Jade's Journey

"So lets start with the biggest question, What were you and the Ratttata fighting over? Why were you fighting in the village? Why did you wrap up the towns folk?"

Seeing that the Spinarak was behaving Cobalt turned back to the villager to ask more questions. "So, where was the last place you saw John?"

I'm just going to remove the funds from my character for the treat's ingredients, just for narratives sake. If that's cool. There is a big pause between each of the questions I just wanted to get them all asked at once to shorten the number of back and forth.

Cobalt helpfully translate for you.

"Big Boss jealous of villagers making offerings to the Field Boss. So he ordered us to fight the Rattata. Boss Told us to. They tried to stop us from fighting so we wrapped them up to stop them from getting hurt"

The villager replies to Cobalt "I saw him going into the forest."

Jade's Journey

Jade satisfied with the answers responded "Thank you for the information, now what flavor of treat would you like me to make?"

Upon hearing what the villager said she turns to Growlithe "While it would be wiser for you to wait for us I understand if you wish to go to your master. Cobalt and I will be there as soon as we are done here I can't in good conscience leave all these pokemon like this. Just be carful out there."

Cobalt quickly chimed in"And if you can, leave a trail for us so we can find you faster."  Jade raised an eyebrow at him, not because she was cross, but out of a strange pride. She knew he wanted to go with Growlithe so he could get to the fight sooner ,but he chose to stay instead.

OOC: Just to speed things up after the first Spinarack gets his treat and leaves I'll start healing the other Spinarack 1 by 1 and having them return home as they wake up and before the next is addressed. Here are the rolls for that.

Cobalt quickly translates for you.
"He says he likes sweet things"

You make a quick sweet snack for him

Growlithe looks like he wants to go but decides to stay for now.
he's pacing back and forth waiting for you.

You get the spinnarchs up and moving but it'll take time for them to fully heal.

Anything else?

"Grow!"
The Growlithe barks excitedly and starts sniffing the ground. He quickly picks out his masters scent from the multitudes of other scents. And then he leads you into the forest. As he leads you though the forest the Spinnerarchs watch you from the tree.

The trail eventually leads you to cliff with a tree jutting out from it. Looking over the cliff It doesn't seem to have a bottom. But there are many large trees with jutting limbs growing out of the bottomless abyss and the Trees are so tall that you can't see the tops of them.

The scent seems to lead on to the jutting tree. and there is a limb near the tree that looks like it's sturty enough to support all of you.

It flees as fast as it's legs will carry it.

You climb on the tree that is jutting out and note that the next tree is near enough to jump to.

You feel the distortion in the area that indicates the edge of a labyrinth. You know something powerful is within.

If you jump to that next tree, you will enter the labyrinth

Jade's Journey

The Three of us pass a look of mild concern around and walk into the labyrinth. We are initially lead by Cobolt who in his excitement forgot that we are looking for someone, until he remembered he was not a tracker and relinquished the lead to Growlithe.

"Remember guys keep your eyes peeled we're in a Poke'mon Lord's domain now."

"Ha! You worry to much Jade everything will be fine."

"Fine. Okay, look just humor the worry-wart, one more time." She rolled her eyes a little at Cobalt's disregard for danger.

Cobalt made a little smirk like the conversation was just a game of some sort, but ultimately did what was asked of him. All the while Growlithe kept on the trail of his master.

OOC:Cobalt and Jade are keeping an eye out for trouble until Growlithe finds his master or the three of us find trouble.

Jade's Journey

Beyond the trees you are moving between, the forest floor disappears into blackness. Ahead, a realm composed of trees without end, linked together in an impossible meshwork of one into the other, with spider webbing between them all. There is no visible sky, but there is just enough light needed to see, coming from a sun or a moon which does not exist here.

The sounds of creatures in the tree leaves is apparent as they react in fear from Jade's entry. Growlithe growls, and leads Jade deeper into the alien realm. The feeling of many, many eyes watching is palpable.

Jade lowers her voice not to a whisper but certainly well below her usual volume. "Hey Cobalt, do you think this place would be less concerned if I were a Poke'mon? Or do you feel our reception is more because we are outsiders?" While speaking Jade tries to keep her eyes on her footing rather than the impossibly long drop if she should have a misstep.

"Cobalt wait, no." As the words escaped her mouth, something occurred to Jade, well a few somethings, actually. #1 The odds of the Poke'mon lord not already knowing they were here, were very low. #2. Poke'mon in general are probably not going to challenge her for the title she does not have. #3 And perhaps most importantly if the locals know that they are just here for John they may be able to avoid further conflict.

With a sigh "Did you have to include the Iron Chef part?" and looked around in the trees in hopes of seeing a response of some kind in the Spinnarak.

There is, not too far ahead, the sounds of muffled shouting, and some of the thin webbing in the air is vibrating from the direction of the sound. Skittering is heard in the trees to the left and right as it seems to withdraw at the sound.

Jade's Journey

It is an easy trail to follow, and soon enough, Jade and Cobalt find a young man bound, gagged and struggling in the middle of a spider's web, hanging over the void that is this place's floor.

"Growl! Growl!" His Pokemon is reacting, and Cobalt draws the conclusion that surely this must be who they are looking for.

There is nothing else here, save the sounds of occasional skittering and the vibration of a loose web in the air.

He whines even more. But he is unwilling to risk danger to his master by going out on the rope.

Jade's Journey

Cobalt successfully walks out on the webbing...right up until he gets next to the cocooned man, at which point the ground sticks him into place, tripping him up and entangling him in the web. The young man did seem to be getting more animated in his thrashings, and a pair of Spinaraks drops down on Growlithe and spits toxic fangs at him, knocking the poor creature out with a pair of nasty hits.

Now feeling rather confident and safe, a large Spinarak of similar but clearly more aggressive markings and body make-up, four full feet in diameter, spins down from the misty ceiling opposite from Jade.

"Well, well, little human..." It speaks in a hissing, sibilant voice, it's mandibles moving in a strange way, bending unnaturally to allow its speech. "Aimed to finish off Aryurz the Great and Powerful Ariados of the Held Storm, did you? Did the vermin send you? Talk, assassin, and I will spare your servants and merely settle for eating you!"

A small circle of Spinaraks now make their presence known, completely surrounding everyone, chittering.

OOC: Growlithe is out of commission, but thankfully no longer poisoned due to being fainted. Mons have a resilient biology: a light coma cures all aliments! And replaces them with a worse one, which is being mildly comatose.
Interestingly, Cobalt is as strong as Aryurz, but he's at a disadvantage trying to make a contested roll to escape the web, especially when he's looking down and not seeing a lot except more darkness and mist. Not that he can't get back to non-sticky webbing, it will just be a challenge.

Jade removes her sword from her belt, scabbard and all and lays it next to Growlith, and then takes a large step back to show she could not quickly reach it. “As someone who fights in Victini’s name, I am rather aggravated by your assertion of being an Assassin. And furthermore I do not feel this is a conflict that needed to come to blows in the first place. The three of us are just here to retrieve John. You might ask your soldiers who fought in the town, we fought both groups equally and I did my best to mend both after the battle so they could all walk home. My primary concern is the safety of the villagers, and if possible a peaceful resolution to this conflict.” She takes in a calming breath, as her she could feel the adrenaline rushing through her. After all it wasn't often she ever said this much. “I would rather not do you or your followers any harm. That would surely end all possibility to end this, possibly at all, let alone peacefully.
