Re: Welcome wagon

I guess I assumed a Druid would be considered a kind of priest. I have Esoteric Medicine.

Can I take spells from the college of Healing?

Druids have an Exclusive access to the Plant College whilst Clerics have the same to Healing.

Re: Welcome wagon

I posted a character sheet. However, I need to adjust to remove Healing and finish purchasing gear. I did decide to drop Elven. Too much that didn't make sense to spend CP ons. I'll try to finish up this weekend.

Re: Welcome wagon

If a Healing College spell is absolutely required (no alternate way to get past the requisites for one of our own College spells), can we take the spell? (Specifically, Lend Vitality and Minor Healing show up for spells I'm considering.)

A PM or PL with spells would be helpful to assess your requirement

Re: Welcome wagon

GM, how are you handling cultures? By race, by region, by nation, something else? I'm trying to figure out cultural familiarity. Thanks.

Re: Welcome wagon

In reply to Archivist (msg # 43):

I think I wasn't clear. My bad. Let's say I want Xiu-Xiu to understand the culture(s) in Great Britain, France, and Spain (or the equivalent depending on the time period you're matching). Would I choose Cultural Familiarity (Great Britain), Cultural Familiarity (France), and Cultural Familiarity (Spain)? Would I choose Cultural Familiarity (Human), Cultural Familiarity (Dwarves), Cultural Familiarity (Elves), etc.? Would I choose Cultural Familiarity (Western European) to handle all of it, separating that from eastern Asia, the Middle East, etc.? GURPS Basic Set leaves this very open ended, and for good reason, but enough so that I'm not at all sure how you want it handled here. I would guess others would have the same question at some point, too. Thanks.

Yeah actually how is language dispersed? Is it the same as it is now, with most countries having their own language.

Thank you that clarifies things

Each Country has their own Language or a variant of these. English, French, German, Latin, Russian and Spanish are the main languages used in Europe. These languages are also the basis for National Identity.

Re: Welcome wagon

I added my character details. Gear has not been finished, so I left that off. The points have been allocated though.

Re: Welcome wagon

Hmm... I'm wondering as I read the descriptions. Are you guys building somewhat traditional adventurers? I've built someone who's good socially, but I've realized is unlikely to end up traveling with any traditional adventuring group. I don't have to change a ton to refocus, but it will take some alteration. I want to make sure Xiu-Xiu has a reason to be with everyone instead of a reason not to be with everyone.

Re: Welcome wagon

Yeah, my character is an Ice Mage Bounty hunter/ Mage for hire. His magic is not learned like a normal Wizard, its in his blood. He can cast a few Ice spells as naturally as breathing and can improvise lesser known Ice spells. Since he never had to study at a guild or such he spent most of his time wondering around, eventually joining a mercenary group for a few years. He learned how to fight and hunt, fought a few battles too. He disbanded from them to go into the business bounty hunting. Its fun for him and a great challenge. :)

Re: Welcome wagon

as one definition of a Wizard is a man with magical powers.  Who is it that says wizards have to study them at an established school?
