About the Fights
This thread will have information on the fights.  This includes a list of fighters with their Win/Loss record, an explanation of the rules for fights and how to request fights, and arena maps that can be used during a fight.

This thread is not complete.

Note that all fighters will need to have character descriptions which are descriptive, but also include something at the bottom stating templates worth higher than LA +2, creature type, and any classes with over 5 levels.  After each fight, each player will be asked to write a short description of things they noticed about their opponent, which will be archived in a central location, so people don’t have to go back and re-read all the old fights.

Introductory Tournament:

Below is the list of people participating in the introductory tournament.

Requesting Fights
Fights should be requested and planned in the IC thread.  Once a fight and its terms are agreed on, a post needs to be made in the Fight Requests thread, stating the terms of the fight.

Once the request has been posted there, I will create a fight thread.

Fight Rules
Fight Basics: Fights are, by default, until your opponent is killed, surrenders, or is disqualified (see below).  If the fighters want to agree in advance to some other condition for winning, that is fine, but it needs to be stated in the fight request.  If the fight will require the GM to run an opponent or monster(s), you need to bring it up in the IC thread and get GM sign-off before the fight request is posted.
  • Wherever the fights take place, the fighters are both treated as natives to that plane.

Actions Before the Fight: Characters can cast long-duration spells or powers the day of the fight, before they go to the arena, but there are some caveats.  Everything has to be done that day.  So, there will be no stockpiling of explosive runes or the like.  Everything has to come from that day’s spellcasting.  Secondly, the duration of all pre-cast spells will be reduced by 12 hours.  So, most spells with durations of 10 min/level will expire before you enter the arena (unless they are extended or something).  Lastly, immediately before entering the arena, you will be subject to an epic spell which has a flat 50% chance of dispelling each existing spell in effect on you.  So, about half of your pre-cast spells will be lost upon entering the arena.  This will not affect magic items or continuous effects from magic items.
  • Note that the general rule that fighters need to fight one-on-one has a few effects here.
  • Players can't have any help before the fight either.  So, no hiring wizards to cast spells on you.  No summoning monsters before the fight, for whatever reason.  No killing chickens, just because.  And so on.

Prep Rounds: Players can agree on any number of prep rounds for a fight.  By default, there are 3 prep rounds.  If a fight request doesn’t mention something different, I will assume you want the default 3 rounds.

Keep on Fighting: Characters are required to take an aggressive action at least once every 3 rounds.  This can be basically anything which would cause harm or detriment to your opponent.  An attack or a spell targeting the opponent or including him in the area of effect would be the most common examples.  If there is a question of whether or not this is happening in a fight, the opponent should let me know if I haven’t already noticed it and posted something in the fight thread.

Disqualification: In addition to surrender or a grisly death, a fighter can lose a match if he is disqualified.  The main reason for disqualification is leaving the arena.  Fighters are allowed to travel to the Ethereal or Shadow planes during a fight, but must stay within the arena boundary.  Teleporting out of the arena or plane shifting to somewhere else is not allowed, and will result in disqualification.  If your opponent forces you out of the arena, you have two rounds to return before you are considered disqualified.
  • Note that, for this game, all planes will have the normal time trait.  So, it will always be two rounds to return, regardless of what plane you got sent to.

Player v Monster: I will occasionally sponsor a Player v Monster fight.  These may be open to groups, or to single players, depending on what I come up with.  The availability and complexity of these fights will depend on how much available time I have.

Specific Fight Rules

Incorporeality: If you are incorporeal and end your turn inside a solid object, after one round you will kicked out, and the arena environment will become impermeable for one round, preventing you from re-entering until that time elapses.  This rule is needed to ensure people aren't hiding in the walls or floor the whole time, and spring attacking on their turn before returning to the wall/floor.

Fight Maps
Below is a list of links to the various maps, posted further down in this thread, which can be used for fights.  Players do not have to use on of these maps, and can instead specify some standard geometric shape and size for the arena, or find or create a different map.

Players with the ability and interest are encouraged to create and submit maps for the arena's use.

Arena Maps
<To be updated. I have been directed to some existing maps, but haven't added them here yet.>

The ceiling is 25 feet high.

2 indicates that those squares consist of walls of force (CL 50) surrounding those squares, extending to the ceiling.  The space within the walls of force is filled with liquid hellfire.  If a wall of force is destroyed, the DM will have to adjudicate the effect.  Moving into the squares inside the walls of force has an effect similar to being submerged in lava, except that it's hellfire.
