The sewer tunnel had a 2 meter diameter, large enough to walk in upright. A ladder led down to the wet floor of the narrow walkway. A lower gullet filled with sewer water ran parallel to the walkway. The place smelled as welcoming as one would expect a sewer to smell. The only light was sunlight trickling down into the dank dark.

After having given the supplies to James that he had brought down Vadim activated the advanced glasses so that he could see what was going on in the tunnel better.  His own shotgun in hand now he had the fire selector set to the tube using normal heavy duty shot rather than the specialized ammo.  Being down here wasn't his specialty, getting people from one point to the next was, but there was a certain rush from doing this that hearkened back to his earlier days before the Syndicate when he was simply in charge of a portion of a Mafiaesque group that he later took over after his indoctrination into the Syndicate.

"Whenever you're..." started Vadim before he muffled a pair of coughs behind a closed mouth, "...ready."

Having finished gearing up with the supplies from the van James descended once Vadim confirmed the all-clear, heading down the ladder and wincing from the pain in his legs when he got to the bottom. He would need to have a checkup when he got out of here. Activating the glasses himself he gave an appreciative grunt before moving clear of trhe ladder to let Ai's...brother down. "Whoever headed down here was bleeding, guessing that's going to be our best method of tracking them. You want point?" Having not worked with the other man in the past James preferred to let him make the choice since he knew what he was capable of better than James did.

Vadim shook his head, "If I was driving a tunnel crawler I would, getting people from point A to point B is my bread and butter, but since I'm not you can have at."

Still Vadim handled the shotgun like he at least knew how to use it properly while covering one way of the tunnel as his eyes sought to see if they could spot the blood without additional enhancement.  If not he would have to enlist the aid of those specialized satellites again for their ground penetrating scanners.

The bipedal creature cleared the ladder with little difficulty, beady eyes blinking to adjust to the low levels of light. He glanced between the two humans, as if taking note and sizing them both up. At the mention of blood, the creature seemed to sniff about, trying to pick up the smell of the spilled bodily fluid over the other inherent smells of the area.

There was a distant drip intermittingly interrupting the relative quiet of the sewers. Sounds upstairs were dampened considerably by being six underground. Without some means of seeing in the dark the tunnel would be nearly dark, save for the light coming in through the manhole and sewergrates set in the pavement letting in a tiny bit of light every 50 meters or so.
Al noticed a spider crawl across the wall. It stopped, frozen when it was caught in the beam of sunlight. Al grabbed the spider and ate it. It didn't taste as good as what he ate at home. He moaned softly, regretting his choice of snack.

(Search rolls for anyone looking for blood down here. If you're not using goggles or other means of seeing in the dark, like .. a flashlight for example it is going to be nearly impossible to navigate succesfully)

"I've got blood here." remarks Vadim as he nods his head rather than releasing the grip on his shotgun.  Following the trail up to the division of tunnels he sought to determine which of the two the HITmark had gone down.  The diminishing markings likely meant that all too soon he would have to employ the orbiting satellites to give him a more detailed assessment and layout of where they were going and where it might be.

(correct James, though specifically on listening to sounds that are a-typical for your current surroundings. Also, you already labeled this as pseudo science and so would your supervisor so it would be wise at a later point to "figure out" why this worked with little to no preparation)

James took point followed by Vadim and Alpha closed the ranks. The sewer emptied into a stormbassin from which 3 other sewer tunnels ran into separate directions. The bassin was about 5 cubic meters and largely empty save for some brackish foul smelling water at the bottom. A small stairs could be used to go down into the bassin. On the bottom of the bassin a couple of big brown rats ran away from a wet pile of textile when they heard the threesome enter their home. James took a second before recognizing Jacki's shirt.

Vadim looked around but knew that the blood trail was likely done being followed.  The shirt was another clue but he wasn't sure if it was relevant to their current tracking.  What he did know was that he was going to need the aid of those same satellites that he had used before to extend his awareness far enough away that they would be harder to ambush.  Slipping his hand up to his temple he double tapped again to initiate the procedure that would feed data down to his contacts and perhaps help in their further hunt.

Bringing is hand back down to the shotgun he waited patiently as the request was queued up again.  Like Tetris the area around him was re-layered and overlaid in an augmented reality way as the data regarding the various directions of the sewer for a few blocks around them began overlaying his vision.  He began to appear to look at the walls while he actually was analyzing the tunnels from where he was.

Once satisifed there was nothing lurking in them waiting for them to go into a firing pit like the basin he planned to check out the clothing and if the water below was in fact deep enough to hide a human-sized body.

