Tourney: Rd 2: Gegorath v Tor of the Balance
"Welcome to the Second Round of the Tournament!"

For this round of the Tournament all of the fights will take place in the Boxed-In arena, fully enclosed arena with a 25 ft ceiling.  Floor, ceiling and walls are stone.  There are no spectators visible for this fight, with invisible magical sensors providing a view for the crowds watching in the main amphitheater.

Walls of force filled with liquid hellfire create faux pillars, with the hellfire bathing the entire arena in a reddish glow.

OOC:
Standard fight rules
3 prep rounds

In your posts, please include a private section to the GM, which lists your current stats (AC, hp, non-permanent bonuses to anything, spells or powers in effect, immunities, etc.).  This section can also include any pre-fight actions taken.  Once the pre-fight stuff is posted, I will roll to see if anything is dispelled upon entering the arena.  After that, you can each post your preps and roll for initiative.

A copy of the map is provided below.

The ceiling is 25 feet high.

2 indicates that those squares consist of walls of force (CL 50) surrounding those squares, extending to the ceiling.  The space within the walls of force is filled with liquid hellfire.  If a wall of force is destroyed, the DM will have to adjudicate the effect.  Moving into the squares inside the walls of force has an effect similar to being submerged in lava, except that it's hellfire.

For those without the relevant sourcebook, hellfire is similar to regular fire or lava, but is infused with the energy of the Nine Hells, so it ignores resistance and immunity to fire.

- Indicates the starting squares.  The starting location should be listed in your first post.

-Tor of the Balance starts at the north-west end of the arena.
-Gegorath starts at the south-east end of the arena.

Based on starting positions, you can't see each other during the prep rounds.

Gegorath listens to the sounds of the arena.

Continuing his preparation he focuses his mind

Gegorath reaches into his self and charges his body with energy

Tourney: Rd 2: Gegorath v Tor of the Balance
OOC: From the OOC thread, Nineda isn't available for a fight, so I am changing the fight to make your opponent Tor of the Balance (an NPC).  Gegorath knows who his opponent is, and would have seen Tor's previous fight, so he has some idea of who he is fighting.

Please go ahead and post all prep round actions (unless they are dependent on what your opponent does, bearing in mind that you can't see him), and go ahead and roll for initiative.

From across the arena, Gegorath can hear his opponent enter from the unseen doorway.  As the seconds tick away, no further sound comes from the other end of the arena.

OOC: After entering the arena, Tor of the Balance simply stands in place, waiting for the fight to begin.  A middle-aged human, he wears plain clothes and carries no equipment other than a spear.

Sorry, I didn't notice your note at the end of your post, and was waiting for you to post the rest of your prep round actions.  I will roll your initiative for you, and if Tor wins the initiative, will post his first round actions.

Geogorath waited for his opponent to make the first move, but despite gegorath's reactionary fighting style. Gegorath slowly walks around the pillars bringing the two combatants closer but still outside each others sight lines.

Gegorath's hands remain empty, but he still possesses the ability to bring his blades into existence at a mere thought. He keeps his distance trying to see how his opponent will react to his movement across the arena.

Moving forward through the arena, Tor quickly reaches his opponent's starting location, only to find him gone.  Continuing to move, Tor searches the arena, finally ending his movement when he rounds a corner and sees Gegorath.  Readying his spear, he takes a defensive posture.

OOC: Tor moved across the arena, then headed north before finally moving to the southeast corner.  He had to take a double move, so he couldn't attack, and decided to end his movement outside of melee range.

Current position: B15

Gegeran manifests two mindblade short swords, lifting them into defencive posture.

While keeping his eyes locked on Tor, Gegeran begins lightly bouncing on the balls of his feet ready to head in any direction to dodge away from any strike and immediately counter attack.

15:45, Today: Gegorath rolled 90,98 using d20+82,d20+87.  crit.

gegorath fires 4 blades of energy at the wall of force behind Tor and used his hasted action to cast greater dispelling on the wall as well. the breakdown of the wall bathes tor in liquid hell fire.
