Federation of Comorian

Approximately five hundred years ago, late in the 27th century AD, a fleet of refugees were forced to make planetfall on Comorian, fleeing persecution in the Rim Confederature and the brewing war with the Naxos-Elk Republic core-ward. Grounding all their ancient vessels bar one, much of the early days of the colonisation of the world is lost to conflict, digital corruption and malice. What is known is that forty years ago, mid-32nd century by rough reckoning, they began the climb back towards the stars, achieving a haphazard unification and re-establishing contact with the dying vessel in orbit, the RCV Mbal Msafiri. Under the visionary leadership of Esmail Nejem a programme to reclaim their heritage began, seeding the skies with satellites and transferring what knowledge remained in it's databanks to the surface. With his assassination in February of 2 NS (~3189AD) his son looked to a Council of member Polities to guide the Federation forward

Nezem States - President Abdul Nejem supported by First Minister Abbie Nejem - Pro-Unity
(++Diplomacy, +Planetary Warfare, -Research and Development)

Founders of the Federation and largest of the polities within it, the Nezem States came to Comorian in three sleeper-ships, including the RCV Mbal Msafiri. They have settled widely in the badlands centred on Mkobe, primarily in townships centred around deep wells or mining pits. Conscription is practised, with men and women serving three years in either their militias or the Federation bureaucracy.

Known Territories and Settlements: Spread across the Northern, Central and Coastal Districts with the capital Mkobe together with the cities of Darbuiks, Usiku, Teruel, Safed, Kader Beach, Zanzibar, Saqqaf-Cadiz, and the Nezem Coast and Nezem Badlands
Known Influences: Unity
Known Facilities: Federation Capital, Fort Mkobe, several Stoic Clinics
Known Technologies: None
Known Units: Presidential Guard and the Nezem Jeshi Kigeni

Today's Federation is formed from a number of polities - nation-states and special interest groups and megacorporations.

Non-Player Polities

Balcones (-Construction and Engineering, -Research and Development, +Diplomacy) - Vilma Montgomery - Pro-Unity
Nomadic traders, the Balcones operate several cross-border road-trains within the Federation, including the territories of the Rafiki - often fending off the minor bandits and outlaws to carry finished goods and raw materials between the small holdings and strongholds. Recently they have ventured into the void in collaboration with the New Stoics

Known Territories and Settlements: None
Known Influences: Cross-Border Trading
Known Facilities: None
Known Technologies: None
Known Units: Several Roadtrains

Buna (+Construction and Engineering, -Espionage and Counter-Intelligence, -Stellar Warfare) - Charles Mbum - Pro-Unity
Claiming most of the equatorial region, including the Gama de Acero, the Buna have firmly turned their back on space and focused heavily on transforming their patch of Comorian into something liveable. Forced into the most desolate regions by other polities in their early history, they learnt to survive in this harsh region and now live within a handful of underground cities - as well as operating various wells, aquifers and mines. With their Pandayans they represent much of the industrial backbone of the Federation

Known Territories and Settlements: Buna City, Gharistan, Ndanga, Wuuwa, The Pandayans and the Vuoristö Savannah together with a polar base at Barafu Utoto Station
Known Influences: Renewables and Manufactories
Known Facilities:Barafu Utoto Station, Eastern Pandayan, Southern Pandayan, Vuoristö Pandayan Roadtrain Manufactory, and significant investment in Solar Power Plants
Known Technologies: None
Known Units: Buna Defence Corps, supporting regiments, together with several Roadtrain routes

Chikalda (+Economy and Trade) - Rod Watts - Cool
Located in the Nezem side of the Anderbacks and south of Usiku, the Chikalda have kept to themselves for much of their history. When the Federation was formed the Nezem incorporated them early, but let them retain their independence, a nation within a nation. In recent years they have been more vocal about their own history, with strong movements growing around their traditional crafts and values of salvage and reclamation - partly in response to the surge in 'cheap' entertainment coming out of nearby Gharistan

Known Territories and Settlements: Chikalda Hills
Known Influences: Artisanal Crafts, Seam Mining, Salvage
Known Facilities: None
Known Technologies: None
Known Units: Chikalda Infantry Division

Crimeran Confederation
Decimated in the Satyata-Seihai Conflict, the remnants were absorbed into the military of the Huitzilopochtli Group

Green Energy Party (+Diplomacy, +Economy and Trade, -Espionage and Counter-Intelligence) - Felicia Jenkins - Warm

Fleeing persecution from the Rim Confederature for recidivist research into forbidden technologies, the Gorski Amalgam keep primarily to their city of Haven in the Anderback Mountains west of Mkobe - though they import a wide range of products as events in recent years have meant they are no longer self-sufficient. They were persuaded into the Federation on the basis of long-term trading contracts with the Buna and a defence pact with the Nezem States.

Hishu Gardeners (+Espionage and Counter-Intelligence, -Construction and Engineering) - Faxecura - Warm
Claiming a small territory on the edge of the Gama de Acero and south of the Buna, the Hishu Gardeners were a group that set out on a sleeper ship to start a utopian society and search for enlightenment. They believe that a society, like a garden, will not grow properly until it is pruned and the weeds are eliminated. While outsiders know the gardeners mostly for the large seed banks and skilled farmers, they are so much more. They have not rushed to expand taking there time to make sure they buildings facing and architecture do not interfere with positive energy flows and have spent some of their time and effort towards art and culture instead of just survival.

Concentrated on the coastline, their recent influx of wealth comes from a set of rare earth mines recently discovered at the same time as prices have been soaring to meet increasingly high-tech manufacturing needs from the Federation. As a result immigration has been high, both refugees from the Western Badlands as well as from the interior

Outsider Polities

Seihai (-Diplomacy, --Economy and Trade, +Espionage and Counter-Intelligence, ++Stellar Warfare) - Hostile
Little is known of the Seihai, who appear to be vehemently anti-contact, however evidence has recently been unearthed tying them to the assassination of President Nejem and the Satyata Council. It is believed that they operate from a mountain facility called the Yamashiro Drome, far to the east of the swathe of jungle that marks the eastern border of settled Federation territory. Local encounters tend to consist of automated warning messages and strafing runs by their Knights and they aggressively defend from incursions even close to their lands.

Known Territories and Settlements: Yamashiro Drome, the Warrens now known to include seven settlements
Known Influences: the Satyata Council
Known Facilities: Several Airbases and Strongholds
Known Technologies: Alternate branches of Computing, Small Arms and Fightercraft, the Aorendra
Known Units: Numerous types forming a significant force

Silver Republics (++Economy and Trade, -Planetary Warfare) - Cool
Carving out a series of townships within the eastern jungles, the Silver Republics are a loose collection of small nations existing in a feudal relationships with the three most significant principalities. With the recent assassination of the Duke of Cortega, relations have cooled somewhat

Known Units: Several units of Republican Militia

Stellar Imperium (+Stellar Warfare, -Planetary Warfare) - Rodric Carlsson - Cool

Union of Western Collectives (+Planetary Warfare) - Chaotic Neutral
Emerging from the clans and gangs of the Western Badlands, the Union is an attempt to pull the region up by it's bootstraps in the same way the Nezem States did for the Federation. Led by a charismatic leader and heavily influences by the early writings of President Esmail, they exists partway between nation and gang

Known Territories and Settlements: Western Badlands
Known Influences: Bandits
Known Units: Several units of Union Militia
