to make sure before we leave."

Xyklo slips a leg over the seat behind Caddy. Grimly he turns back towards the imperial carrier.
"That's moot now anyway. The sniper had a comm system, I've got it for Kraken to take a look at it, but considering his location and time unobstructed, we have to assume the message was broadcast until proven otherwise."

OOC: Force, was it just a basic blaster pistol the Baron had?

Forim says "Negative.  We have many wounded we need to get out, and we cannot move quickly.  The Jamming field was probably detected on at least one sensor station, and that sniper was not in the Jamming field.  We only one this one with divine intervention, we wont win the next one" as he drives past the battlefield and catches up with the rest of the group.

Xyklo nods at Forims response.

Caddy just shakes her head.   The plan had worked!   "No.... We won!   Make our victory stick....  If we leave anyone living, we automatically lose.   If we give ourselves a chance, we could be lucky!   We already know they were over confident and the explosion was a quick ending."   She coughs.   Her wounds are bad but they need this victory.   "If you're worried, send two in to quickly clean up while the rest retreat.  We can then watch from a distance."

In reply to Caddanra 'Caddy' Manitu (msg # 381):

"Sorry we don't watch for anything we run and we run hard. Your actions in the ambush cost us surprise and that was what turned this into the cluster fuck that it became. We need to go now and you can come or stay I really don't care."

Forim nods and says "We are leaving Ma'am, and you are coming with us.  Don't worry Ma'am, we will get you out safe."

Xyklo drops his head apologetically.
"Forims right Caddy. I really don't think I can keep saving you like this, it's tearing up me up some....   at least not without a nights sleep in between.

Anyway, I think this battle is done. We still gotta find the tree, right."

Caddy could argue... but she really wasn't in a fit state to be doing so.   She could only hope now that those troopers who recovered would not be able to radio back given their long-range transmitter in the transport had been destroyed.   If not, then their belligerence would surely cost them.  "Do as you please.  I made sure we could jam their comms.  They needed to speak and my appearance ensured that.   Flee then and for fit any victory we could have."
