The Old Dome

The Duel Bot looks up, its lensed eyes adjusting to scope in on you as you activate your duel disk. Seeing an opponent, it reaches jerkily for one of the pouches on its bandoleer, draws out a deck, and places it into its duel-disk, where it autoshuffles and spits out five cards. The machine takes its hand, and seeing you haven't made a move, assumes it will make the first turn.

"Draw. Main Phase One. I summon Genex Searcher in Attack Mode."

A shambling, humanoid machine exits the summoning portal, with misplaced red eyes across its cylindrical head, wires trailing across it, and shaky, skinny limbs, except for the clamp on its left arm. It almost looks like a skeleton of the Duel Bot in front of you.

"Next, I set one card face-down and activate the Continuous Spell Machine Assembly Line. Turn; End."

Your beast warrior tears apart the shambling scrap pile of a monster, but the Duel Bot barely flinches as it's life-points drop.

2500 - 1800 = 700

Duel Bot LP:
4000 - 700 = 3300

Instead, it responds flatly;

"Effect triggered; Genex Searcher. When destroyed in battle, I special summon a Genex Monster with 1500 or less attack in face-up attack position. I choose Genex Controller."

A pathetic little robot with a big head climbs out of the wreckage left behind by Genex Searcher, looking up at you with big, dumb-looking eyes.

Genex Controller:
Level 4 Dark Machine Tuner
Atk: 1400 + 200 = 1600

"Furthermore, the destruction of Genex Searcher places two Junk counters on Machine Assembly Line.

Finally, I activate my trap card; Time Machine. A monster that was just destroyed in battle is Special Summoned to its exact position on the field. I am returning Genex Searcher to the field.
"

A giant iron coffin appears, and when its doors swing open, the same spindly monster you just destroyed walks out. It takes one look at the remains of itself before stepping over it and standing ready in attack mode.

Whew that face down could have been alot worse for me...Machine Assembly is going to be a problem but there's nothing I can do about that, at least not yet. Best I can do is stall their synchro summon.

"Alright Gorilla your turn attack Genex Controller!

I then throw down 2 face downs and call it a turn.
" Placed Fire Formation - Tenken, and Fire Formation - Tensen face down.

Once again, the duel bot barely moves as its monster is taken down; the small robot no match for your Fire-Fist warrior.

1700 - 1600 = 100

Duel Bot LP:
3300 - 100 = 3200

"Two more Junk Counters are placed onto Machine Assembly Line. Now I draw. Main Phase 1: I play the spell card Iron Call from my hand. I can special summon a level 4 or lower Machine type monster from my graveyard, but its effects are negated and it is destroyed during the end phase.I revive Genex Controller."

Just as soon as it was destroyed, the harmless little robot reappears on the Duel Bot's field.

"Battle Phase. Genex Searcher will attack Danger! Dogman!"

I can't figure out what he's going for, is his goal really just to build up Machine Assembly? He doesn't have anything in his graveyard anymore...An early lead is all I've got, I better just hope its enough to tip the scales.

The duel bot's eyes flicker as your trap goes off, recalculating the balance of the duel as its Genex Searcher gets mangled again by your monster.

3500 - 1800 = 1700

Duel Bot LP:
3200 - 1700 = 1500

Yet the bot is undeterred as it explains:

"Two more Junk counters are placed on Machine Assembly Line. Furthermore, Genex Searcher's effect is triggered; from my deck, I special summon Genex Undine in attack mode."

A vaguely feminine, better put-together robot leaps out of a summoning portal. It's blue, with a conical head, a waist and forearms that are transparent and full of water, and laced with fluid-pumping tubes up and down its torso and limbs.

Genex Undine
Level 3 Water Aqua
Atk: 1200 +200

"<DarkGreen>Main Phase 2. I tune level 3 Genex Controller with level 3 Genex Undine to Synchro Summon level 6 Genex Ally Triarm.</DarkGreen>"

Genex Controller's many lights and diodes flash in a seemingly random sequence before it bursts into three synchro rings that take up position around Genex Undine. Then, in a burst of light, a new monster appears; a humanoid machine made of black metal, traced in green. A blue visor is its only facial feature, and while one arm ends in a five-fingered hand, the other is a large, three-barreled cannon from the elbow down, with a blue, cable linking it to the robot's backpack.

Genex Ally Triarm
Level 6 Dark Machine Synchro
Atk: 2400 + 200

"I activate Genex Ally Triarm's ability, which is based on the attributes of its non-tuner synchro materials. Since it's only non-tuner material was water-attribute, I can discard one card to destroy a spell or trap on the field. I destroy your remaining face-down."

Genex Ally Triarm's barrel-cannon cycles into a red barrel with a needle-like point sticking out. Then, a pressurized gout of water blasts from it like a fire hose, washing your face-down card away.

"I now equip 7-Completed to Genex Ally Triarm, raising its attack points by 700 to a total of 3300. I also set one face-down. End Phase. Turn End."

"My draw." Drew Solemn Judgement.

I could end this right now, IF it is bluffing, IF that card does not wipe my field or produce a monster from his graveyard... Is that right it feels like there are other options that could still tip this in his favor? The question is can I take a hit, can I survive what it could do if I'm wrong... I feel like I should put the flame to a simmer and wait it out, but my gut also says that stalling is part of the decks strategy. I feel like I'm walking into a trap, but on the bright side, there are no stakes.

Quin takes a deep breath "Gramps used to say the best thing about a trap was triggering it. So let's find out what you've got Danger! Dogman! Attack Genex Ally Triarm!"

Passing to its turn, the machine draws another card, and calculates its options again.

The duel bot's eye lenses whir and focus on your trap, activating its own.

"Response; Trap Stun. All trap-card effects are negated until the end phase of this turn."

As the card is flipped up, bolts of lightning surge out from Trap Stun to strike Dimensional Prison and Fire-Formation Tensen, which takes the wind out of Fire-Fist Gorilla, just in time for Genex Ally Triarm to cycle its many-barreled cannon and fire.

With a great GONG and a sound like a gregorian choir, light streams from Solemn Judgement to intercept Trap Stun's bolts of lightning, all of which diffuses and fizzles out. With nothing stopping it, Dimensional Prison takes effect, and a rip opens in front of your monster that swallows Genex Triarm's attack and pulls the machine into it before closing with a faint *pop*.

The Duel-Bot runs a quick diagnostic at your prompting, and the once jerky arm is now articulating more smoothly. The hydraulics in its forearm, having not been calibrated or lubricated in a long time, no longer just piston forcefully out and in; now, the pressure is more gradually regulated, making the forarm extend and retract more smoothly. In fact, the Duel Bot now has a fluidness of motion in its arms that is a little at odds with its roughshod appearance. Its fingers, being simple motors, are far easier to fix than its forearm and elbow-joint, and by way of thanks, the Duel Bot reports to you;

"Visible improvement in motion noted. Further high-quality maintenance will improve this unit's function in the future."
