Combat Tutorial

<*><*><*><*><*> Combat Tutorial, Rarrr! <*><*><*><*><*>

Combat is conducted in Rounds which last approximately 10 seconds.
Initiative is determined mainly by the character's speed stat but various things can affect it.At the start of each Round, There will be a list showing the order that PCs/NPCs will take their Actions.  However, Players should NOT wait for their turn in order to make their PC's post.  IF we did this, we would all be in rocking chairs before the game ever finished.  Instead, as you have time, post your PC's Action and then I will sort it all out.

Mind on the first round you will generally not know the exact order enemies will act.

As for interrupts; You will just just write in that you are using it on your next post and I will go back and edit the effect in and then sort it out.

If an Action you would have made ends up being a moot point by the time it is your PC's turn, either the Combat will pause mid-Round for a reassessment or I will retarget your PC as appropriate.

On a Player's turn, the Player should do the following in order:
  • Make a post describing their actions
  • Take note of any special effects for the Combat or Round if necessary.
  • Declare a Target and an Action.
  • If the Action requires it, roll a the appropriate dice for the action
  • If the Action requires it, roll the damage die roll.  You should make this roll, even if you will not know if the above roll was successful or not.  If it IS successful, then the damage will be ready to go for me to apply.

A typical header for a battle at the beginning of each round will look like this:

CombatantsSpeedHit PointsStatus
Enemy 1???89%Speed-2
Enemy 2???15%Poison
Player 13050/55Speed+2(30), Attack+2(20)
Player 2320/50Speed-2(3), Attack+1(20), Defence+1(20)

The header will keep track of everyone's HP, Speed, and any Status Effects if appropriate.  Even though PC 2 has the smallest initiative that round, if they happen to login and feel inspired, they do not need to wait for PC 1 to post.  PC 2 should roll the CoS and Action attacks and declare a target of Baddie 1 or Baddie 2 with a short post describing their Action.  No one should wait for the NPCs to post.  The NPC actions will always be summarized and calculated at the end of the Round to make my job easier (do it all in one shot).

So, without further ado, back to your game!
