"Welcome to the Tournament!"

For the first round of the Tournament all of the fights would take place in The Circle, an open-air arena without walls.  Combatants are warned that the copper band which marks the edge of the arena also marks the location of a magical barrier which prevents exiting the arena during the match (and keeps out anything being thrown or shot from the stands).  The barrier rises 50 feet before arcing to create a dome over the arena approximately 75 feet above the ground.  Amphitheater seating allows the crowds to watch the action.  A pair of massive poles (10 feet wide) are placed across the arena from each other, connected by a long rope festooned with flags and advertisements.  The afternoon sun casts a shadow from the western pole across the center of the arena, but otherwise the arena is bathed in sunlight.

OOC:
Standard fight rules
3 prep rounds

In your posts, please include a private section to the GM, which lists your current stats (AC, hp, non-permanent bonuses to anything, spells or powers in effect, immunities, etc.).  This section can also include any pre-fight actions taken.  Once the pre-fight stuff is posted, I will roll to see if anything is dispelled upon entering the arena.  After that, you can each post your preps and roll for initiative.

A copy of the map is provided below.

Arhavienya steps forth into the arena, her lithe curves swaying as she made her way through the magical barrier that separated the fighting circle from the spectators... spectators who were no doubt now either drooling or near mad with jealousy at the form that presented itself before them. Her butterfly wings twitched and fluttered wide, revealing the pattern of a star and constellation-lit night sky. A pattern that went all the way across her lush torso in detailed tattoos, rising up from the tattoos of a snow-covered pine forest that lies over her hips and sweeps down to her bare blue-skinned feet. The forest is replete with dangerous and mystical beasts, lurking yet luridly picked out. As a whole the tattoos seem so real as to shimmer and move about of their own accord...

In one hand she holds a mid-length stave in the form of an icicle carved with Sylvan runes, and in the other a stave of similar length, this one a delicately carved living oak stave with a gem of amber embedded in its centre, within which was embedded the frozen form of a lesser faerie. The staves whole length, wood and crystal were likewise carved with runes of power in the Sylvan language.

She has not yet deigned her opponent even the respect of looking in his direction, and instead fusses over how her veils are sitting.

OOC: Stands in 5ft square designated 25N

Whilst Arhavienya sauntered into the arena, all curves and sexy allure, mystical tattoos and fancy stave... Arcantos entrance was a much more low-key affair. In fact, it wouldn’t be hard to say that Arhavienya entrance stole the show completely, and almost no one actually noticed Arcantos’ entrances into the arena. Considering he was an ugly, beetle-looking humanoid, wielding a simple katana and tower-shield, who could blame them?

Of course, Arcantos was a bit larger than usual, so there was that. But apart from that, he wasn’t very remarkable at all. Instead, he simply settled into the waiting space for the arena and lazily twirled the blade around, one of his four arms empty of any weapon or shield as he waited for the battle to begin

OOC: Being Large, I take up all four spaces in the square.

OOC: Arhavienya, the results of epic dispel upon entering the arena are included in a private line for this post.

Arcantos, you didn't list any pre-fight actions, so I am assuming there weren't any.  If Arcantos was taking pre-fight actions, you will need to post those in a private line in your next post.

Please go ahead and post actions during the 3 prep rounds.  You are not allowed to leave the starting area, and spells/effects cannot have any effect on the rest of the arena (so, no walls of stone out in the middle of the arena).  Area spells with an ongoing effect (such as a Fog Cloud spell) can be cast if centered in the starting area, but the effect is constrained to the starting area until the fight begins (at which time, if still in effect, it will spread to its full area of effect.

Once the prep round actions are posted, whoever wins initiative can then take their turn.

Arhavienya steps up and lays her gaze upon her opponent with a sneer on her perfect lips, "An insect..." her words are layered with nearly as much disbelief as they are contempt.

"An actual insect!? I... simply do not know how I could be insulted more..."

She shakes her her head, sending ripples through the wave of glistening black hair, "I shall make this quick." she muttered to herself with an expression that might have been ugly on anyone else, but was still radiantly divine on her.

She then raises her hands and flicks her fingers, humming and singing and casting her magic as it rises around her, her figure glowing with hazy werelight as she flickers from moving her body at mind-boggling speeds. The tattoos of stars on her torso and wings birth a rising cloud of hovering and flickering stars of sizes ranging from that of a pea up to the size of a grown man's head. Most are silver, and some few gold, yet all the colors of the rainbow are present, whirling in a nebulous cloud above and around their mistress.

Then she vanishes as a breath of wind howls into a storm of flurrying snow around her. It blankets her immediate area with snow that gusts so fiercely that she does not become visible by the time the action begins.

1ST PREP ROUND

swift action: Caste Haste on Self
standard action: Activate Karmic bead from Strand of Prayer Beads - Increase CL by +4 for 10m
 move action
Multispell: Cast Quickened Harmonic Chorus (CL 18) - increase all allied CL by +2
Perpetual Options Standard Action: Cast Haste using 13th level spell slot with Inervated Time class ability - Enters Time-Stop speed

The rest of her actions occur during Time-Stop, some of their effects momentarily visible (stars) until her starting area is engulfed by a Blizzard spell, obscuring her remaining actions from sight.

Initiative result rolled secretly and privately messaged to Arcantos - (Note: gm can see die roll in roller to verify).

Tourney: Rd 1: Arcantos v Arhavienya
The exact moment the contest begins is easy to determine, as the blizzard contained within Arhavienya's starting area bursts forward to envelop the whole arena for a few seconds before it dies down, clearing in a path straight from Arhavienya's even more fabulous body, her beauty and allure somehow magnified and intensified. Her staves were nowhere in sight. The wind intensifies behind her body and blows straight at her opponent, and the whole arena is covered in a layer of snow and ice a foot deep, everything snap-frozen in an instant. The effect of her intensified reappearance freezes everyone in the arena with anticipation, even her opponent is lulled into the moment so that everybody watches as she begins her attack.

Only now people notice that under the cover of the sweeping blizzard, Arcantos has been gifted with a pair of Arhavienya's stars, hovering on top of his carapace where a persons shoulders might be, one made of the frigid essence of cold, leeching straight into him, the other made of devouring darkness, ready to pull him into its depths entirely. Arhavienya herself is covered in a flickering nimbus of magic, light, and flowing elemental frost. Her staves are nowhere in sight, instead there are a pair of great-swords made of blue ice hovering at her sides, swirling around her in her frozen and mesmerizing aura.

Arhavienya leaps at Arcantos. She crosses the arena in what seems to literally be a single bounding step, but truthfully includes several lightning-quick snaps of her great butterfly wings, buoyed by the frigid wind behind her. She arrives in a stooping storm of blows, flicking out what seem like light back-hands and wrist jabs, but are in truth each blows that would shatter stone to powder. Her hands are laced with destructive magics that unleash on impact, and as they dissipate she calls up even more frozen magic to take their place. She even rakes at the beetle with the talons on her feet and snaps a stinger in her leopards tail at him.

And then she finally lands on dainty toes in front of what is left of the beetle-man, spinning to launch an even greater storm of attacks, her hands sheathed in such an intense frost that the air itself screams from the temperature drop around it. Her hand blurs from the speed and intensity of her attacks, vanishing from all but the sharpest eyes as she delivers a combination so swift that the sound of the impacts is delivered all at once like a single crack of thunder rather than multiple blows.

In addition, if any negative levels are taken from unarmed attacks (either during pounce or Avalanche of Blades), then each of those attacks deals  more damage per negative level (above the normal 5), as a result of the Life-Drain feat.
