I'm waiting for a go ahead on my cistern and farming actions, not sure if I should continue posting or wait.

In reply to Shkigragexlyktgheden (msg # 3):

desalination of the soil plan: works by the established rules of chemistry, so that works. no need for a go ahead from me

farming by putting down a brick layer: once again chemistry defines the permeability of a substance, so all things logically work there too.

building the cistern is just a matter of gathering the materials and doing it. so once again you dont need my input beyond the amount of labor based upon its size.

this game is very logic based and it will be faster to just start trying to do something. if it comes up i will tell you WHY you have not succeeded YET

Hi everyone.

Waiting for confirmation on my gear, but my shifter druid character is on his way to the portal. He has been amassing some new beasts of burden to bring over, along with skills and equipment for sustainable lumbering, as well as clean dirt to speed up the farming enterprise. I should have a herd of animals that can provide wool and milk too.

Aside from a lumberjack, Greenclaw is a qualified healer, leatherworker, herbalist, tanner and weaponsmith (mostly experienced in simple weapons though).

I will hang out mostly in the forested areas, roving about with my heard.

Greetings all.  Human ranger here.  Looking for suggestions on what skills to compliment the party.  Don't want to duplicate much of what the party already has.

I am working on making nice maps for this, but I don't think anyone has any cartography skills... But I could be wrong... Might help shape out the world a little more concretely.

Tracking/spot/listen will be nice for sure.

Oh, and welcome to the new world...

May be able to take the cartography skill.  Personally stink at making maps.  Never have been good at that.

I can help with the actual map making. But I think it would be better if one of the characters has the skill before we can picture the new world that accurately.

In reply to Eric Starwalker (msg # 12):

Well I had planned to take craft (bowmaking) so that I could provide arrows however if someone else has that I could take craft (mapmaking).

I'm using Scout from Complete Adventurer.

Okay I split my craft ranks up

So I'll have 2 ranks in bowmaking, 1 rank in cartographer and 1 rank in tanner.
I won't be the best but I can help and they seem appropriate to a scout.

I have a huge list of equipment that is almost done. Plus maybe a flock of sheep :) and some chickens just in case hunting doesn't work out :) (and dogs to guard them).

I'm just trying to make sure I've not forgotten anything on my list.

In reply to Gimi Eyrirson (msg # 13):

I'm working on my character sheet.

Though I do have 1 rank in mapmaking, I lack the materials needed to make maps :). Yes I spent pretty much all my money. I plan once I get it all formatted on the character sheet to post here and you can check what I"m missing and hopefully bring other supplies.

Re: ooc

So, in light of Zarzar's meta comments, am I to understand that the characters already know the planes entire geography? What is at the edges of the plane if so?

Re: ooc

In reply to Greenclaw (msg # 17):

the ring shape nature of the plane is apparent if you look east ans west, because the land curves up disappearing into the distance. as far as the measurements they are based upon Zarzar's mathematical calculations.

the edge is visible because of the curve of the ring and it is an abrupt edge, but no pc ventured far from the portal so there is a lot of un-validated theory, and mathematical conjecture.

Thanks for explaining, sorry, totally forgot the ring thing. So looks like there is still some discovery to be done.

Re: ooc

2 questions regarding the tourist guide thread:

quote:
over 500 million fish-able fresh water rivers

Have we found out where those are yet?

quote:
wild game animals

Is this referring only to the saltwater buffaloes or have we discovered other game?

Not trying to meta, so I want to know the extend of what we collectively know as of now.

Thanks.

no you have not found any of those rivers, also river is a broad terms ranging from a creek you can step across, to the mighty Mississippi.

the buffalo are one of the game species, yes there are others.
