Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Kraken takes one of the blades, if no one else wanted it.  Helping to loot, Kraken will take some of the blaster magazines, if they could be used.  Entering the transport, Kraken checks the vehicle for any other electronic or mechanical parts that they might be able to use.

OOC:
'Kraken' rolled 3 successes, 1 advantagesMechanical - Search the vehicle for parts.

'Kraken' rolled 2 successes, 2 advantagesComputers - Searching Vehicle for parts.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Unfortunately most of the internal electronics were ruined by the blast. Stripping the vehicle is possible, depending on what components Kraken wants to extract.

Imperial Troop Transports are basic, utilitarian craft used for surface transport where walkers are not practical. They carry a few turret-mounted blaster cannons, but few frills.

Forim continues to retreat and says "We need to pull back!  The sniper was outside the jamming field, backup is on its way.  It will be flying over our position with bombers in less then a minute I bet.  We need to MOVE" as he watches Kraken continue to head toward the transport.

In reply to The Force (msg # 336):

Looking to Roger, Kraken frowns.  "Anders, do you have any more grenades?  Want to pull the pin and leave it under a body?  When they recover the body the Imperials can get a nasty surprise."

Grabbing an Imperial Helmet for his own use when shooting into dusty areas and two of the rifles from the imperials.  Even with the biometic lock, Kraken wanted to take a look at the devices.

OOC:
Hoping for any radar equipment, GPS equipment or gear that might help to navigate or map the planet a bit better.
Or find any intel they had on the ship.  Perhaps codes they use to get into their base, base map, etc.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

"You're welcome!" Xyklo beams back at Caddy, both antennae now standing tall. He helps the young woman to her feet, and once assured she is steady and able to move, he takes a quick circuit of the fallen troopers. A part of him has always found it distasteful to execute an already beaten foe, but as he darts around the nearby bodies with vibro blade drawn and ready he is aware of the need to stem the flow of information being sent back.

When Forims warning comes out, Xyklo sheathes his blade. No point killing these soldiers now, no value.
He should've damn well got the sniper when he had the chance.

Slipping a couple of magazines from the bodies to reload the stolen repeater, he bounds back to Caddy.
"Can you run? You want my help?" He asks, clearly concerned that she may still be suffering.

OOC: Taking the Light repeater, and a couple of reloads.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Caddy was unsteady on her feet but the has done its magic and she's able to follow Xyklo around as he, and she sees Kraken, search the battlefield.  She too is keeping a close eye out for the Sniper in the hope that she'll be able to see him before he leaves the suppression field.

[19:41, Today: Caddanra 'Caddy' Manitu rolled 1 success, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1p 2a 1b 1c 2D.  Spot.  With a LIGHT-SIDE flip.

Success on the spot...! (I used the same difficulty as Kraken)

Using the Advantage to notice that he's not quite outside the suppression field yet!]

Spotting something (and not just Forim calling from somewhere), she puts her hand on Xylo's shoulder, halting him in his tracks before quietly speaking, "Get your rifle out.   I just spotted movement.   Over there, holed up in the crevice."  She doesn't point, not wanting to give away their surprise.

[OOC: Just a note.  Caddy's Crit was '5' which is an 'easy' Crit.  She'll need medical attention if someone is able to.  But fortunately it won't badly affect her beyond the fact that she's wounded.]

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Unfortunately, whatever intel was stored on the transport was fragged. The transport's sensor equipment is bare-bones at best, and requires the vehicles' power source to function. Dismantling it will not result in a workable sensor array.

The stormtrooper sergeant does have a map of the area, but it is no better than the one you have. It indicates the landing point of the Imperial Raptor, which is right next to your own escape pods' crash site.

Xyklo collects a light repeater, but finds that it has also been equipped with the Imperials' new bio-locking technology. Only someone keyed to this weapon can use it, and so far the Rebels can only break the locks with specialized technology not available in the field.

Caddanra keeps her eyes peeled as the effects of the stimpack kick in. She sees a few rocks falling between two pillars on the West side of the canyon. She also sees a Phelt bird take off, squawking in protest at something that has disturbed it. Between this and the bloodstains, the Rebels have located the trail of the sniper.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Moving back outside, Kraken climbs aboard the speeder, waiting for the others to finish up their search.  "We leaving the bio locked weapons for the Imperial to recover?  The vehicle doesn't look like it's going anywhere, if they have anyone come to recover it, we could ambush them, if they don't have a large support."

Realizing that they were all likely in the sniper's sights, Kraken moves behind cover taking up a watch position encase the sniper decided to pop his head back up and take a few shots.

[Private to GM:
I'll add the vibroknife, Gene Locked stormtooper rifle and Stormtrooper helmet to my CS.  I know I can't use the Gene locked rifle, but taking it anyway for now.

