Caddy join Anders and Zeic as they leave their pod and head the 'short' walk from their pod to the other one.  "Always a good sign!"   She seemed rather pleased by that revelation and her spirit wasn't dampened as Kraken complained.  "Close?  Not by far!  I had to show Forim that he'd better stay on his toes or I'll be taking over pilot's duty!"  She smiles....  It was a quip... wasn't it?  "So any idea which way we head to make our mark... and find some transport?"

Kraken finds a datapad and some Slicer spikes. He is able to remove the IFF signatures of the pods. Of course, the team had already disabled the automatic distress beacons, but now no information will be offered to anyone salvaging the pods.

Forim says "Good job Kraken, great initiative" he says when the IFF information and logs are purged.

Forim looks at Caddy as she makes her quip and says "If there is a better pilot, I am happy to step down, its all about the success of the team not personal glory"

Forim has no suggestions about where to go next, so remains silent on that question

Kraken shook his head at Caddy's mirth, figuring she was being sarcastic as they hadn't gotten out of the ship near before it exploded.  He was surprised the pods didn't have any damage from the blast, good thing they didn't or everyone may not have made it planet side.

Looking to Forim Luk, he nods, appreciating the notice.

"What's the next step?  Shall we try the buttes where we will likely find water and perhaps caves.  That said, I expect we might find some natives or possibly wild life using the water pools and caves as well."
he offers loosening his pistol in his holster.

In reply to 'Kraken' (msg # 38):

"We need to get away from these escape pods and those cliffs will at least give us some shade until night fall. Then I suppose we should try and locate some locals for help as to our objectives and to find out if there are any villages or towns we can resupply from ?"

Anders was ready to move out, he had his gear stowed and was looking towards the cliffs to see if he could see any movement. As they walked he would keep and eye out for smoke that could indicate cooking fires or the like on the horizon.

Anders Flown rolled 1 failure, 1 threat using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1d 1s 2a.  Athletics.

Caddy gives the others a small shrug, "I can make a choice but this is way out of my expertise."  She looks to Andres then as he suggests a destination, "That sounds sensible.  Anyone got a better idea?  If not, let's move...."   And assuming no one does, she'll start walking in the indicated direction expecting everyone to gather their stuff and start moving too.

Looking at where Anders was pointing, Kraken nods, as this was where he was thinking of also.  He called them buttes, Anders calls them cliffs ... same thing?  Shrugging, Kraken wasn't going to correct the man, they were in survival mode, not debate team.

Putting the datapad and slicer spikes into his backpack, Kraken nods to the descent they would need to make to get off the ledge, "Forim, how about we tie a rope to each other and assist each other in the climb.  If one of us falls, the other can prevent the fall from turning into a disaster." he offers.

OOC:
GM previous comments:
Athletics to go down the escarpment.
If two people tie themselves together with ropes, they can make assisted checks. Athletics 1d 1s.

Forim, want to make the athletics check and climb with me?

Xyklo finally lowers his gun, slinging it across his shoulder. Taking a short length of rope he approaches Caddy, knotting one end around his waist he cheerfully offers the other end to her.
"Would you like to team up?
Doesn't look too hard, right?"

Caddy happily accepts the rope from Xyklo and ties it around her waist.  "Piece of cake."  She grins hoping her confidence carries over.  Climbing... or indeed anything particularly physical... is not her forte.

You didn't bring any jam too?"

His antenna perk up, swaying like a pair of thick grasses in the breeze.

Forim, unfortunately, was the weak link in this chain.  That said, with Krakens help he was able to get up without difficulty.  Forim tried his best to act as a spotter for Kraken, pointing out what he thought was the easiest line down the escarpment.

"Whoa!  Whoops!  Careful now..."  While he manages to stay upright, the loose rocky surface causes the droid to stumble periodically, slowing him down.  "This is trickier than I thought!"

In reply to Forim Luk (msg # 46):

Glad to have a willing partner who didn't let his ego or pride keep him from accepting a hand, Kraken made it down the cliff without too much difficulty, even easier with the help of Forim.