Meanwhile Vadim saw the world from a topdown view, his visors filtering space for valueble information to help in tracking the rogue HITMark. He immediately spotted 3 heatsignals, obviously belonging to himself and James and Alpha. Three tiny blobs scampered away from the body.
The visual information on display was overlaid with known municipal maps of the underground sewersystem.

Vadim narrowed his eyes a but and then remembered that even HITmarks had some capability at reading signals from comms, secure or not, so he looked at James to get his attention.  As he spoke through the sub-vocal he also made hand movements, "I've got one signal," he lightly tapped his ear to let him know that the HITmark may be listening in and then put up two fingers to denote the actual number he saw, "partial at best moving away...I think on the left tunnel"  He then pointed down the correct tunnel that he knew was the one they needed to head down and followed with another two fingers followed by a pair of closed fists to denote the distance to target.

With the info from Vadim confirming conflicting details he seemed to suspect it might be listening in so James let himself get to the indicated tunnel, paused to check the oother operative was ready and then advanced.

Though reasonably sure the whole alligators in the sewer was just a coverup story that occasionally got used when something got loose from a Progenitor's lab James still regarded the dead rats with a hint of nervousness. Most of the time the rats somewhere like this did the eating rather than were eaten and the fact they'd had the insides sucked out was an extra flavour of creepy. Despite that he stuck to the advance, keeping up with Vadim whilst still scanning the  sights and sounds he could make out down here for any sign of the missing cyborg.

With the intruders gone the rats that had eyed Jacki's 'corpse' for their next meal returned to feast on the blood the shirt was smeared with. One-Eye was first, he was fast and the other two feared his strength. One-Eye tore into the shirt, gnawing the fabric and pulling it a bit. He was disappointed when he was greeted by a hard inedible surface. He felt it shifting under his feet and leapt away.

Scene 2c: Venatus est Venator

5 minutes ago. 20 meters back.

Michael dragged the young woman after him. She'd been impressive, most likely the victim of genetic manipulation by the Doctor. Should have been dead with those third degree burns. Probably had a whole bunch of powers. He didn't know her name so he called her Brunhilde. They were all Brunhildes to him, sympathizer scum. American civilians who'd given up on liberty and the american way, bunch of goddamn sauerkraut-chewing traitors. But if he could get her away from the nazis following him .. perhaps the Spirit of 1776 could sway her to see the error of her ways and  once more light the fire of patriotism that houses in every american soul!
Entering the bassin chamber he quickly pulled the woman's shirt off and tapped on his shoulder to release an explosive device from a secret compartment. Setting a bomb was a dirty trick but all is fair in love and war.

Now, 200 meters ahead.

Michael heard the explosion in the tunnel behind him. The fools had taken the bait as he'd hoped. The fragmentary bomb would have shredded anyone in the bassin room unlucky enough to be too close to the decoy. The subway station was up ahead, from there it would be easier to escape the nazis.
With a bit of luck Portal would be able to pick him up on the run.

Now. Here.
Fortunately the blast of metal shards remained contained in the bassin room. Vadim and Alpha had a ringing sound in their ears from the resounding explosion. James, who's equipment had been specifically keyed to enhance sounds that didn't belong in a sewer .. like explosions .. couldn't hear a damn thing. But at least no one was fooled by the decoy and blown to pieces.

Vadim checked the room from high above and noticed the two red blips on the other side of the room, about to head up a flight of stairs leading up to the subway station, and between them and the hunting party a set of 4 large pumping turbines. The room was about 8 meters long, 3 meters wide with most of the space taken up by the turbines. Vadim couldn't see any obvious traps, though with barely a meter of walk space between the turbines and the wall it did not leave much room to dodge or weave should the prey decide to turn on the hunter here.

Vadim again used his limited mime skills to gesture to James and Alpha that the three of them were on one side of the room and the prey was on the other and about to go up stairs.  From his earlier comment they would remember him mentioning the subway and getting away shortly after that.  The lack of room to dodge wasn't good but it also meant that their shotguns would be just as effective in return...or so he hoped.  Still it was a HITmark and he needed to either hit it hard and fast or Alpha needed to sneak up and drop the electroencephaloclamp on him.

He hoped that Alpha had enough intellect to understand him as he moved close to him and quickly removed the device that could slip on the HITmark's head that would immobilize him as he almost sub-vocalized to Alpha, "If you can get close enough to drop it on his head it should knock him out cold.  Otherwise stay out of the line of fire.  Don't want you to get hurt."  If Alpha took it then he would nod in thanks, if not he replaced it into his suit and removed a plain black credit card that he grasped in his palm underneath the grip of the shotgun.

