Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Xyklo had been peering over Krakens shoulder, reading the translation coding on his data display, or else he'd have been lost in this whole debate. His snout twitches as he reads the dialogue.
At the suggestion that they obtain the rival chiefs permission Xyklo looks up at Forim.
"That's seems reasonable, right captain? We don't want to leave here having brokered feelings of resentment between the tribes. That kinda thing would promote disharmony in the force," he finishes profoundly. Then feels a bit stupid for having quoted something he knows nothing about.

"Well that looks to be settled then." Anders looks east and lifts his gear up again ready to depart. As the others prepare he again gives the horizon a scan.

Anders Flown rolled no successes, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1d 1a 1p.  Keeping watch.

Forim nods and pulls up a map on his datapad and asks "That is fully understandable.  But are you able to point out on the map where we might find the Tree?"

Once he gets the directions (or not) he says "Thank you very much for your understanding." and hands out.

The wise woman spreads her hands. "The Tree is a thing of myth. One might as well ask where on the map the sun was born. If it is real, as the Aki-Varshi believe, then they have kept its location secret for generations."

Anders scans the horizon. For a moment he wonders if he can see a shuttle descending on the maze of pillars, but he cannot be sure.

Kraken, watching his datapad for the translation had little of value to input but gathered it all and nods when the local refused to show on the map, due to inability or unwillingness.  'At least they don't try to shot us or poison us.' he thinks to himself.

Looking to Anders, then to the pilars, he frowns, "Empire?" he mutters moving out with the others.  Preparing his pistol, Kraken left with the others looking about for danger.  Once away from the locals, he puts on the stormtrooper helmet, to see if it gave any ranged vision benefits.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

The Geik wise woman glances around, as though searching for insight on these strange outsiders from her fellow Blue Speckles. Alas, they are as ignorant as she, and looking to her in return.

"The Aki-Varshi keep to themselves, and rarely come as far north as our breeding grounds. They have nothing for us and desire nothing we have. They do not welcome visitors, and are not shy about striking down any who intrude on their territory." She pauses, tapping her chin with her fingers. "They look something like you. They have skin instead of scales."

"If you truly wish to meet them, I can only suggest travelling south beyond the canyon and waiting. Surely some of them will come to find you. I would not suggest travelling into their demesne uninvited."

Form bows once again and says "Thank you for your council."  He fiddles with the map and marks a location.  Showing it to the guide he says "Would this be a good spot to wait?"

Xyklo rests the stolen blaster rifle over one shoulder as he bounces along cheerfully next to Forim.
"Well, see if we can't make more friends here then.
Maybe even get everyone together and incite a mini rebellion against the Imps?"

Forim smiles at Xyklo and says "With a friendly person like you around, how can we not make more friends!" as the now shrinking group trudges the looooong distance south.

Forim will take the time to look around for Game that they could eat, and suggests that Xyklo practices his long range skills to help secure dinner.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

It is early evening by the time you reach the edge of the badlands. The river has branched, and branched, and branched again until there are only small rivulets saturating the area. The ground is sloshy and thick with vegetation.

Then it stops. Abruptly the ground is hard, and dry, and dusty. At first the dust is damp, but after a kilometer or so you are definitely in the badlands. The ground is cracked and grey, with only small patches of grass and thin brown vines to break up the earth. The ground smells sour, like salt and acid and sun-burnt dust.

On the way, you had plenty of opportunity to grab roots, berries, fish, and lizards to eat.

Survival 1C. Every 1 success is a meal. Threats may be food poisoning.

Anders knew that chasing after mobile rations was not going to be his thing so he keeps watch over those who are better at it. Once they are in the "badlands" Anders will look for some sort of shelter once they are close to the waiting point.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Not wishing to expend any excess ammunition after the disaster with his rebel issue reloads, Xyklo sticks to foraging plain green leaves and berries during the trek. Some dark red berries lift his mood a bit.
"These would make great jam. If we get stuck here, what with the ship being destroyed, we should certainly try making some," the other obstacles of being stranded behind enemy lines taking less importance.

OOC: Got one success on the survival check.

Roger finds something to act as a pouch, or similar, and, if successful, acquires extra food items to carry along and help sustain his crewmates.
"It's good to get firm ground under my feet."  Roger keeps vigilant watch as they move along, noting that they are fully exposed out here in the badlands, "We have a long way to go, when you need rest, I'll keep watch."

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

A few hours go by and it is getting dark. The badlands plains are vast and flat, with no cover for miles. You are forced to camp out in the open. You have plenty of opportunity to indulge in that old Rebel tradition of being thankful for not having creature comforts:

"Good thing we don't have anything to make a fire out of, or else the Imps would see the fire!"

The badlands are pitch dark. There are very few insects or birds here, so the night is very quiet. You can hear the breeze whistling across the wasteland. The stars glimmer and blink in the sky. You try to make a game out of spotting Imperial ships in orbit, but unfortunately it is too easy. The Dreadnaught is the biggest target, still hanging up there blocking the occasional pinprick of light. It's not too hard to spot the Carrack cruiser either. Though it is considerably smaller, it also moves faster. You can't see any TIEs from here, but there must be a few on patrol.

Morning comes with the bright sun reflecting off the yellow-white dust of the badlands. Sleeping through it is not an option, and the wind picks up too. You journey on.

It quickly gets very hot, and the blowing dust is giving you a Tatooine facial. You must dig deep to avoid it harming your resolve -- and your health.

1D 1C Resilience check. I believe the droid gets some bonus on this.

Anders was somewhat dressed for the environment, he keeps the cowl up on his cloak and drinks a fair amount of water as well. As they walk he will stop every now and then and check their immediate surroundings with his Electrobinoculars.

"Forim any idea how far we need to go, will we get there sometime today ?"

Anders Flown rolled no successes, 1 threat using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2a 1D 1C.  Resilience check.

Xyklo struggles under the weight of his assorted firearms, until the thought of leaving his APC on the speeder takes him.

Relieved of one bulky rifle his demeanour returns to its cheerful nature. He keeps the blaster rifle half ready as they move, hoping the dry scrubland will reveal more of the tasty berries he found earlier.
Xyklo slips one of the headphones over his right antenna, and sets the pad to a series of melodic Pantoran guitar riffs.

OOC:
07:41, Today: Xyklo Voozul rolled 1 failure, 5 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 1D 1C.  Resilience .
I'm not sure what happened to Kraken IC, or the speeder bike. If both have disappeared I'd like to add a setback dice to my check for the weight of kit please. I'll leave the 5 advantages to Force to decide what to do there!...

Forim, exhausted, can only shake his head in the negative as he trudges forward.

Forim's mind cannot help but wonder back into space, when they still had their ship.  If it wasnt for that young head strong princess who thinks the world is a holodrama they would still have their ship...

Roger trudges along with the others, the blowing grit causing him as much problem as it was the organics, "If we proceed at an average pace of four kilometers per hour, a reasonable pace in this environment, I estimate we can traverse the badlands in approximately 16 hours.  Factoring in rest, we may make the traverse in two days.  If this wind continues, though, I fear my joints will cease up, and all my paint will be sand blasted away."

Resilience:  16:06, Today: B1-P3 'Roger' rolled 2 failures using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1a 1d 1c ((1(A), 1(D), 4(C))).