Once at the bottom, Kraken grinned, "Nice little climb, now how about a long walk." he offers with a tone of grim determination.

Looking toward the Butte and gesturing towards it, "If we move South direction, following that river, we should get us close to that Butte." Kraken offers.  "If you don't have water, lets test this water to see if it's pure or good enough to drink.  Anyone have a scanner?"

OOC:
'Kraken' rolled 1 success, 4 advantages.  Athletics 1d 1s.
Use Advantage to make the descent faster.

You are at the north edge of the first map, just above the escarpment. You are on your own now. Go! Be free!

Where basically are we on the North end of the map?  Between the two rivers or closer to the river by the Butte?  Perhaps on the left end of the north edge of the map?  Just asking so I can tell if we need to cross rivers or stay on the left or right side of the river.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

An hour or so later, the team has crossed the rocky & irregular ground and reached the much smoother terrain to the south.

The rocks rise up above you like pillars holding the sky. Most are a few dozen meters in height and a few hundred across. It is like being in a canyon, and there are many twists & turns.

The ground is soft, like wet sand on smooth rock. Walking soon puts cramps in your legs as the soil slides under your feet. Progress is a little slow.

Although it is early afternoon, the sun is often blocked by the pillars. It is very shady and cool here. The ground is damp with condensation.

Orienteering could be a challenge. The pillars obstruct direct movement, making it hard to move in a straight line. Even keeping a map could be difficult with no right angles or aerial view to rely on.

Survival 2D to avoid being lost. If you have a compass or Crash Survival kit, upgrade check by 1. The general scanner adds 1B.

In reply to The Force (msg # 51):

Kraken was born into battle, one of the reasons as a computer nerd, he was rather strong and sturdy.  As a soldier, if you couldn't swim twelve miles with a field pack, you wouldn't cut it in the Kraken military.  Of course, living in the water you would think swimming in the cold was easy, but when you had to swim against a strong current or swim in extrem cold water, avoiding sharks and patrols, it wasn't as easy as it sounded.  Kraken wasn't a born and raised soldier, but he had the build of a soldier.

Watching his team mates, Kraken watched for fatigue, sunstroke and dehydration.  Loosing someone to an easy remedied small problem could become a much larger one if ignored.

OOC:
I have Macrobinoculars, if I climb to the top of a pillar, to get a better view of the Area, can I get a boost to avoid getting lost?
BTW, did we loose the Astromech droid?  Or is he following behind quietly like a good droid should?  :p

Anders stayed at the rear of the party covering the back as they moved through the grasslands. The pillars were interesting, would be a good place for a settlement he thought to himself. As they moved below them he looked for signs of life having moved though the soft dirt and left tracks.

If anyone asked for water Anders would offer up his canteen as well as his rations should they be needed.

OOC: Unsure if you need a roll from each of us or one for the group.

Caddy is simply... not built for this.   Outwardly she soldiers on, chats with everyone, encourages, laughs... but inwardly, she just isn't coping and Kraken and Anders - you are both quickly able to see that her effort sort help and support everyone else is having an obviously detrimental affect on her health as she stumbles from one pothole to another and through distraction, dehydrates herself.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

It isn't long before the team finds a crack in a rock with a small seep of water bubbling forth from it. With care and patience, the team fills their canteens and has plenty of water.

After a brief inventory, the team concludes that they have plenty of food and enough water for a day or so. Kraken has the greatest fluid needs. E4 and Roger have little use for water. However, the lack of generators does mean that it might be hard to recharge them if their batteries run low.

A few hours have passed since you touched down, and the sun seems to be on course to set in a few more. You have found water but little shelter.

Getting a chance to rest and drink, Kraken sighed, watching Caddy, the one he was worried about the worst, Forim seemed to be holding up well for an officer and a pilot.  "If we keep an eye out for birds, we might be able to find trees and shelter.  Or even caves.  Where there is water, we'll find animals, both hunters and prey." he offers as casual survival observation.