It was obvious when James had moved into position that they had been spotted so keeping themselves hidden at this point was useless.  Vadim took his card and slid it along the pumping chamber and focused his concentration on the ammunition in the chamber.  The nearby pumps where actually quite new and it was clear that the crew that had installed them took care in their installation.  Slowly he re-adjusted the inherent worth that radiated from it into the first shell so that when it did strike the HITmark it would hopefully incapacitate him enough to allow a capture.

Vadim didn't want to know what sort of damage that HITmark could do if he found a target with that weapon.  Snapping the weapon up to next to the doorframe to hopefully give himself some cover and above James' shoulder he fired a single round up at the crazy rogue hoping that the enhanced shells that they had been given combined with his Increasing the Worth of the first one would do the trick.

Scene 2c: Venatus est Venator

Vadim managed to hit the rogue HITMark square in the right shoulder with an enhanced shotgun blast which would have severely mangled the arm were his target a mortal. However the Technocracy had made HITMarks of a sturdier material than most mortals, having subdermal primium armor as a counter measure against magic. It instantly devalued Vadim's prime-charged bullets to a significant degree. Not completely as some of the powered shrapnel penetrated the skin and shredded it on a deep level but Vadim couldn't suppress a measure of disappointment.

(Note that making something cause aggravated damage is always vulgar so the base difficulty is Prime 2+4 (since no witnesses are currently present) is difficulty 6 (7 if witnesses were around). You rolled a 10 though on your magic roll so you're good to go.

The cyborg fired its weapon in retalliation, a blue arc of electricity escaping the weapon's barrel. The staircase was painted in cobalt blue light for a flash of a second. It hit James in the chest with him being the easiest target.

"Any time right about now would be godawefully convenient, Portal!", the HITmark growled.

(James, you take 3 hp bashing damage, but you can roll stamina to try to soak damage. If you take damage equal to or over your stamina score it also stuns you)

Pushed back down the stairs from the blast James winced before dropping to kneeling posture and bringing the shotgun up and adding his own fire to Vadim's. Given the bullets provided by the Technocracy had been souped up specifically to help with Primium armour they'd hopefully help with the cybrog's armour but it would still need a bit of firepower to bring this down.

Racking the slide on the shotgun Vadim loaded another round into the chamber.  As he did the hand that held the slide also held his card and he quickly slide it along the barrel of the shotgun...focusing on Increasing the Worth of yet another round to hopefully quickly bring the HITmark down to be captured if possible.

His eye twitched as he felt the Primal Unity deny his credit and he wondered if he had exceeded his allotment for the month.  With a simply frown he then focused on his target and squeezed off another round.  What he didn't account for was the creature being yanked to the ground which made him momentarily try to ascertain the science behind what Alpha was doing.  The shot scattered close to the HITmark but he couldn't tell if he had hit it or not...

He tried to get up again but his damaged internal systems and probably the chest and shoulder wound caused him to sag back down on the floor. He steeled himself against the incoming attacks, ready to roll out of the way, hoping to find an opening to take down his opponents and escape. James' headshot was nearly sealed shut again.

The fact that the HITmark was repairing as fast as he could dole out the damage was hardly comforting but James continued applying the same methods as before. Enough firepower would hoepfully overload its capacity to do so and given the lack of alternatives, the restraints for example being unsuited for a still moving enemy, he continued to shoot.

With his ears still ringing from the earlier explosion and unable to hear anything James finished applying the handcuffs before taking out his phone to fire off a text message to base, ++Target HITMark down though potentially capable of recovering. Vadim down, potentially dead. Presently explosion deafened so cannot use comms.++ That done he returned to check on the target, indicating the base of its neck and spine to Al. Moving from Vadim to give the actual medic chance to take a look he spoke as he went, "Followed it from the initial encounter, it left a booby trap using Jackie's body. Used some manner of electrical attack to down Vadim after he put some holes into it, Al and I finished it off. Looks to be able to recover from fairly serious injuries but some of them stuck." Ai ascertained that Vadim was unconcious and had suffered external and possibly internal burns and possible nerve damage from the electric current the cyborg had hit him with. Vadim's leftarm was twitching occasionally but at the moment she could not ascertain this was nerve damage or muscular spasms. Patching him up would end up prolonging the healing process and possibly exacerbate any potential internal damage. Stabilizing him for transport might be better. Either way it would likely take at least a day to get him back on his feet.