Just curious, how long does it take to tap in the code to use a grenade?  I can't imagine trying to type in a code for the grenade while in the middle of combat.  No doubt it was designed by a gamer who has never been in combat or realized that often when fighting, you keep things simple or they simply don't work.  It's a nice idea, but combat wise it is impractical.  ;)

And then he was gone... "Get him!"  She points towards the spot and starts running herself, drawing her pistol.   Today was not a good day to die but if they could get the sniper before he alerted the imperials, then they'd have half a chance!

If the others can see, possibly Kraken and Roger - and maybe even Forim and Anders if they happen to have headed that was as they departed, Caddy is pointing at spot where the wildlife (the same wildlife she'd previously been able to understand well!) had given them the lead they needed.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Caddanra outpaces Xyklo, who is left panting a dozen meters behind. Caddy does catch up to the enemy, who spins to face her just as she turns a corner and confronts him.

Now only a few meters away, the man decides to make a fight of it. His long blaster rifle is held on his back by a hydraulic arm connected to his backpack. He draws a blaster pistol and fires. The shot goes wide. He readjusts his aim.

The Force rolled 2 failures, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3a 2d.  Baron von Klisson RL blaster pistol.
1B to next action.

Xyklo and Caddy's turns.
Remember he is a Rival, so upgrade combat checks by 1, eg 1c 1d

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Picking up Forim, Kraken slips back, letting the pilot, pilot the speeder.  Having just been told by both Anders (combat lead?) and Forim (pilot leader) the Imperials were coming and it was time to go, he thought they were in full retreat.

Slipping the Stormtrooper helmet on, Kraken used the rifle sling to slip the bio-locked weapon to his back so he could better grip the speeder.  The new vibroknife was secured on his waist, a great new addition encase he had to go hand to hand.  Looking about, back towards Anders Kraken frowns.  Looking again, Kraken didn't hear or see Caddy, Xyklo or Zeic.  Figuring they were hiding but also evading and moving out, Kraken trusted to Forim as the better pilot and navigator.

OOC:
GM, Just curious, what armor were the Stormtroopers wearing?  Anything that I could take and wear?  I wouldn't mind some better armor than my Padded Armor.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

For the briefest most, Caddy considered 'talking' things through with this individual.  He was clearly outnumbered now (even if the others hadn't joined her yet).  But the moment quickly passed.  He had a gun, she had a gun.  A pity she hadn't been able to speak before he fired.
Her pistol was already readied, she aimed, fired, and then stepped to the side to take cover from any return fire and to give Xy room to approach and take the lead.

[Actions: Aim, Shoot, Take Cover.  Cost: 3 Strain [2 for Action, 1 for Racial], Light Side Flip.

10:57, Today: Caddanra 'Caddy' Manitu rolled 13 using 2d10 with rolls of 3,10.  Critical.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

The sniper takes a blast to the torso. His armour, which appears to be modified stormtrooper armour, absorbs most of it.

He drops his blaster pistol to the ground. Even as he does this, the hydraulic arm on his backpack raises his heavy blaster rifle over his head, then lowers it down into his right hand. He takes aim at Caddy from only a few meters away. "You won't be walking away from this one, Rebel," he says as he fires.

The blast is powerful enough to blast through the rocks Caddy is taking cover behind. Shards of superheated rock pepper her face, and the dissipated heat of the plasma washes over her.

The Force rolled 4 successes, 1 advantage using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3p 2d 1s.  Baron von Klisson RH Heavy Blaster Rifle.

Dropping the rifle Xyklo draws his own pistol as Caddy is dropped from another round of fire. Pointing it at arms length and setting an aim on the Baron, Xyklo chitters softly as he lets off a string of blasts.
To his immense relief the weapon works, the Baron takes a painful bolt of laser fire.

A map would be nice, but not required since the combat is almost over but perhaps group us that way we know who we can yell/talk to w/o meta-gaming.

Legs and arms pumping Anders sprinted out of the canyon as fast as he could he kept his eyes on the opening and watched his breathing as he dashed for the entrance. He could see the speeder ahead so made for it or he tried to following knowing he could not keep up.

He did not look back for fear of seeing a trio of tie fighters bearing down on his position, he would rather not know that was happening.

Xyklo blasts the sniper once directly in the chest. His armour overheats and shatters, sending shards of laminate into his chest. Blood streams down his chest from a dozen small wounds. The man gasps for breath as his lungs fill with blood. He falls forward to his knees, then face-down into the dirt.

The Verpine drops onto one knee, antennae flattened, compound eyes scanning for any sign of reinforcements. They were away from the transport at least, but the dead man in front of him may have had an active tracking beacon on him.
Scurrying forwards Xyklo quickly searches the body, looking for such a beacon, or a data chip, or really anything that may be of use. Every few seconds glancing around at the horizon.
Panting he tries the comms in an urgent whisper.
"Captain Luk, Kraken, Anders...   anyone?
Snipers down. So is Caddy...     again."
Another urgent scan.

"I'm looking on his corpse for any intelligence. Bug bugging out in a klick sir, I'll bring the queen shall I?" he giggles weakly at his own joke.
